@Zionmyceliaadamancy whos that
@Zionmyceliaadamancy are you one of them
@Seggan Yes :P
I teach people Jelly, I hope that I can read it :P
@Zionmyceliaadamancy to consider yourself proficient in Malbolge is... bold
@Seggan She's written a list interpreter in Malbolge. I think she's more than "proficient" :P
and comparatively..
also hi TTNB its been a while
CMC: Given integers m, k, output the lowest n such that gcd(n^k + m, (n + 1)^k + m) != 1

wolfram language: the above message but with the non-monospaced text replaced with a combination of @#$%[] run in mathematica
wow you can do this:

heehee I love to share complete screenshots and wonder what other people assume about me from them
You have TryAPL open cause you're trying to write an APL answer to my CMC :P
magnificient work <tries to insert a sherlock holmes joke but fails because forgets all relevant quotes>
01:05
I did try making further progress toward the CMC to make up for filling the room with nonseriousness but desmos didn't exactly appreciate it

Q: Use a Finite Combo in Magic the Gathering to Produce Graham's Number

ZagsProduce Grahm's Number in Magic the Gathering using the fewest number of cards and without using any infinite combos. Rules: Producing Graham's number means do anything that requires Graham's number to represent the game state. For example, you could produce Graham's number 2/2 zombie tokens, h...

Q: Heres a fun one: Programming Language

user114379Let's make a programming language... It's simple: All your language has to do is Print something to a console That's it. Really! Since it's code golf, least bytes wins. Standard loophole rules apply; bla bla bla, you know! Get CODING!

@NewPosts Ugh
@NewPosts VTCs plz
04:39
Is no one online?

My language has fancy colored errors now
Why have terminated char literals at all? Why not just 'a
Good point
It's not specifically meant to be a golfing language btw, but still there is no real reason for the closing '
IIRC some c-like language adopted that about thirty years ago
Interesting way to say "missing semicolon"
07:56
Programming one-handed is hard.

@emanresuA I hope that's not a useless use of cat

Why was fibonacci protected and should it be?
It recieves the occasional incorrect answer simply because itt's such a common problem

A: Language nominations for the "Learn You a Lang for Great Good" chat event

emanresu AKnight A pretty simple prefix lang that's fairly easy to learn. For more stuff, see the LoTM post or the github repo.

@emanresuA automatic protection
13:43
@Zionmyceliaadamancy Vyxal, 11 bytes (I think) λ›"?e?+ġċ;ṅ
@LYaLNominations Wow the month is nearly over and finally we can learn the language
14:12
AICMC: Given a string, return the longest substring with unique characters
we have to use artificial intelligence?
it's generated by AI
oh
Vyxal, 6 bytes: Try it Online!
dang
didn't realise there was a shortcut for ¨=U
someone (might have been me) implemented it a few months ago
14:44
@emanresuA No, it doesn't need to be protected
Basically, the only reasons to protect a question are: if there are more deleted answers than non-deleted answers, or it's had multiple spam answers in a short amount of time
And, for the second one, it can be unprotected after the activity on the question has died down
@lyxal its your language
Doesn't mean I can't forget everything about it
Well, not everything, but not nothing either
15:05
First syntax highlighter I've ever made, yay: github.com/TvoozMagnificent/SunSip/blob/main/syntax.py
@PyGamer0 I just saw you leave and join back again lol
@lyxal Python: lambda u:''.join({i:0 for i in u}.keys())
15:20
Hello @Zionmyceliaadamancy I have to complain your name is too long to spell correctly
Even though they are supposed to be real words
I should probably change it back tbh
me too thinks so
I even think we should vote on it
i think so
CMC: should @Zionmyceliaadamancy change his name back, as the joke is long gone?
gotta go...
@NumberBasher Vote all you want, I'm changing it back lol
And thus, I am caird once more
Chat hasn't noticed apparently
Yeah, chat's always behind the times
Chat still uses Internet Explorer to connect to the SE servers
15:35
I vote for the long name
16:31
Y'know, I think I've realized why my taste in programming languages is so cursed. It's because my first experiences in programming were TI-BASIC and Google Apps Script. It's like wondering why your child doesn't enjoy an expensive steak, when you raised them eating nothing but hardtack and carrot cake.
ah
...what the fuck even is google apps script
At least I ran away from PHP as soon as I could, and stopped trying to learn C++ after a few weeks. Could've been a lot worse.
@UnrelatedString It's like outdated JavaScript with some built-in APIs for making Google Docs add-ons and stuff
16:47
@RadvylfPrograms TI-Basic is actually pretty cool, imo.
@mousetail You can remove the space after 0
You also don't need the .keys(), because dicts return their keys by default when iterated over
@NumberBasher uh ok so?
@cairdcoinheringaahing hello again caird
long time no see
although i saw some Zion person with the same pfp...
17:02
@mousetail hmm, substrings are usually required to be contiguous?
@Adám It is, although it definitely didn't prepare me for writing clean code in more modern languages :p
@PyGamer0 Yeah, that was my twin sister
She's big into Jewish mushrooms for some reason
Very adamant about it too
@cairdcoinheringaahing What are those?

Auricularia auricula-judae, which has the recommended English name jelly ear, also known as Judas’s ear or Jew’s ear, is a species of fungus in the order Auriculariales. Basidiocarps (fruit bodies) are brown, gelatinous, and have a noticeably ear-like shape. They grow on wood, especially elder. The specific epithet is derived from the belief that Judas Iscariot hanged himself from an elder tree; the common name "Judas's ear" was largely eclipsed by the corruption "Jew's ear". The fungus can be found throughout the year in Europe, where it normally grows on wood of broadleaf trees and shrubs. It...

The SO question generates every combination of letters, so 26**number of stars total phrases
While the old question generates just 26 total always

I don't remember if functions are still static though

Do y'all have ES6 yet?
I remember trying to use for ... of in like, 2017, and it not working
23:28
I have ES2202, where JS has finally converged to Haskell
thank fuck
It's still crazy to me that JS only got an integer type two years ago
These days most modern browsers support latest (even not-yet-standard) features pretty quickly I think
...except Safari or whatever
Safari is sus
ios safari is sussier
23:52
@Bubbler I was talking about Google Apps Script, not asking a question to everyone here :p
Too bad, you didn't ask for our opinion but you got it
Your browser's JS version, a famously subjective matter :p
and also apparently it still needs to be enabled manually or something
