I think comparative reviews can still find a place here, when they are well-structured/thought, the usual "what makes a good CR question" criteria. :D
I mean, what we definitely want to avoid are the low-quality "feed me" questions, similar to what @nhgrif described as "here's two piece of code that do the same, review both."
and i think, if "questions asking to explain why code works" can be reworded to target clearly the low quality questions, that will be possibly better...
we just have to exercise our usual discretion just like for single reviews...
"Questions seeking only to explain why code works or fails are off-topic because programmers are expected to be able to at least explain the code to the reviewers"
