ZgarbDraw an indexed fractal code-golf ascii-art fractal Introduction Consider a 2×2 matrix, indexed as follows: 0 1 2 3 We define a family of fractal-like patterns F(L), where L is a list of these indices, as follows. If L == [], then F(L) is the 3×3 pattern ### ### ### If L != [], then l...

Out of curiosity, who agrees with me?
Ehhhh.
I don't, only because I can't think of equivalencies.
22:05
Oh well. At least you got an answer.
Maybe I've pissed someone off enough to make their own answer.
tac
tac
@ZachGates it stands for right hand side, there's an equivalent for every overloadable operator, that is, when the object is on the RHS
kek
I didn't down vote.
I don't agree entirely, but I don't disagree either.
@tac Oh, awesome. Thanks!
I just released Retina 0.8.0. It comes with compound stages, per-line mode and match limits for all stage types. It severely breaks backwards-compatibility, so even if you're already a user please have a look at the new docs, which have been moved to the GitHub wiki. (cc @mbomb007, @NinjaBearMonkey, @randomra, @Sp3000, @TheNumberOne, @Dennis, @DigitalTrauma, @FryAmTheEggman).
13
@Dennis you know what to do :)
@regular Retina users, please let me know if you encounter any bugs in the new version and I'll try fixing them asap.
@MartinBüttner ooh
22:08
@MartinBüttner I want to be carbon copied! :D
Yeah! I've written in retina before!

A: Print all the numbers! (At least, as many as possible.)

Cᴏɴᴏʀ O'BʀɪᴇɴAnswer 1, Retina, 0 characters The empty program outputs the number of matches on the input. Since the empty program matches the input once, 1 is outputted.. Try it online!

>_>
classy.
It's almost as bad as Doorknob's first pyth program
and original :P
22:09
<_<
I do like retina, but haven't found a good excuse to use it recently.
Btw, if anyone does read the new docs, please let me know if you can think of any way to clarify parts of it. Some things, especially in the first few sections still feel a bit clumsy.
@MartinBüttner Does that mean we're going to have to start specifying version, like with Python 2/3?
@NathanMerrill I don't quite understand what you're suggesting. Are you suggesting that they act more like different activator commands than flags, or something different?
> Python 2/3
For when you only need two-thirds of Python.
@NathanMerrill if you really want to use the old version...
this is not the first update I'm making to Retina and it hasn't been an issue so far.
@MartinBüttner if it breaks things, then it must make some tasks longer
22:12
of course
as did any update so far
oh
my bad, sorry :)
@MartinBüttner I do / did.
I don't think it does
except maybe really obscure edge cases
I'll let you know if I come up with one.
22:12
lol ok
it's mostly that I've changed the meaning of a character to have a better mnemonic, but added a new one to replicate the old behaviour
> which reverses the process
@CoolestVeto A button, or a lever, or anything else that you use to "start" is part of the byte count, just like a function definition is included
@Dennis what is this magic
@NathanMerrill Oh, gotcha. I thought you meant what Conor was saying.
22:15
@MartinBüttner Does Jelly now support J's function inverter &.?
@MartinBüttner Zigzagifying just means getting the elements from certain indices. Unzigzagifying consists in placing them there. I don't actually use the matrix in the forward challenge (just pairs of indices), so reversing the process is straightforward.
@Zgarb No, I simply grade up twice instead of once.
@EasterlyIrk Up-voted. I hadn't thought about it like this.

It's bitter-sweat.
Yep, sweat is bitter.
It's actually salty.
sweat is more salty than bitter
one does not simply ninja Dennis?
22:20
But it is both.
How would you know
Don't be so salty.
If @Dennis gets golfing magic, I get tasting magic.
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ ಠ_ಠ
salty = bitter
22:21
@EasterlyIrk cats cannot taste sweet, so that may be a problem to your tasting magic
They can taste umami though, which humans have problems with.

rly
22:23
A makefile is a file containing a set of directives used with the make build automation tool. == Overview == Most often, the makefile directs make on how to compile and link a program. Using C/C++ as an example, when a C/C++ source file is changed, it must be recompiled. If a header file has changed, each C/C++ source file that includes the header file must be recompiled to be safe. Each compilation produces an object file corresponding to the source file. Finally, if any source file has been recompiled, all the object files, whether newly made or saved from previous compilations, must be linked...

I don't have one. I generally just use whatever the style guide of the language supports
why is "I write everything on one line" not an option

how can a style guide stupport support something
the same way you can support a cause

Editing the number moves it.
@AquaTart it has a width property that determines how far the green bar stretches right
@Quill Ah.
I mean, uh, magic?
22:37
@Vihan You don't even need a Makefile for that - if you just type make main, GNU make has enough built-in rules to figure out that compilation for you
@DigitalTrauma yes but I'm dumb and I don't know that

What 4 letter word is the most anagrammable as other 4 letter words?
@ZachGates I don't know how to respond to that
Somebody should change their name to Buffalo so it can be used as an adjective, verb and noun
@Quill You know, cause it's negative. So the opposite of starring (positive) should be mooning (negative)
@ZachGates I would think the opposite of a star would be a black hole, not a moon

What symbol to you most represents the concept of binding?
@ZachGates is it possible to input a float into Gogh?
@Vihan Use the d flag (source)
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ In the ASCII range, probably &
@Zgarb Cool! How about in the range of characters supported by a monospace font?
23:33
Depends on what exactly you mean by binding though
Binding an argument to a function; if f(x,y) = x+y, then f (bind symbol) (3) = f(x,3)
@Vihan: Note that .5 will eval to 0.5 and 1..2 will eval to 1.02
Dunno if it's in any monospace font, but how about
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ So beta reduction?
23:36
Probably lambda but that's not ASCII
@Zgarb I think that works.
@AquaTart You mean balsamic reduction?
@AlexA. mm I love balsamic
Except apparently all the good balsamics have lead in them
Worth it
23:38
Does that look not bad?
@ZachGates ah, okay, thanks
No problem
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Is that #fff on #000? Maybe tone down the contrast a little
@Doorknob #fff on #303030
@ZachGates also a suggestion is to have quotes auto-close, so "foo -> "foo"
23:43
@Doorknob Would #dedede on #303030 be better?
does anyone know a way to do matrix operations modulo 2 in Python (in GF_2), like inverting or solving a linear system?
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ maybe... I can't tell without seeing it :P
@ZachGates does gogh have ifs?

question. Why do you have a TLD from the Central African Republic?
@Doorknob iirc, those domains are free
23:58
Oh.
I honestly forgot how I got that.
.cf is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the Central African Republic. It is administered by the Central African Society of Telecommunications. Dot CF is an initiative of the Societe Centrafricaine de Telecommunications (SOCATEL) in Bangui, Central African Republic in partnership with Freenom (Previously known as Freedom Registry). The domain has been made available for free registration on Freenom website. == External links == IANA .cf whois information dot cf page Freenom, a registrar offering .cf registration == References... ==
