@T.E.D. This seems like a good EL&U question, perhaps it would make sense to migrate it?

Q: Looking for an obscure myth where Zeus kills one of Apollo's male lovers

rumtschoI remember reading a myth as a child, but have not been able finding it again ever since. It starts like a typical Apollo myth: Apollo has a young best friend/lover, and they are inseparable. Then the young man's sixteenth birthday approaches (or was it some other day symbolizing the coming of ...

A word of caution: Researching this question on Google may turn up some links that you wouldn't want on your browsing history. Apparently, Apollo's tendencies towards young lovers is used to justify pederasty in a vast number of questionable sites.

Q: I'm new and interested in Mythology: What are good myths for "beginners" to read?

ChristofianI'm new to mythology (and to Mythology.SE), and I'm interested in learning about mythology. However, I’ve only read children’s versions of myths, or summaries of myths online. I would love to start reading original translations of myths, but I'm intimidated by their length and complexity. What a...

Wouldn't that be opinion based?

it appears to be an attempt at a community-maintained list of canonical reading recommendations, which I suppose could work
I have a hard time seeing people actually using it though

It IS a great idea
@Ixrec yeah :/
but once mods are up, they can just tag it as

@EroSɘnnin ?

should we use for questions no one's actually asked?

5:13 PM
True.

and would be enough, I guess
Has anyone thought about putting up a Community Ad on Arqade.SE? (or is it already done?)

good idea; I haven't heard of one

I thought of it today morning

the last thing I heard was the SciFi chat making fun of our ad ("meet the real imaginary Thor?")

n00bs they have good sense of humor
we did get two questions on so I'm guessing that would make a good ad topic

5:25 PM
any idea how popular that actually is?
oddly enough I played it once, but it doesn't feel like a super-famous everone's-heard-of-it brand name the way Marvel's Thor is

Hmm .. well, I did think of

ah, that could work

Yeah :)

might not help with our greek bias, but the goal is traffic

Don't know which character to choose though

5:29 PM
more oddly, I have never played any of the god of war games
you could try asking in their chat, I'm sure some of them have

Hmm, okay.
The mc is made up while the other characters are real myths

5:50 PM
@Yannis Hmm. You're probably right. There, or our meta. I've had issues in the past with a lot of the "etiquette"-style questions on ELU though. Either I have the social skills of a wild bear (possible I suppose), or the posters and voters there aren't nearly as up on the nuances of that topic as they think they are.

@T.E.D. politics tends to redefine a lot of things for its own convenience...
as soon as a word gains any sort of non-neutral political connotation, the only winning move is not to use it

@EroSɘnnin - For God of War, probably focus on Zeus, the main antagonist in the second and third games. Ares was the antagonist of the first, but that was a while ago.
Other rich ground in games, Final Fantasy series takes a lot of mythological characters.

@femtoRgon Yeah Zeus was primary antagonist but his bros also were involved
Also I have a hard time coming up with captions :P

Yeah, was thinking about that. Got nothing, yet.

Its super late here and I better go sleep
If you get cool ideas do tell :D
Good night :)

Will do. Take care.
