Holy cow, this user really messed up their folders. Drag and drop ftw.

back on topic, the "Steal" ability allows you to copy the last action the person did.
should that include Slice, Step, and Smile?

What are you talking about?

who?
if me, I'm talking about my KoTH :)

A ticket I'm working where a user can't find their email
That's a small subset of their folders under their Inbox

hey, maybe they have it organized by county, city, street. For all we know, there's a Montgomery St in Woodlands in Montgomery County :)
the digits are obviously the last digit in their zip code :)

I think that's giving them way too much credit.
Most users need to be hit with a clue-by-four.

@NathanMerrill how does "steal" work?

what do you mean?
the last action they perform you add as an action to your action list

8:13 PM
...Fierljeppen is nuts.
3

it'll stay there for 10 turns

does it perform the stolen action that turn

@Lynn @Mego @DJMcMayhem Sparr was going to try and organise a small code golf/esolang conference for next year, so it's not quite as made up as you thought. :P

also, how does it "replace this one" for 10 turns, but have a cooldown of 5?

@PhiNotPi no. You get to perform it when you want
@PhiNotPi I believe I put it on cooldown after it gets "unreplaced"
aka, you can steal again after 15 turns
@PhiNotPi oh, that's not true. it has a mana cost of 5, not a cd of 5

8:15 PM
the table says cd

yeah, I need to fix the table
anyways, I'm thinking that Slice, Step, and Smile aren't going to be stealable

Regarding table formatting, I recommend moving mana/cd to the left of the description column. Also, removing the horizontal dividers will make it one-half the length.
will the bot know what it is stealing beforehand?

Hmmm...I'm using an auto-formatter. I'll see if I can do that
@PhiNotPi I can certainly give it that info, and if Step/Slice are stealable, then I definitely will give it that info
also, while mana/cd is smaller than the description, its less important than it

okay, keep it to the right then

@El'endiaStarman There are amazing sports all over the world that are very regionalized. Like, I just learned about Castelling, which is insane.

8:21 PM
It looks like the name column can be narrower, though.

yeah, I plan on fixing that. Its because it doesn't treat the <b> or <i> tags correctly

how close are you to finishing the controller?

the biggest chunk I need to do is the player API
I've nearly got the Character (logic for how characters act) finished
all of the actions are finished
oh, and the map, but it should be really easy, and not far from what KoTHComm provides

Which KOTH is this?

Fellowship

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

Nathan MerrillBattle of the Fellowships king-of-the-hill epic In this challenge, you are going to create a Fellowship with the goal of defeating all other fellowships in battle. Your group will consist of 3 characters. Each character moves independently of the rest of their team, but they will need to work...

@MartinEnder Yeah, I did hear about that. It sounds cool, but San Francisco is a long ways away...

Can we telecommute to that

@NathanMerrill It seems much more finished than when I last saw it

thanks :)
I dropped the whole "preselect your abilities"
and tried to solidify on terms

8:34 PM
Now, tbf, I'm a lot closer than a lot of other users, but still two full days of driving is a lot

I think the Percentages stack multiplicatively should be more bold. I didn't notice that at all until the comments

imgur.com/gallery/FoPOk Someone just need to actually create this game lol

@DJMcMayhem Yeah, I've done a full day of driving before. I shudder to think of two days (or three days as it would be for me).

Could always fly o_o

That's pricy

8:39 PM
I'd have to swim. ._.

That could take months

In Europe, the petrol for two days' worth of driving would probably cost about the same as a plane ticket (possibly more)

Yet another reason to swim. ;)

CMC: Figure out the cheapest method of travel for you to get to golfcon

@MartinEnder How much does it cost? I thought it's roughly the same as over here (conversion factored in)

8:41 PM
@Yodle Too broad without limits on the ETA.

@DJMcMayhem I haven't compared prices for several years, but when I did in 2008 or so, US prices were like a quarter of German prices

if (teleportation.exists) teleportTo("SanFransico");
actually teleporting would probably be super expensive...

CMC: Find the longest golf answer in a traditionally-short esolang (e.g., CJam, Pyth, Jelly, 05AB1E, etc.) in a non-KG challenge.

currently you pay something between 1.30 and 1.50 €/l in Germany (about 1.10 for diesel)

8:43 PM
conway's game of life -> actually good music

I've got this CJam answer at 116 bytes.

@TimmyD that's usually boring because it's going to be some challenge that requires compressing huge amounts of data

@MartinEnder Fixed

@TimmyD Does it have to be golf?

@MartinEnder That's like $1 cheaper than where I am in the US currently ._.

8:44 PM
@Dennis haha, I think I know which answer you have in mind

@TheveryevilROFLcopter 10/10 Would play again

(that was my first idea as well)

@Dennis Fixed again.

@MartinEnder 0_0 Unless I did something wrong, that's $6.23 / gallon. That's crazy

8:45 PM
yeah, I know, none of them are an esolang :)

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Wow

@DJMcMayhem Wait, maybe I math'd wrong then...

@DJMcMayhem Calculating in gallons? :P

@TheveryevilROFLcopter no code, though

Look pretty easy to create

@Yodle I could have done something wrong also

1 gallon ~ 3 liters, 1.3-1.5€ ~$1.4

I'll believe wolfram instead. ;)

8:47 PM
@Yodle A gallon is actually closer to 4 liters (3.78 for US gallons).

It's like $2.40/gallon for me right now

@Dennis Reminds me of a Simpsons episode where Homer tries out a esoteric car.

I got gas for $1.96/gallon this morning

Oh yeah I did mess up, its like $6/gallon I think.

From a country that no longer exists, shift to Y to go forward, and the mileage was measured in hectares per liter of kerosene.

8:48 PM
Last time I was in my home state it was under $2, but at my internship here it's like $2.5

@NathanMerrill Oh whoa.

I mean, I suppose that wasn't code golf

don't we have a restricted-source challenge where you can't repeat a character?

8:51 PM
@Dennis Dang, that is a really cool answer.

@NathanMerrill might not be possible for some languages. you could perhaps score by the maximum number of repeats?

sure, but tie breaker code-golf

yeah

the closest I've found is:

Q: Hello world! with NO repetition

TimtechIn any programming language that existed before this question was asked, write a program (not a function) that outputs the characters Hello world! followed by a newline. Your program: should not use any character more than once (including whitespace) should only use ASCII characters should not ...

but its pop-con

@TimmyD :) Was fun to write too (for some definitions of fun).

8:53 PM
That's a minor inconvenience. You can't put a price on nature. — Dennis ♦ Sep 25 '15 at 15:56

@quartata The source code is 10^199 bytes long and you suppose it isn't golf? :P

@Dennis Well....

It'd be great if we had a list of "standard tasks", where the standard tasks wasn't the challenge, but could be combined with other restrictions to make it interesting
I don't just want to do "Generate a prime" or "Hello World" again

Oh, wasn't there some proposal about like a Duct Tape Golf challenge?
Where you had to combine previous answers from other challenges?

@NewMainPosts smh why do people downvote/close vote boring challenges but answer them anyway?

@TheveryevilROFLcopter You know that Conor also has a language named Y right

9:06 PM
codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/96255/53745 Who downvoted? It's perfectly valid
@quartata Oh...

@DJMcMayhem Pretty sure those groups of people are mutually exclusive, or close to it.

I'm not actually sure what's "unclear" about the challenge.

@TheveryevilROFLcopter github.com/ConorOBrien-Foxx/Y :P

@quartata My languages is fancier... ?

^^^

9:07 PM
@MartinEnder I think people are bothered by the Gold star if you use less than 6 unique characters to do so.

I agree. The challenge should remain open, but feel free to downvote :)

@Doorknob Fine. Revised question: why do the worst challenges get the most answers?

But people seem to close things they don't like as unclear

@quartata I've done something like this on previous challenges

Oh also I suppose this doesn't really make sense
> (at least) the 6 characters []()!+.
> at least
I could just do g.+ in CG hahaha

9:08 PM
its clear, just abusable :)

@quartata My sh solution is cat /dev/urandom ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's not unclear at all, just (in the immortal words of CJY) boooorring.

@Doorknob That challenge is significantly less boring

@El'endiaStarman unless its java

Why Java make an exception?

Incidentally, I'm paraphrasing Bruce Lee:
> I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
