Removed Syntax Highlighting from localStorage
i can't believe you guys are still playing that
@Pavel A cool incremental game
@GabrielBenamy You posted it for something, no? :P
cuz I was bored
@Pavel it's like cookie clicker with a programming skin
> I suspect something happened and you'd need to get it out of the console.
"I suspect something happened"
wow
insightful
21:04
CMC: Using your js skills, can you get the high score of 998 in polkadotgame.com?
Extra points if it requires very less effort to do it
@KritixiLithos Uh, every JS tags on this page seems to be foreign APIs
The GitHub isn't blocked. Does anyone know how to build it from source, on Windows?
It's a JS game
Which is why I can't figure it out.
Hello
21:13
How do you move in that game
You don't need to build it >_>
@L.Serné Hello
@L.Serné Gluten tag
How do you run it then
Guten Tag Herr Copter
21:13
I don't JS. At all.
@Pavel Open the HTML file
Oh wait it needs to be built
I just finished writing an answer to a challenge, only to find out it had been blocked in the meantime
@TuxCopter I did it, you can do it.
@Pavel Download node and npm, run npm install -g gulp, go to the cloning directory, run npm install && bower install && gulp
@KritixiLithos Where is the source file
thx
21:16
@TuxCopter use the open up Dev tools first
I have dev tools open
Then go to Source
But I can't find the file containing the source
@KritixiLithos On what browser are you?
I'm on mobile now, can't access it
@KritixiLithos k
21:18
Wait, I remember, I couldn't access the source when I did it fit the second, but since I already had it open somehow from the first time, I was able to edit it
Oh the thing is an iframe
If you see in the game's weekly leaderboard, you can see someone with dominating it
Yep, PAO
How did Neil post an answer after the post was put on hold?
I thought you couldn't
@StewieGriffin Seems too hacky since the Q=3 should be part of the program, unless that is the language's only/usual way for providing input.
21:22
Question: How to access the inside of an iframe via JavaScript?
@PythonMaster This is . The server will accept new answers for a little while after so people don't unexpectedly lose what they wrote.
Like after an hour or so?
Thanks by the way... it's quite interesting
IIRC the grace period is several hours.
Huh, I just noticed that my YouTube playback was set to 1.25x for the last few days.
Think of the time you've saved...
21:24
Lol
@TuxCopter all I remember is that it was a specific file that contained the game's source code
Yeah, but to do anything with it I need to access the content of the game iframe
@ConorO'Brien I think I'd soften up some up the challenges that no one has yet done like 4 or 5
Welp, can't install node
Though I loathe changing challenges once posted
21:26
I guess I'll try later
@Pavel I'm the opposite. I always end up with node somehow without even wanting it.
503 and 455 :) polkadotgame.com
hehe, I'll stop messing with it now
@TuxCopter simply go to polkadotgame.com/game.html
@redstarcoder Hm that works too
IDK. Node seems like a useful thing to have.
@MartinEnder meta.codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/10963/26997 and meta.codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/10990/26997 ? Yeah, I suppose you can put me down for one personalized challenge
Did I do one last year? I can remember for whom o.O
21:33
Wasn't it the "Dennis numbers" challenge?
@HelkaHomba Try making an Ender Dragon challenge (since Martin's last name is Ender)
AHHH PolkaDot's JS file don't use semicolons
What! How?
I am dying
help
@HelkaHomba yeah those two. Thanks, I'll get try to get the nomination post ready by the weekend.
21:35
This is why we need a tag
@TuxCopter save_his_life(TuxCopter)
returned True
He's got this
print TuxCopter.isAlive
@Pavel Oh, you're TuxCopter
21:37
Program TuxCopter is not responding...
Segmentation fault (Core dumped)
@HelkaHomba Actually I'm wat.
@Pavel wat
We established this two days ago.
21:39
@HelkaHomba no more blue?
To many new people
@flawr No more posterized snake, Yoda?
@HelkaHomba I mean the diamond colour! Didn't you have a diamond at some point?
@Pavel why do you keep changing your name? It's confuzzling me
I've actually always been Pavel
@flawr I'm just wearing a big hat
21:40
Two days ago I found out wat was also a Russian who moved to Seattle, so we went to the logical conclusion that I am wat.
wat overflow
I think wat was deprecated at some point? Anyway, I see no point in continuing using it.
No, wat is still around. I'm so confused
Well, wat brought us another trivial brainfuck derivative earlier today.
So I'm going to have to agree with the sentiment than we can stop using wat.
CMC: Find the challenge I wrote for 2015 Best of PPCG. I really can't remember
Wat does CMC mean?
You know, someone is going to get kicked for excessive wat usage
4
@Pavel Chat mini challenge
@PythonMaster You might be right. So...perhaps you could stop saying it?
5
21:47
Ah
Hey, anyone there who knows pyth.
Ouch...
@El'endiaStarman i'm not sure wat you're implying...
I'd like someone to answer this : codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/105450/… in pyth, I really like the language and would like to learn it. @Maltysen (Hope you'll)
Nice try with the old username :)
21:51
@HelkaHomba Doing a search for user:26997 with winner or best or ppcg or 2015 yields no results.
@PythonMaster That can't be it, since that was posted in 2015 ...
@TimmyD Why not
Don't you see the one made by Calvin's Hobbies?
Heck, that was even nominated for Best of PPCG 2015
@PythonMaster Looks like you were right.
@TimmyD Precisely, that user wrote the challenge for the nomination
@El'endiaStarman About what? (Notice the usage of all four letters in what)
@PythonMaster Helka's looking for the challenge that he wrote to reward the winner of whichever category it was.
21:54
Right
@PythonMaster No, no. Helka wrote a personalized challenge to a winner of the Best Of post. He's looking for that challenge.
window.onload = (function() {
  var oStart = cg.start.bind(cg);
  cg.start = (function() {
    oStart();
    var oTick = cg.player.tick.bind(cg.player);
    cg.player.tick = (function() {
      for (var i = 0; i < cg.circles.length; ++i) {
        if (cg.circles[i].radius < cg.player.radius) {
          cg.player.x = cg.circles[i].x;
          cg.player.y = cg.circles[i].y;
        } else {
          cg.circles[i].radius = cg.player.radius - 1;
        }
      }
      oTick();
    });
  });
});
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Want my solution?
@TuxCopter Would you mind not posting code without context?
21:55
Yeah was trying to make a bot for polkadotgame.com
Oh lol, I thought you just wanted to cheat
I was going to suggest something like javascript:setInterval(function(){cg.player.radius=999;}, 100);
Circles can be spawned up to playerRadius + 25, so even that wouldn't work
It worked for me ? See the recent top scores of RSC and XXX is I think when I tried to write in "redstarcoder"
@HelkaHomba it would have been about Stewie if you did
@HelkaHomba I also just did searches for user:26997 and the names of the various winners, and found no results
22:00
But it's probably wrong
@PythonMaster That one's from 2015. Look for one from early 2016.
Maybe I didn't end up making one
@HelkaHomba I just checked the Best of 2015 chat room and it seems like that's the case. There's no mention of you making a challenge and Dennis ended up bountying the challenge to draw attention. Maybe you opted out or something.
^^^ What he said
22:17
TFW when you spend the entire day trying to figure out why a segfault is happening, and it's because of one freaking extra ampersand.
A missed challenge, a challenge closed as a dupe, a controversial name change... Yes, it's been a difficult year for our intrepid hero. But hope lingers on the horizon with the dawn of 2016. Will our hero continue his rise to PPCG ultra-stardom? Will Minecraft take over his schedule? Will he reach a third gold badge for questions? Find out in the thrilling continuation of "The PPCG of Our Lives!"

Q: Would a question about creating a framework for a language be valid?

Rohan JhunjhunwalaI understand the title is broad, but this question is not a question about the site, but rather about the scope of this site, and where a specific (style of) question would fit. Here is the question Functions are defined in mathematics with the following notation f(x)=_________________ while fun...

Now I'm curious how that caused a segfault...
22:20
@quartata I was accidentally taking the address of the pointer instead of the value of the pointer
But it worked more than it should have, which threw me off
I hate it when that happens :)
Ikr? If it had failed spectacularly it would have been immediately obvious
Stuff like that is why I've grown fond of very strict types
@TimmyD "continue to rise to PPCG ultra-stardom"? He's already there. :P
@DJMcMayhem Oh I assumed you meant literally &&val
22:24
@TimmyD as if from the source
10/10
@quartata Oh, nope.
doRequestFunc_ = [&requestObj, requestTracker](boost::python::object const & requestValue) -> boost::python::object
{
  auto pState = boost::make_shared<PyRequestStatus>();
  requestObj.Request(T(boost::python::extract<SerializationTraits<T>::BaseType>(requestValue)),
      [pState](int a, std::string const & msg) mutable { pState->Callback(a, msg); }
    );

  if (requestTracker != nullptr)
  {
    requestTracker->Request(T(boost::python::extract<SerializationTraits<T>::BaseType>(requestValue)), nullptr);
I accidentally had &requestTracker instead of just requestTracker
Why are you using boost::make_shared even though you clearly have C++11 :P
I'm not sure. What's the alternative?
22:40
@DJMcMayhem I just meant because std::make_shared is in the STL along with the other smart pointers now
So I just got my account back from being suspended
It said I was suspended automatically by a bot, but I didn't see anything wrong.
Oh well
@Pavel You saw nothing wrong with continuing to use "wat" after implications that it was unwelcome?
Read the Chatiquette if you haven't already.
5
Mostly what confused me was that is said it was done automatically.
Flag confirmed
6 flags or a flag by a mod which is binding
22:51
Ah, makes sense.
I should probably make an effort to stop getting kicked by El'endia. I'll make it my New Year's resolution.
Weirdly worded though. automatically != requires intervention of up to 6 human beings to perform one atomic action
Maybe the deletion is seen as manual, and the suspension as an automatic consequence. Does seem counterintuitive though.
it's likely worded that way so that users don't lash out
if it was a user, then offenders may try to identify and attack members of the community. If it was the system, then you simply try to get around it (which doesn't work, because its actually the members)
23:10
anymore feedback on this?

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

Easterly IrkFind all the coordinates on a path Given a 2D string as input, either as a string with newlines or a list of lines, output the coordinates (x, y) of all the hashes (#) in the list. it has 2 votes, no comments.
> with the dawn of 2016
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ loooks fine to me
cool
I'll wait for more feedback, but I want to post it later today prolly
Matlab/Octave/MATL have a builtin for this.
Or almost this, it doesn't take much more
23:12
I might consider making it into "follow the path, output the coordinates of each step" then
i.e. output the coors/location in the order they appear on the path
I think we then already had a lot of similar challenges.
Many of the shortest path challenges probably just need to be slightly modified.
oic, makes sense
Anyway, some sort of spiraly or labyrinthy testcase would certainly be nice too
23:15
then I'll just keep it as-is
@flawr oh, will do in a bit
Well, if Matlab has a builtin, Mathematica DEFINITLY does.
right now I'm too busy clicking that clicker game gabriel posted
@Pavel we already knew that
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ how far are you?=)
screenshot please=)
$interval(function massiveGains() {
  for(var i = 0; i < 2; i++) {
    increaseUnits();
  }
}, 27000);

function increaseUnits() {

  for(var i = 0; i < 8; i++) {
    units += 5;
  }

}
There's me
With no hacks because I can't :)
I am so downloading that
23:21
> Congratulations! You achieved "Upgradus Maximus."
you know you can also type increaseUnits(2e34) into your console right
23:24
.... by typing it into your console?
like your browser one
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Try it online!
f12
That seems a little bit too cheaty tho
I want to see the number going up in real time
more cheaty than using an application to click for you?
@flawr nice!
I'm ready
nice, mine hit NaN
23:26
I get all tingly inside as the upgrades get revealed
.... it doens't detect me as chaeting lol
I am not cheating
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Go to the Production Breakdown tab
already did
it didn't
it does when I setinterval(increaseUnits(10000e100000000000000), 1) though
23:28
As you can see, the circle is incomplete and thus doesn't count as cheating
I just unlocked syntax highliting
It just made the code go away entirely
I just unlocked everything
:(
23:28
@Pavel yeah, for me too?
I htink it's a bug with chrome
Ha, it just said plus 5k money... IM RICH
I also have a relatively low production rate for being maxed out
> app.js:75 prisoners
app.js:51 hodor

wat
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ please...
23:32
?
what?
@flawr is there something wrong with using "wat"? I'm fine with that, didn't mean to offend anyone
I recently got suspended for it.
@El'endiaStarman is going to kill you
oh my god what now
oh hai @ArtOfCode
23:34
@ArtOfCode all I did was say "wat" ok not my fault
moderator diamonds from orbit ahahahahah!
anyways...
the transcript says before I joined, people were spamming "wat"
I didn't know that
@wat, just letting you know your username is banned here now.
Sorry.
so when I said it once, apparently somebody flagged it (I assume)
Did I miss the blue party?
23:35
@PythonMaster he's not going to get mad about me saying it once, if you and pavel were spamming it then yeah it's going to get flagged
@Doorknob no pls i is innocent
@Doorknob a whole two of us, yep
@PythonMaster this is the message that was flagged, which is why I'm confused
Three, if you count me.
And once again, TNB is the trouble room where petty things cause drama.
@ArtOfCode hahahaha
Anonymous
They're blue, da ba dee da ba die
23:36
@Dennis four, we forgot me and @ArtOfCode
me, @ArtOfCode, @Dennis, and @Doorknob.
four-mod HAIL STORM
the only difference is I brought a hammer :P

Diamonds in the sky?
GUYS THEY HAVE HAMMERS RUN
And starman is off somewhere, missing the fun.
@Mego with Lucy, yes

Terrible movie
@Pavel "Missing"
Posting messages that take up half the screen is hardly necessary, especially when they contain no information of value.
4
Wow, @Pavel, you're terrible at not posting noise, huh?
imgur.com/3w91Nbh That's only like 2/5ths of the screen
23:44
I think you are missing the point.
@Pavel for some of you
not for me
I'd delete it, but it's not letting me
The option isn't in the dropdown menu
Thanks

Q: Sum the First n Even Fibonacci Numbers

dfernanThere seems not to be a contest for this one yet. The task is simple. Add the first n even numbers of the Fibonacci sequence and print out the result. This is code golf. Lowest byte count wins. Examples n sum 1 0 2 2 3 10 4 44 5 188 6 798 7 3382 8 14328 9 60696 Related

@Qwerp-Derp do you have a basic implementation of CMQ yet? I just found a use for that example problem you had ^
Anonymous
@Pavel At this point I'm not sure if you're capable of making meaningful contributions to chat. Maybe that should be your New Years resolution - learn to not clutter the chat with nonsense.
23:49
57 mins ago, by Pavel
I should probably make an effort to stop getting kicked by El'endia. I'll make it my New Year's resolution.
that's just pretty rude >_>
I didn't get kicked, so technically I'm still fine
Anonymous
That could be arranged
Sure could.
Pls no >.<
23:50
or even worse....
you could get slapped... with a trout... by doorknob
Anonymous
Warnings are meant to mean "hey stop this before action has to be taken", not "you're fine"
can we drop it now, I think he gets it
Anonymous
I'm sure the mods and room owners would happily start kicking you without giving you warnings first if that's how you're going to interpret warnings
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ That remains to be seen.
okay
@flawr just out of curiousity, is there any way to directly modify that to follow the path?
23:53
Esolangs question: which makes more sense for a stack-based language: z = pop, Z = peek or z = peek, Z = pop
Which one will you be using more often?
@DJMcMayhem I personally would go with the former since popping is more common than peeking, I think.
@Pavel probably pop
Well, the more common one should be lower case
'cause one less keystroke
wat
wat
23:55
wat my username is banned here now?
Wtf
it was a bad joke
We were spamming 'wat' earlier, and I got suspended
Don't worry about it
In any case, using 'wat' to replace 'what' is overused and is becoming annoying to a significant number of users, I think.
@Pavel I'd say you got suspended because you didn't learn your lesson from the kick.
