I cannot believe I have not done downgoat + trump yet
;____; nooooo
also wikipedia + duck
trump + github = ???
y u gotta degrade the downgoat avatar
@Downgoat I already did goat + seuss and goat + github
Darn queue so long
goat + wikipedia = ?
trump + wikipedia = ??????
Would anyone mind a reduction of occurences of goat (in all it's variations) as well as the ;__;-face?

22:06
@flawr Oop, here comes lenny
@Downgoat Not sure what you mean.
@flawr I'm testing combinations of ANN photo + style images
@ais523 my previous best was level 14.... Have yet to win.
I'm also attempting to make my first ascension a monk run though.
@flawr I would love such a reduction.
@flawr :( okay sorry
(is it really that disruptive? I mean no discussion other than the picture was going on, and i wouldn't say it's complete noise either)
22:10
I don't want to offend anyone, I just think I've seen both more than enough to find it funny anymore.
I mean is also not that funny anymore.
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ monk is probably the only class which has an easier time early than it does late
okay no more cry face
22:11
@Downgoat y u do dis
ooooh I had an idea for a strategy in the fellowship koth
so it's an interesting choice to specialise in
however, specialising in one role and trying to get really good at it is a pretty fun way to play
@ais523 can confirm.

Q: Has anyone tried this developer challenge?

drprotosWondering if anyone has given this a go? codility.com/l/imc Have tried a few challenges like this and must say this one is pretty challenging, though eventually worked through it and got a decent score. I suppose with prizes like a trip to Amsterdam and a Macbook Pro you would want it to be but....

Q: Evaluate the B-spline basis

helloworld922B-splines are defined using a set of "knots", "control points", and degree. For the purposes of this challenge, the control points are not needed. The knots are simply a list of non-decreasing real values. Note there might be repeated knots. The degree is a non-negative integer. The set of poly...

It really was bad at the castle though, I just kinda ran through gehennom
Idk how to spell that :p
how much do you want in the way of tips?
also you spelled it correctly
so even if you didn't know, you were good at guessing :-)
7 mins ago, by Dennis
@Downgoat Not sure what you mean.
oh
I meant like as in:
apFjAfDCEfLsv04Phai
apFjAfDCEfLsv04P	Command being timed: "/srv/wrappers/python2"
	User time (seconds): 0.01
	System time (seconds): 0.01
	Percent of CPU this job got: 96%
	Elapsed (wall clock) time (h:mm:ss or m:ss): 0:00.02
	Average shared text size (kbytes): 0
	Average unshared data size (kbytes): 0
	Average stack size (kbytes): 0
	Average total size (kbytes): 0
	Maximum resident set size (kbytes): 5768
	Average resident set size (kbytes): 0
	Major (requiring I/O) page faults: 0
	Minor (reclaiming a frame) page faults: 1024
@ais523 lol I thought it was double m and single n
22:15
a large portion of it apFjAfDCEfLsv04P Command being timed: "/srv/wrappers/python2"... is duplicated
And I'd be happy for tips!
well, one piece of advice I have is that Gehennom (and indeed, the entire dungeon, but especially Gehennom) gets much more dangerous after waking Rodney; Gehennom gets more dangerous still while you're holding the Amulet
thus, it makes sense to "prepare" while you're in the relative safety of pre-Rodney Gehennom
Hm
I'll try that next time
typically this involves digging out straighter paths (spell, pickaxe, wand), perhaps leaving behind small stashes of useful items, and the like
if you have to run away a lot on the way down, though, you're unlikely to survive the way back up
22:17
@Downgoat Huh? That shouldn't happen.
Though tbf I probably wasn't ready then, I doubt I could have made it through completely alive
@ais523 why is it more dangerous on the way up?
well, for one thing, once Rodney's awake, he chases you for the rest of the game
for another thing, once you have the Amulet, the stairs don't work reliably
22:19
and sometimes end up going in the wrong direction
@Downgoat Is that in your client or in mine?
(this latter feature is wildly unpopular, but may be hard to convince the rest of the devteam to change)
@NewMainPosts I'm not sure if this counts as spam or not
@Dennis both :/
22:20
Seems unpopular to be
Me
maybe my browser's XHR viewer is weird
oooh, this strategy seems pretty viable...
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ NAO or it didn't happen
Btw: does this work in your browser? It uses fancy CSS animations and SVG so I wanna make sure it works well enough
@quartata mobile :k
But it did
22:21
@Downgoat Whatever it is, I can't reproduce it.
@Downgoat such fancy
Works on Chrome
I got 4 magic lamps, so that helped
@Downgoat works chrome on ubuntu, very fancy
Not sure why you don't just use an animated GIF though
Dragon scale mail, jumping boots, boh, "oLS
22:23
That basically works on everything
I wonder who has the most stars in TNB
Alex
We've checked before
Iirc quartata is second
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I used to be 3rd but I've fallen behind.
Don't think I was ever second
I got 127 stars. wow
22:24
> 1413
Jesus...
@quartata gif = limited resolution
It's a tiny checkmark
you are understating the magnificence of a fancy checkmark
your users will be wowed
@Downgoat clearly you need to have the css animations with a fallback to a gif, completely necessary.
that seems hard
22:32
well I'm seeing nothing at all on that pen so... don't think it working
@ArtOfCode :( what browser are you using?
Chrome Canary
@quartata D: I need to up my star game
deepart.io is down
goat memes it is
22:33
I need to too
@ArtOfCode try this pen: codepen.io/anon/pen/ENvXdb
3
@ArtOfCode That's one step a way from having a cron script pull of the dev branch every 15 minutes
@ArtOfCode it must be out of ink :P
@Downgoat That looks great
22:34
I wonder who has the most starred messages in TNB (not most stars)
@quartata Star wars.
@flawr wait what do you mean by through the points (u_i, i)?
I don't get it
@Maltysen Starring things? People want to be on top? = Star wars
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC was talking to flawr about splines
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC You should be able to modify the query that quartata linked so it counts instead of sums.
22:36
@Downgoat yep
@El'endiaStarman puts on code monkey hat
@Maltysen I was wrong
> A PEN BY CAPTAIN ANONYMOUS
ಠ_ಠ I am CAPTAIN GOAT
@flawr oh
Here's a question: Guess what GitHub (effectively) does if it thinks you're a bot?
22:38
redirects you to Never Gonna Give You Up youtube page
@El'endiaStarman NOPE
@mınxomaτ Didn't you answer this yesterday? It unlists your repos.
@mınxomaτ [you already told me so this is a spoiler]
ninja'd
@Maltysen The u_is form the grid.
@flawr grid?
22:39
@El'endiaStarman Well, now it does that, and still lets you run Travis builds.
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC try COUNT + WHERE stars > 0
@mınxomaτ so free private repos? :P
@Maltysen the grid on which the spline functions are defined
As of today, free private and actually useful repos.
@flawr aren't the u_i's scalars how are they a grid?
@Maltysen Hey BTW, if something is spam, flag it as spam rather than VTC (I'm not sure that was needed in this case, but in general)
22:41
@DJMcMayhem i did, but mod's were not responding
they responded ~5-10 min after we closed the question
> mod.exe has stopped responding
@Maltysen Well {u_i | i = 1...n} is the grid=)
What do you mean they responded?
@DJMcMayhem i suppose he means handling the flag
Also, 6 spam flags will auto delete it
Then a mod doesn't have to handle it
22:42
I wonder where minxomat's host account is for the botnet
@DJMcMayhem ahhhh did not know
thnx
you can golf that to thx :P
@flawr still don't get it, u_i is a scalar?
@Maltysen if you really want something deleted, report it in charcoal
I don't know if that was needed in this case though, it didn't seem spammy
@Maltysen Yes, each u_i is a scalar, but (u_1,u_2,u_3,u_4,...) forms the gird.

@Downgoat nope; I don't know sql
@flawr sorry can't seem to wrap my mind around this
(u1, u2, u3, u4, u5) is just a list of numbers how is that a grid
@quartata okay installed new chat thing
Lemme know if it's not working or something is wrong
Considering it's not in the room at all
Did you load the plugin? sp plugin load tf2goat
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC that is not good use of semicolon
22:50
arghhh why didn't we sort out chained comparisons in pyth...
"Nope" is not a independent clause
yeah
its in the config
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ semicolon is how I golf sentences
Hi, @Lynn.
Hello!
nu 1337sp33k is how u g0lf s3nt3nc3s
22:52
@Maltysen A list of ascending numbers usually is what is considered an 1D grid.
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC comma is applicable there
Same byte count
Is that a better avatar?
@NathanMerrill I think this is in P. The fact that there's no repeated variables means that the number of gates = number of variables - 1. The linear algorithm would start from the "branches" and work up the tree to the "root" (the logic gate that gives the answer). For each node, the score of that node is calculated from the scores of its immediate children.
22:53
C programmers write semicolons behind everything they say;
@flawr a 1D grid? how does that work?
also what do the basis polynomials do?
They do nothing besidex existing.
@Lynn in the middle though?
@flawr ._. what are they the basis of?
22:54
Sure, it's like for (i = 0; i < n; i++).
Let's say you have some points (xi,yi) for i = 1..N
And a piece wise linear functio nwhich is linear on the intervals [x_i,x_(i+1)]
Then the collection of the xi 's is considered a grid
or set of nodes or whatever
What if you did #define \n ;\n
22:56
@flawr got it
No more semicolons needed!

@DJMcMayhem is that allowed?
Probably not
@Maltysen Sorry I'm just so used to talking about grids due to what I do everyday:)
22:58
@flawr what are the basis polynomials the basis of?
Does anyone know why the C++ syntax highlighting doesn't seem to be working on that post ^^^^
@Maltysen The rough Idea is: If you want piecewise constant functions on that grid, you can just define N(i,x) = 1 if u(i) <= x < u(i+1) and 0 elsewhere
(this is a basis)
For linear basis functions you can define these "hat" functions and so forth
But these are not really polynomials, but only piecewise polynomials.
@flawr that's the 0 degree one right?
oh i get why its a hat
If you then want to approximate a function by these splines, you usually want to enforce that the approximation corresponds exactly to the function at the grid points.
That menas you want to find coefficients ai such that the approximation is:
@flawr oic
23:03
approx(x) = sum( ai*N(i,x) for i=0,...,N) or so
In the case of degree 0 and 1 this is trivial, after that you have to solve systems of linear equations.
@DJMcMayhem Say goodbye to splitting long complicated statements over multiple lines.
@DJMcMayhem that will cause bork:
int add(int a, int b)
{
    printf("hai i am gaot")
}

I'm starting to think solving the radiation resistant quine challenge in JavaScript for n=2 might not be possible...
you need a "return 4; //guaranteed to be completely random" in there
char[] getRandomString()
{
return "Goat"; // chosen by fair dice roll.
                // guaranteed to be random.
}
23:13
^
how many sides does a dice need for it to be able to generate all strings with equal probability?
@ais523 Just two.
Just roll it enough times.
ASCII code point + null byte
@jrich interesting that you're trying, at least; are you basing it on the existing JavaScript solution for n=1 or is this something new?
1 hour ago, by flawr
Would anyone mind a reduction of occurences of goat (in all it's variations) as well as the ;__;-face?
@ais523 yeah similar idea.
right now i need to find a way to assign a variable to any value (so no referenceerror) while being able to take two removals
23:20
@Artyer A really bad choice if you ask me, but don't worry. In my opinion the word "goat" just gets mentioned too frequently here recently.
variable=variable=variable=top=/ / //
111
is the closest I've come so far
Perl's concept of barewords is typically considered highly dubious
but it really helps in this sort of problem
(an unrecognised identifier is truthy, numerically zero, and stringises to its spelling)
originally this was added to make Perl/English polyglots easier, apparently
unfortunately, in JavaScript a random variable like skjsdkdsjkasd will throw a referenceerror
which bricks the program
is it possible to catch it? not that I can think of a way to spell try reliably
catching it would start the problem of matching braces...
23:23
@jrich Could you not use object.randomVariableName for undefined instead of referenceError
matching pairs are rarely a problem
though i tried onerror but couldnt figure out how to preventdefault
@Artyer remove the dot and it breaks
although in JavaScript they might be because you don't have a 1-char comment symbol
or misspell object and it breaks
the sad part about writing a radiation hardened quine is remember you have to output all the precautions you take :(
23:26
that's normally the easy part though
(a radiation softened quine is another story)
once you find a way to reliably guard some code so that it runs only if uncorrupted
you can store an encoding of all your guards in there
I have 82 tabs open and yet paging/memory pressure is in the green; only 4 GB real memory.
for me, that's the setTimeout trick which surpressed the errors
unfortunately misspelling setTimeout = reference error...
so gotta set all of the misspellings to some valid function
which boils down to the question of how to set a variable to something, anything
it's frustrating lol
Allo allo!
hello :)
@Qwerp-Derp Hi!
23:36
Find three existing variables `x`, `y`, `z`, for which `xy` and `yz` are also pre-existing, then do:
variable=variable=variable=variable=variable=x=y==z+ + +111
Wait what
I'm trying to figure out if you can do it with fewer pre-existing names, it kind-of feels like you should be able to
oh, even that doesn't work, if letters get deleted from y
Oh yeah... can someone please review this?
