While playing a character with a spellshield (Nocturne or Sivir) do you need to shield the bomb's placement or the bomb's explosion?

So I was considering buying Zyra, but I'm not the best and I would just like go know if you guys thought she is comp viable. Do you see her showing up in competitive play? If not big tourneys just higher level ranked play?
