FAE
8:05 PM
looks around suspiciously

So I saw Age of Ultron yesterday night.

FAE
What'd you think?

Pretty good.
Banner/Romanov was weird but didn't feel unnatural like romance usually does in action movies.
I think my sister put it best, it felt "rushed, but not forced".

FAE
Yeah, I agree

Hawkeye was awesome, I enjoy seeing the turnaround he made from the first Avengers.

FAE
8:07 PM
there was apparently 40 minutes cut or so
Yeah, I really liked the fact that we actually got to see his character in this one
he spent most of Avengers 1 being either under control or recovering from being under control

I remember after the first one, everyone was all "what's the point of Hawkeye?" and now everyone loves him.

FAE
haha, awesome

"The city is floating, we're fighting an army of robots, and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense."

FAE
I think if you look at Avengers 1 then Avengers 2, you can see the beginning of progression of Banner/Romanov
Haha yeah
I was disappointed with the whole Jeremy Renner/Chris Evans thing re: Black Widow, dunno if you heard about that

I think it would've been nice if they put stuff relating to that in the post-movie stuff in Winter Soldier and maybe Iron Man 3.
They went really heavy on the "Hawkeye's gonna die" hints.

FAE
8:11 PM
Yeah, I was really worried that was gonna happen too

The one thing I don't like about Joss Whedon is that he has this tendency to kill off characters just to show that "no one has Plot Armor".

Hawkeye won the movie

FAE
Well it actually wasn't his idea to kill Coulson in the first
and that didn't end up sticking anyway

Thor's mystical journey was confusing and weird (the process of it, not the vision he saw)
though how planting an idea on his head made him learn stuff is another matter

@FAE Which I'm wondering if it's going to happen with Quicksilver and then he's in Agents of SHIELD.

FAE
8:13 PM
There's more stuff related to that in the cuts I think

Probably not though.

FAE
@Yuuki Apparently Quicksilver's definitely dead

@Yuuki That show doesn't have the budget for his special effects. Plus, it would up the power level of the show too much

@FAE Yeah, I don't think they'd want to send people to "Tahiti" way too much.

FAE
@Yuuki Also I play Marvel Heroes 2015 (the MMO ARPG thing) and damn am I glad I saw the movie early because people were spoiling it left and right this week

8:14 PM
@FAE What jerks.

I liked Ultron's dialogue but he just wasn't all that menacing. I was expecting him to be a more worthy foe.

FAE
@Sterno I think that was the point though, you know? He was like a child who knew too much.
He had all this information about the terrible things that humanity's done but lacked the experience and maturity to process it and understand it properly

I also think the movie should be renamed to Weekend of Ultron other than Age of Ultron, but you know

FAE
haha

James Spader really delivered though

8:16 PM
Ultron is a bit strange. What makes him terrifying isn't that he's a clinical, logic-driven robot. Because he's not. He's a straightforward sociopath.

FAE
I think James Spader did a fantastic job
Yeah

Just as strongly influenced by emotions as any human, which is interesting to see in a robot.

FAE
Spader brought a humanity to him that I don't know anyone else could

And terrifying.

FAE
apparently he was written with Spader in mind to voice

8:17 PM
I wonder if it was in the cut material, but it also felt weird Stark kept saying (at least twice, maybe more) "Yeah, but really, Ultron never should have been able to become alive, we weren't that far yet" but the movie never really addressed that
Unless that just boils down to "infinity gem magic, yo"

FAE
probably

So, new Avengers team is now Captain America, Black Widow, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, and The Vision?

FAE
Yeah, this was the last movie that this particular team would be together

I dunno, I'm pretty sure they'll be coming back in Infinity War, Part 2 at least.
Iron Man, Hulk, and Hawkeye, that is.
Maybe the new team gets the s--- beaten out of them in Part 1 to establish suspense.

FAE
Probably back, but not as "The Avengers" I think

8:20 PM
And then big superhero team-up in Part 2.
I wonder if Scarlet Witch and The Vision are going to have a romance like they did in the comics? I mean, I guess they were maybe kinda hinting at it.

I hope they don't waste a movie's short screen time on that
Unless it's in its own movie

FAE
I don't know much about the comic canon

Ugh, I still don't like Benedict Cumberbatch for Doctor Strange.

FAE
I've only ever seen him as Smaug in The Hobbit, so not really "seen" then

So, I'm not sure what happened. The Vision's made with vibranium, not Ultron's last body?

FAE
8:26 PM
I think he's like a combination of biological matter and vibranium

Something that bothered me a bit was that Ultron's soldiers were getting taken down pretty easy at the end, by things like bullets or a jabbed arrow

Ultron's last body (Ultron Prime?) looks like it's made of vibranium, but it gets destroyed pretty easily...

@Yuuki I don't think it had vibranium

@Sterno I think it might've been cut because when it first appears, it looks like vibranium.

Maybe, but then he should have been a lot tougher, or else vibranium just doesn't seem that great anymore

FAE
8:30 PM
If we want to get super technical, it shouldn't even bounce, but Cap's shield does...

That's because Cap is 'MURICA.

Trying to decide if the best line of the movie was "No it wasn't" in response to "Good talk"
2

FAE
haha
I think it did a decent job with pacing

Oh, one of the chips that Stark was considering as a JARVIS-replacement read "TADASHI".

FAE
It hit the ground running, but even when the slower paced stuff hit after that it didn't feel like it was boring or that the movie was the length that it was, at least for me

8:35 PM

You have no idea how much I was hoping that would involve Rebecca Black

Well, the visible part reads "DASHI", but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to say "TADASHI".

I saw the post-credits scene with Thanos and the glove. Then I left. Did I miss any others?

@Sterno I don't think so. I didn't stay either because @FAE said nothing story-important happened afterwards.

FAE
@Sterno No, the only other thing was at the very, very end it said "The Avengers will return"

8:38 PM
@FAE I don't even know why they had to add that.

FAE
@Yuuki I dunno, maybe there are people out there who don't follow the movie news excessively and somehow, maybe, don't know there will be a third? I honestly have no idea.

Yeah, but anybody's who willing to stay to see that line will have seen the two scenes that build up Thanos.

FAE
Yeah, that's true.

I kinda wish they would put more side plot stuff in the mid-credits scenes so they have more "time" to work with. Like they could've had Natasha ask Bruce out on a date (because I don't think it'd be the other way around) for Winter Soldier's mid-credits scene.
Then it wouldn't feel as rushed as it did.

FAE
She was flirting with Cap a lot in WS though
so it may have been jarring to the audience

FAE
9:15 PM
Are either of you gonna see it again?

9:55 PM
Not sure.
