Q: Increment an Array

Calvin's HobbiesGiven a nonempty array of positive integers, "increment" it once as follows: If all the array elements are equal, append a 1 to the end of the array. For example: [1] -> [1, 1] [2] -> [2, 1] [1, 1] -> [1, 1, 1] [3, 3, 3, 3, 3] -> [3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 1] Else, increment the first element in the arr...

Pointless random notes: 1. !@#$%^&*()_+ looks like a language that you can do challenge with but you can't multiply the top two stack numbers without messing the rest of the stack
2. Lambda calculus and regex produces unbelievably short answers
3. @Razetime

hello there radioactive one

4. "Join the fun not recreate the fun" is useful advice for everyone, one that I've been neglecting for so long, trying to do something significant.
hello there razetime

been a while.

yes
I hate 1+

good thing lmao
whathave you moved on to

@Razetime still looking lol

i see

@Razetime why :(

esolangs.org/wiki/Quiner is a new good one i found

@null well, 1+ and MAWP do have a limited amount of fun things possible

9:30 AM
especially 1+
It's like, put together a bunch of random commands and you get a language!
fuck
is there a way to convert [] to 0 and leave everything else alone in 05ab1e

probably check if it equals [] and then logical not

that's too long-feeling
Wait
I think summing works
fuck
i hate everything
i can't do anything

@null to which challenge?

1 hour later…

it's go time, gamers.
Welcome to the 18th Biweekly Mini Golf. During this event, we'll post some CMCs (Chat Mini Challenges) for you all to solve. A new one will be added every 5 to 10 minutes. Feel free to keep suggesting drafts during the event. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. Good luck!

There are AI-generated CMCs?

@wizzwizz4 There are AI-generated 1+ quines?
(endofnonsense)

AICMC: Given a list of integers, find the largest product you could make from 3 integers in that array.

@lyxal Repetitions allowed?

@null sure
AICMC: Given an array of integers, return a pair with smallest difference between them.

@lyxal repetitions allowed?

12:21 PM
no
all unique

that's a joke

i know
but the clarification stands

i think i know who deleted their account

AICMC: Given an integer n, output the digital root of its factorial

if they actually deleted their account a couple of days ago
Sure, if you like! — user100690 Jun 19 '21 at 12:01

12:25 PM
@PyGamer0 Who's that, A _?

@null who is A _?

@PyGamer0 @lyxal
@cairdcoinheringaahing digital root
for 9 it should be 9 not 0

@PyGamer0 the person who helped me create and develop Keg and Vyxal

@null Fine, !%9o9

12:28 PM
I'm back

@PyGamer0 A braining person

wha

Maybe keep the swearing down?

what'd I do?

i meant Recursive Co.
@GingerIndustries you slept?

12:29 PM
@PyGamer0 or did I?

@GingerIndustries so you imply you are a physical being who does not sleep?

GingerBot seems to work but can't alphabet very well
¯\_(ಠ_ಠ)_/¯

why are yall creating a natural language
is it because of that challenge a couple of days ago?

why not?
@null just use rgksp instead
means a similar thing

@GingerIndustries or ¥${=^°×,hihgbha8₹+-238

12:33 PM
@PyGamer0 That's... new to me
:/

@GingerIndustries its called keyboard smashing
its when you smash your keyboard onto your moniter out of frustration

@PyGamer0 I know what it is, my question is why do you have ¥ bound to a key on your keyboard

@GingerIndustries i am on android

@PyGamer0 Android phones have an on-screen keyboard. Did you fold your phone in half?

@lyxal That can't be, 'cause that the cube of the largest element.

12:44 PM
@GingerIndustries what?

@GingerIndustries You don't?

@wizzwizz4 hihgbha

@wizzwizz4 I can type ¥, but it requires 4 keypresses (ctrl + shift + y + =), so it'd be pretty impressive to type while keyboard smashing

@GingerIndustries ¥ºEا&©NŦ‘£ľ3mv@:M£☺☹ð:£Đł©×

@lyxal did you use GPT for the AICMCs?

12:46 PM
yes

@lyxal someday I'll get my hands on it
then we'll have some fun

Is there a golfed way to round up to the nearest int?
In python

@graffe -int(-x) is the best I can think of. This doesn't work!

That's pretty cool

@wizzwizz4 whats the difference between that and int(x)

@PyGamer0 Nothing, turns out. Python int rounds towards 0. (oops.)

1:32 PM
@wizzwizz4 mod abuse!!1!

I'm back
@wizzwizz4 Technically int just truncates the number at the decimal

That's the same as rounding towards 0

@pxeger nosans li fos

Let's keep TNB english only

I think that roughly translates to "good enough"

Ooh, “recursively sum the digits of n factorial” is slightly shorter.

Just a reminder, we still have a pending synonym that should be voted on. If you've got a tag score of 5 or more in , please vote
(If you can't be bothered to check, or don't know how, if you have the score or not, just try voting and it'll only let you if you do)

Everybody should go and upvote some answers, so that more users will have 5 score and it will get done faster
Alternatively, can a mod just override it and approve it anyway?

@cairdcoinheringaahing 2018 2019 2020

you're the only 20k+ user who's particularly active in moderation (other than moderators themselves), so that makes sense

@pxeger I also unprotect questions very quickly after Community auto-protects them, cause the only reason for auto-protection now is spam answers, and Smokey pings me whenever spam is posted here :P
@cairdcoinheringaahing I wonder how posts get locked by Community? Spam-locks?

@cairdcoinheringaahing surely you can't expect me to vote against my native spelling

@Neil It hurts, but the z was there first (at least, for the tags) :/

@cairdcoinheringaahing what is this?

@Fmbalbuena Users with 15,000 reputation or more can "protect" questions, meaning that users can't answer unless they've earned 10 or more reputation on the site

CMC: Hello, World!
FGITW wins

For most sites, this is a useful feature - it prevents non-answers like "Thanks", or "this helped me too" on popular questions. We don't really get those, and protecting questions actually prevents a lot of new users from engaging with the site, so protecting is less useful here. Community auto-protects questions that get spam answers, so I unprotect those unless they need to be protected

5:31 PM
Would it be ok to create a bot that autounautoprotects questions?

@pxeger there's a word

@pxeger It would need 15k reputation

it could use your account

We do have some questions that should stay protected, so it should only unprotect questions that got protected by Community and that have a deleted, locked answer

5:44 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing interesting number of account destructions

emanresu A did find 300+ spam users to be destroyed a while back :P

compared to 2020, pretty much all activity is up, which is nice. interestingly community suspended over double the number of users but mods only suspended 2 more (7 → 9)
destructions are up over 100-fold kekw. deletions up from 0 → 8, and we've contacted more users (which... might have something to do with science)

in hyper-neutrino's domain, May 6 '21 at 11:13, by caird coinheringaahing
@hyper-neutrino I look forward to seeing the 2021 in moderation stats :P

reviews are actually down somewhat

You alone had destroyed 165 by April :P

5:48 PM
could have to do with increased mod activity
or better quality overall

@hyper-neutrino Down by around 1000 total

how does that compare between mod reviews and community reviews?

105 total mod reviews in 2020 vs 625 in 2021
So the mods did 500 more reviews, and the Community did 1500 less in 2021 compared to 2020

hm, I see. so even if every mod review was the first review on a task that needs two reviews we're still down 500 more community reviews comparatively
hopefully that corresponds to an increase in quality = fewer tasks needed :P
alternatively, maybe we're deleting tasks lol. i don't think the stats get counted if someone deletes/closes the question and the task gets dequeued

> This counts every review that was submitted
So yeah, if a post is deleted before someone submits a review, it won't count

CMC: Generate the largest integer you can

Define integer.
Like, can we just print 9s forever?
Or does it have to represented internally as a numeric type? Integer type? What about languages that only ave floats?

It must terminate in finite time.

@cairdcoinheringaahing Nope, the log doesn't show anything that would indicate it wasn't working right or that the socket was down at the time.

@Adám It must be internally represented as a numeric type

Does anyone know how to score this ^ ?

well idk what the score is but you can increase it by doing import sys and changing to sys.maximize

Sorry, invalid as you can’t use constants over 10

oops

you should never be doing from module import something bc you can just do from module import*

7:32 PM
@emanresuA now fixed

7:53 PM
ok I think i've made a bigger number

The higher-scoring numbers are truly ridiculous

@wizzwizz4 oh no. So nothing shorter than int(math.ceil(x)) ?
I am looking for the shortest way to round up to the nearest integer in python
Currently on 17 bytes!
Can anyone beat 17 bytes?

8:09 PM
what are your 17 bytes?

@grandBagel int(math.ceil(x)), presumably.

int(math.ceil(x))
@wizzwizz4 yes
Actually what I really want is log base 2 of the absolute value of x rounded up to the nearest integer.

@graffe try math.ceil(x)//1

As in int(math.ceil(math.log(abs(x), 2)))
@grandBagel that's nice

@graffe try math.log2

8:13 PM
@graffe Is x an integer?

@wizzwizz4 sadly no
@grandBagel oh cool
@wizzwizz4 what could you do if it were?

@graffe (x-1).bit_length()+1

@wizzwizz4 -2, ~-x.bit_length()+1 (I think)

len(bin(x))-2?

9:10 PM
@pxeger ooh .. Interesting
@wizzwizz4 thanks!

Q: Make every fixed list

Wheat WizardWe are to define the idea of a fixed list as follows: A fixed list is a list of fixed lists. This definition is recursive so it's useful to look at some examples. The empty list [] is a fixed list. And list of empty lists is a fixed list. e.g. [[],[],[]] Any list of the above two is also a fix...

… Oh, my. Somebody answered a question on Windows Phone! And it was only yesterday, too!

@NewPosts I feel this is a duplicate for some reason...

It does have some familiar aspects.
But I couldn't find any challenge where the strategy could be transferred very easily to this one.
Doesn't mean it isn't though.
