@KazWolfe as far as I know about physics, G is meant to be ~constant on Earth right?

@Adnan no

@muddyfish yes but we are on the internet not on earth

@muddyfish yeah at -9.8m/s^2

tho there is chedr gaot ches

@KazWolfe depends how you set the axis. In my class we had G being 9.8 and downwards being positive
which seriously confused me btw

10:01 PM
@Downgoat

@Downgoat I once tasted goats' cheese with honey, it was nice

@Adnan WHAT DID YOU DO TO THOSE POOR GAOTS?

they dieded

6 upvotes, 3 downvotes and 0 comments on my meta answer. This pisses me off because we will literally never get anywhere on this if people don't respnd to things

Dammit the starboard is crazy

10:03 PM
It really feels like no one actually wants the situation to change and just have popcons sit in the gray area for all eternity

@TuxCopter you could blame me, but it's just easier to blame Downgoat.

@quartata what's wrong with having a grey area?

Only a few people are speaking on either side we need the whole community to be invested

That will take some time though

10:05 PM
I like the language showcase and think it should be on-topic

So... When are you guys getting a site design?

@muddyfish Because we get into fights on literally every popcon and we need to hammer out a compromise?

my contribution ^^^
@KazWolfe november 1st

it's a trap

(yes I read that bit about wizzwizz)

10:06 PM
@muddyfish ಠ_ಠ

I'm pretty sure I was the one who told wizzwizz anyway

@arda heyyy my name is Arda too

This room is simply crazy

Hey, Zalgo is here, where's disapproval face

ಠ_ಠ
^ here

10:08 PM
is zalgo a bot?

@betseg Selam Arda :)

@Zalgo thats 1 day of suspension right?

@muddyfish ಠಠ

@DJMcMayhem Looks like @quartata basically answered all of your questions (which I appreciate). Regarding parsing the transcript, I only used Django for its easy-to-use database management tool, but it's unnecessary for that purpose. I used a different Python library for running queries.

@KazWolfe ಠ_ಠ no
I am the master of the hell

10:09 PM
Also the name "Arda" is only popular in turkey afaik, hence I assumed you are turkish. Sorry if you aren't.

(we have a rule where if you do any face, you get suspended (in days) for however many _'s it has)

He is

okay. @Zalgo //"This statement is false"-->mem//eval mem//run

@KazWolfe don't think about it

@arda I am...damn evil penguin ninja'd me

10:10 PM
This statement is True?

y u xss me ;_;

@betseg penguins are all evil hides ubuntu

@muddyfish I summon quantum mechanics

@Zalgo H̥ͦ̄ͤͩ͟e̵̗͗ͭͮͥ̏̓ ̜̗̪̙c̩͔̩͂̾̅̾o̡̼͔͍͌͑ͯ͊ͅm̝͙̻̻̘̯ͅĕ̉ͬ͆s̼̝͆̓

hides under the arch

10:12 PM
@muddyfish Meh

@Zalgo //setuid 0//shell "rm -rf --no-preserve-root /"//run

@KazWolfe Syntax error

@Zalgo Do you have that as a macro?

@muddyfish no
I don't need a macro

@Zalgo why not?

10:13 PM
kicked

This is either a very dumb bot or a very bored human.

Whatever, good night folks!

night
@KazWolfe Or the sock of a very bored human

@TuxCopter Yes indeed.

Same, good night

10:13 PM
@TuxCopter indeed
@betseg Good night

@betseg g'night

@El'endiaStarman Quite. *looks fancy*

@KazWolfe It's Tux's sock.

we're allowed socks?
brb making 8000

Anyway, zalgo is unwelcome here.

10:15 PM
Is anyone in here good at perl?

it was originally a helper chat bot, ended up in a secondary account where I sometimes make jokes and run a very stupid ANN

And I don't mean the chat users.

What does ($n, $s) = @_; do? I would google, but google doesn't handle symbols like that very well

@DJMcMayhem majik
AFAIK it put the length of the array - 1 in the second and the first element in the first

> good at perl
Lol

10:16 PM
oh god np

What array? FWIW, it's in a subroutine

@TuxCopter Yeah, speaking of which, I'm starting to get aggravated by how you use your sock so often, especially because you basically never do so constructively.

@DJMcMayhem Arguments AFAIK

I forgot that I forgot to fix the time on my watch and well, it seems that it's not 12... its 1am. Dammit.

@El'endiaStarman k, sorry

10:17 PM
@TuxCopter So like $n, $s = arg1, arg2;?

@arda We're stuck at UTC+3 forever.

Or $n, $s = arg1, length(args) - 1 if there is more than 2 arguments
I am not good at perl
And I am too lazy to fire up a terminal

@betseg that's a nice thing, but they announced a few months ago. Do they not know tons of software doesn't get updated regularly?

AFAIK quartata is a perl-speaker
So he can help you

@arda UTC+2:30 would've been nicer IMO.

10:21 PM
@El'endiaStarman CMC: Can you find a bound on the number of positive roots of a real polynomial, just by looking at the signs of it's coefficients? (I bet you can :) I actually found a theorem recently about this, but unfortunately I forgot it's name.

In France, summer is UTC+2 and winter is UTC+1 AFAIK

@flawr Hmm, I shall ponder this.

GMT*

@TuxCopter It was the same thing +1 in Turkey, the latitude that determined UTC+2 is (kinda) on Istanbul (biggest city, in western Turkey), but now we use UTC+3, which almost isn't in Turkey.

huh

10:25 PM

it's still dark until around 7am which feels weird.

huh v2

My pebble says sunrise is on 7:17am tomorrow

In Europe, DST and non-DST are two different timezones.
Sep 29 at 1:58, by mınxomaτ
Jul 28 at 18:25, by mınxomaτ
> As of 2011, all member states of the European Union observe summer time; those that use CET during the winter use Central European Summer Time (CEST) (or: UTC+02:00, daylight saving time) in summer (from last Sunday of March to last Sunday of October). The exceptions to this are only to Algeria and Tunisia, which use Central European Time all year round.

ik

10:27 PM
Huh, I didn't knew about all those CES?T

We used EET and EEST, but we use only FET now

That's a lot of timezone base

UTC+2:30 would've been really nice for Turkey IMO

UTC+2:18 would be even nicer.

UTC+4:20

10:30 PM
UTC+8 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I found a time capsule under my bathroom floor today (construction on the bathroom).

:O

UTC+14:00 (yup that's a real thing)

We should just all switch to UTC. Who says 08:00 has to be "in the morning". A single degree is already a huge timeshift, so timezones are inaccurate anyway.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ What was in it?

10:31 PM
It has a small penknife, a hunting knife, and a kukri, all from a while ago.

Drop DST in the process, too.

this is epic
i'll try to get pictures of the hunting knife, the kukri we left in the box it was in

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ woow, cool=) any note?

Now you should make one yourself and hide it there=)

10:32 PM
ik it's from like 1940 though, this house was built then and we're only the second owner
@flawr lol thought of that, parents said nope

Woow, that's really cool=)

@betseg I never account for UTC+X:30 timezones in my timezone codes, lol.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ they don't have to know=)

TBF, we probably couldn't top the "rare knife from nepal" thing
@flawr lol

I need to sleep now cya guys

10:35 PM
You know what, write a few pages of illegible gibberish but with mathematical symbols here and there, and as a title write "secret proof of riemann the hypothesis"
Or something along the lines there of.

herro
me name oiler v

comon stop that please.

@Oliver you've posted like 5 of that, some of which have been moved to trash, Please stop doing that.

@TuxCopter haha=)
There is also a math version of this=)

10:39 PM
> time since 1986 (# nodes)
> hit ratio (teraflops)

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I have a rare knife from Nepal

it have some serious unit issues

@DJMcMayhem Arguments to subroutines in Perl are stored in the magic array @_. What you're seeing is the equivalent of tuple unpacking in Python.

@flawr wut
There is some very hard math and a lot of greek letters the penguin don't understand

For one argument people often do my $arg = pop; which implicitly refers to @_

10:41 PM
@Downgoat hm, can I see the wip python integration?

WIP means i am still trying to figure out how to approach :P

Wait, Python integration for Cheddar?
interlanguage abuse 11

There's also the very powerful AST

@TuxCopter I could but idk python halp pls

How do you want to interface two scripting languages srs
cheddar> Int
Runtime Error: Attempted to access undefined variable `Int`
cheddar> Integer
Runtime Error: Attempted to access undefined variable `Integer`
cheddar> ಠ_ಠer
Syntax Error: Unexpected token at 1:0
1 | ಠ_ಠer
  | ^
@Downgoat halp

10:44 PM
create python script as a helper which seres as an interface

Not to advertise or anything but Pytek will have seamless (and fast) integration with C Python (except for a little hiccup with strings) and JS

we can interface using that

compile to emscripten?

^
we can also emscripten python

That's way too many weird things the penguin is confuse

10:44 PM
or at least try
@TuxCopter basically a python helper script will be spawned and whenever someone wants to do something, we simply send that to the script and it returns result
no idea what data needs to be sent for python tho
or how to reflect in python

@Downgoat Make a Python hook, JS prototypes and Python objects aren't all that different

Idea: A socket Cheddar interface

emscriptening python won't work. If node has an FFI your best bet is linking to libpython and embedding the interpreter is hard
A python bridge and socket will be incredibly slow and clunky as well as not portable

The Python script send a code to the Cheddar server, the code is evaluated and the result sended back to the Python script
@quartata Well, I don't see how to do otherwise without some weird hacks

@quartata that is true but idk how else to do

10:47 PM
Or recreating Cheddar in Python

@TuxCopter O_O

Like I said link to libpython

@Downgoat ?
If you don't open the port of the Cheddar server, it's impossible to execute arbitrary code from the interweb

You were just joking right

@quartata there is node FFI thing

10:49 PM
@quartata ...
no

That isn't how the internet works. And it would basically be the same as doing it locally with a socket but even slower. Like probably a second for one call
And the server would probably go down and piss everyone off

@DJMcMayhem nice!
pics?

I don't see how to bridge Python and Node

10:51 PM
Link to libpython. It's what it is for. It isn't easy is all

@flawr here's the hunting knife ^^^, ^^^^

@TuxCopter A good rule of thumb is that if there's a library on npm that uses GYP. It's not supported anymore and doesn't work

GYP?

GYP is a pain since node keeps changing their lib every release

Oh :/
Then I guess we have to mess with the FFI and libpython
@Downgoat Well, node-ffi use GYP :P

10:53 PM
You know you should finish your STDLIB and fix all the bugs first

@undergroundmonorail I think control signal amplifier lines scores got reset :P

I think this should probably be seperate repo

Yep

@TuxCopter last commit was yesterday so we're good :D

Oh no not another repo

10:53 PM
@quartata pls find bug i fixed all

@quartata python integration is vrey important

^
I can get like 50% of people in TNB using cheddar this way

@TuxCopter More important than having a STDLIB?

Yes
Python integration >> *
Because if you have Python integration you have Python STDLIB

@Downgoat ...why bother to rush and make something that sucks just to get 15 people to use it

10:55 PM
> that sucks
ಠ_ಠಠ_ಠಠ_ಠ

because 15 more people is a total of 15 people using cheddar

@TuxCopter do you want to help make python interface? (i.e. should i add you as collab?)

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ sure, give me a minute

I don't know all this FFI stuff but by RTFMing I think I can help

Accpted

:D

@Downgoat Or you could spend another year making something really good and get 500 people using it. There's a reason why we're playing the long game

@PhiNotPi The characterization that the function should be a polynomial that maps (0,1) to itself seems very neat already. The problem, as I see it, is to determine the coin-flipping degree of any such function; or to find the maximum coin-flipping degree over all complying polynomials of a given degree

That and we're slow. But.

10:58 PM
@quartata this is part of that
either way it's not like cheddar's gonna be like next big lang or anything. I'm just doing this as fun project

But you have tons of loose ends that you haven't resolved.

One year later: Everyone use Cheddar and a lot of libraries are made

@Downgoat I can help

ok, where to start

@quartata Also isn't this what VSL is supposed to be? Just Cheddar but better?
