3:00 PM
@Dehodson Maybe move the calls to c and v to inside of j?

@Zacharý oh gosh, good catch. That shaved 22 whole bytes.
j=(a,s)=>(i=0,s=s.match(r=/[aeiou]/ig).join``,a.split(r).reduce((a,c)=>a+s[i++%s.length]+c))
s=x=>y=>[j(x,y),j(y,x)]

Whoah, didin't mean like that
But it works!
I can't really golf in Python or JS or the like by myself, but I'm good at golfing other people's code!

That you are! That's a big reduction already :P

I did ... reduce the byte count!

*rolls eyes*
we need a way to filter out jokes like that

3:07 PM
:D
Hey, we did join forces now. But that's only for a certain length of time

ngn
@Dehodson .reduce() can take i as its third arg (it maybe off by 1)

j=(a,s,i=0,S=s.match(r=/[aeiou]/gi))=>a.replace(r,q=>S[i++%S.length])
s=x=>y=>[j(x,y),j(y,x)]
you don't need reduce, just a simply replace should be sufficient

@Cowsquack Wow, that's excellent. I never thought about using default arguments like that either.
I also didn't realize you could use a function in the second argument of replace. That's a game changer.

3:24 PM
Late to the party, I'm looking for an API or interactive user interface for very lightweight python programmers, that they can be taught use instead of regular expressions. Would you particularly recommend any of this contest's implementations? the target audience are researchers who do not need to become programmers, but do not to work on extracting surface-form stuff from texts for some of their research. Regex is just too obtuse for such audience. — matanster 4 hours ago
^ how should I respond to this guy?

Just don't respond.
> do not need to become programmers

This is from the 2D pattern matching language-design challenge.

My answer would be "Just teach them a programming language".
@PhiNotPi Yes I know.
Is there any new builtin like ¹Ðf in Jelly?

ngn
3:42 PM
@LeakyNun what is this? the golfer in me can't help noticing that you can use sum() instead of reduce(operator.__or__,...) at least in some places

@Dennis the array of questions over main

ngn
@LeakyNun hm... actually no, can't use sum(), uniqueness of bits isn't guaranteed

4:07 PM
I hope Google and Facebook etc. just have the button "I don't care about the privacy of my account, don't ever lock me out"
I just get account locked for no reason.

um, were you born in 2003 or after? if so, your SE account might as well be subject to deletion too, if you leave in the EU

why did this weird thing happen, the age restriction on all sites is 13 everywhere but 16 in the eu

@EriktheOutgolfer What are you talking about?

@EriktheOutgolfer You sure mean 2005?

no, I mean 2003

4:12 PM
why though?

My accounts?

if you live in the EU, you now have to be at least 16yo to have an account at the internet, but your legal "birthday" IIRC is January 1 of the same year as your biological birthday

why is that
did that change with the latest gdpl ?

yes, GDPR is responsible

why is that weird thing

4:14 PM
also, EU can't force age limits on citizens outside of it

that 16 years thing is really weird
and why are governments trying to discourage people from sharing their own personal info

people are often ignorant
parents are often irresponsible

then let them face the consequences!

@EriktheOutgolfer that sentence should be made into a billboard of galactic proportions and said billboard should be put in orbit.

@gnu-nobody Exactly!

4:19 PM
im really pleased that they do not accept turkey into eu

those are just arguments that might be used if a government is asked about it

why should one be 16 just to use the internet properly?

that's what doesn't make sense

im 14 and can use the internet quite nice
like
the only personal info a person can get about me online is my age and nationality

if your nationality is in the EU, then bye bye account

4:20 PM
not in eu

@EriktheOutgolfer Now tell me who'll ever bother to delete it? :P

SE is quite cautious about such stuff, actually

Hey look, I'm from China now! :P
6

and they might delete it even if you're now legal but your registration was illegal at the time you registered (not sure if the fact that I registered 3 years ago makes me eligible for deletion too, since I was already legally 16 when GDPR was put into action)

what if i use tor or stuff to go into internet

4:23 PM
good luck hiding from your ISP then
that's when you have completely different issues...
I mean, why would you use Tor for legal purposes

i use it to go into imgur and pastebin

FWIW, I think that the only accounts that should be eligible for deletion should be those that were illegal at the time they were created. The limit was 13 years old when I joined, so I should be fine.

I don't think I ever reveal my birthday on FB or Gmail anyway...

don't you? you might get asked to confirm it then...

@Mr.Xcoder Of course Im not SE to see it...
@EriktheOutgolfer I think I dont need.

4:26 PM
either ID if you're an adult or parent/guardian if you're a minor I guess, nobody wants to pay hefty fines to the EU because of GDPR violations

Basically I dont want to reveal my info anywhere.

@EriktheOutgolfer (what is ID?)

uh, identity?

why do people be fined because of revealing their own info?
its their info not the govts

4:27 PM
identify in that context, I think

Now Google actually require phone number to make gmail. I hate it.

no, it's not the people who get fined, it's the websites

@EriktheOutgolfer I believe ID stands for "identification document"

@user202729 use protonmail
3

@gnu-nobody im from turkey and theyre right to deny our application

4:28 PM
@betseg why
we are not in the eu they cant do anything
except the government somehow get offended at something on SE and ban it

erdoğan, bad economy, turkish-greek problems, no rights to minorities,censorships etc

SE has criticized Erdoğan so much, yet you're still allowed to visit it :P

@betseg oh the eu application

@EriktheOutgolfer because he doesnt speak english :P

im happy with them not accepting our application
we are an asian country

4:31 PM
@betseg do you think he doesn't have translators? :P
why do I see my name on something I can't understand?!

@EriktheOutgolfer dude, you can not know how ignorant they are

@FrownyFrog Pyth, 6 bytes: s.e*b]

i mean, they banned twitter, youtube, wikipedia etc and they had turkish criticisms for him

@betseg lets move to a private room

Or s*V]MU

4:33 PM
A question: Did anyone here ever make (and finish, publish) a game? Something sort of original, not Snake etc

@gnu-nobody where

like a 2 people chat room

others can join tho :p

@mınxomaτ Eric Tressler, as far as I am aware

Where?

4:34 PM
@gnu-nobody SE chat doesn't have private rooms, except for moderation purposes.

@mınxomaτ Check PPCG-gaming

but it was off topic for this room

@mınxomaτ Here

nevermind, though, i will work on my code now

@Mr.Xcoder Hm, neat.

4:42 PM
@mınxomaτ This one. It's pretty fun, I have 35 hours on record

It's minesweeper, but better

4:55 PM
Anyone know what the rc in .bashrc or .vimrc stands for?

Ooh ty

5:41 PM
I decided that I did too much maths for the past week and I think I’m gonna rest here for 2 days

@Riker :O how to obtain this trading card

it was my first one after playing 12 minutes of goat simulator
I'll give you it if you want lol

@Riker oh wow lol
It's on sale.. I should probably get it

definitely

5:45 PM
Nooooooo sale ended :(
I'll wait for the summer sale then I guess

6:03 PM
@Downgoat You can buy the individual trading cards without needing ot buy the game on the community market
Most of them go for around 30 cents

@Downgoat you can just buy the card yeah
10 cents

> I know what you're going to ask next- Why would a goat play a goat simulator? Why not just be the goat you already are?

Come to think of it, humans do play human simulators sometimes so I guess it's not that strange if goats play goat sims.

> sometimes

I think it's refering to games like the Sims

Practically every game is a "human simulator" of some sort, is my point.

6:11 PM
but they are never marketed as human simulators, while the goat one does

That's a fair point.

in fact, it should have a more specific name but the developers aren't goats
they are out of touch etc.
in an ideal world it would have an authentic goat name that reflects the actual activities that you can do

Terry the Goat Simulator

Terry the Goat Pro <something in goat>

@LeakyNun nooooo

AdmBorkBorkUpper or Lower Wythoff? code-golf decision-problem sequence First, let's talk about Beatty sequences. Given a positive irrational number r, we can construct an infinite sequence by multiplying the positive integers to r in order and taking the floor of each resulting calculation. For example, ...

@ngn but it's more efficient...

7:58 PM
@FrownyFrog :D

bah, se botted me twice today

@Neil What do you mean by "botted"?

8:31 PM
@Zacharý it showed me the "are you a robot" captcha

3 hours later…
11:36 PM
seen both
rekt
@flawr most apply to me too lol
