@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M You are a disgrace to me. I'm deleting my account. At least do me a favor and don't interfere when others are talking.
user116848
@snailboat I'm deleting my account. I hope you find all the happiness here now.
04:15
@Arrowfar Ohh mn... why did you go upset? what has happened?

6 hours later…

@santiago Did you just star anything?
nope
just reading
Okay. Sorry about that. I don't know who starred that.
no apology needed :)
Um, okay! I just think that starring that one wouldn't make anything better and it could get things even worse.
not my star at all - but anyway
by the way:
10:00
No worries! I got you!
is highly inappropriate
@santiago I know it is.
Oh, that one. We have put up with lots of things already.
so I see - yes, quite the drama
if he wishes to leave, that is 100% up to him
anyway - let's not give the issue any attention - how is everyone?
Coincidentally, something happened in my hometown last night. I hope the we'll get through it okay soon.
10:07
Cleaned up, as far as I can clean up. Whole load of stars cancelled.
@DamkerngT. I hope you do
Yes, I have been following the attack in Bangkok! Keep strong!
Thanks!
Thanks, guys!
The Thai people are strong, you'll overcome this
Thank you! I didn't see it coming, really. I think nobody over here did.
so one could have seen that coming!
10:12
I was thinking about moving some money out of the stock market last month, but didn't. Now I've got a dent in my account.
But that's nothing compared to the victims and their families.

Sometimes, reading ELL questions helps...

Q: Most of the dishes ( in / of / at ) the student cafeteria are not good

jihoon Most of the dishes ( in / of / at ) the student cafeteria are not good. Here, I feel at and in is more suitable when there's a verb. So I think of is the most suitable here. which one is the best here?

Huh? -1? both on the question and the answer?
11:14
Hi @MattE.Эллен!
will be right back in a couple of minutes.
oh hai!
sorry, I'm just being nosey
I guess that you must've heard about it from the mods room.
well, from the EL&U room :D
@MattE.Эллен It's okay, a lot of people were here yesterday. :-)

@DamkerngT. Any phrase containing 'surround'? — leo adams 9 hours ago
Can anyone think of anything? (I can't think of any.)
@DamkerngT. This is perfect, I live on Open Source SE
The correct term is derivative
You can also have fork, which is intended to be the same product with changes, rather than a different product.
There is no phrase I know of containing "surround".
@ArtOfCode What about something with 'surround' like the OP's suggestion?
nods
#inb4u
@DamkerngT. I love surround sound
@MattE.Эллен Hehe!
13:16
Chuck that lot ^ in an answer, since I can't be bothered to create an account here just for one answer.
Quick lads, surround him!
@MattE.Эллен :-)
@ArtOfCode Okay. Will do that in 5-10 minutes.
Oh, BTW, thanks!
@DamkerngT. I don't understand this comment in context. what does surround have to do with the concept at hand?
@MattE.Эллен I'm not sure. My guess is the OP may base his 'surround' on the term used in his first language.
I see.
That would make sense

@Arrowfar Unfortunately, as you're causing troubles, and BIG amounts of them, destroying @Dam and @Snail's reputation over the network, insulting us because we have insulted you in a twisted version of reality, and still see yourself as the victim, I have nothing more to say other than showing you the door.

Sigh I need to take a break from chat just as @snail sometimes does.
I just got suspended (yes @Arrowfar, you defeated the enemy. Congrats) from chat for getting flagged. Until he's gone, I'll be gone too. I never asked for this.
It's my fault I tried to help him.
in The Frying Pan, 2 mins ago, by inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M
Life is too short for sobbing over spilled milk.
Bye @Dam @Snail @Jim for some days. I'll keep hanging in my Periodic Table. But not ELL. It's become too sour for me. They made it too sour for me.

3 hours later…
22:06
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M I'm really sorry to hear that.
@Loong @GraceNote Was @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M got suspended from chat because of the flagging automatic? Pr was it a decision made by consensus?
@DamkerngT. The message caught 4 flags.
In here or somewhere else?
(I'm still confused and don't know what actually happened.)
In Language Overflow. It must have been a message from the transcript.
Hmm... Language Overflow is supposed to be a conflict-free and opinions should be kept as objective as possible. I think @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M knew this and wouldn't write anything flagging worthy there.
I can't see any messages moved to trash either.
22:21
Though it could be read as offensive, I believe he didn't mean it as offensive. -- sigh
@DamkerngT. When messages are flagged later (from the transcript), they may be read out of context and thus misunderstood.
@DamkerngT. There were flags on various messages. All dismissed, except this one.
Like a mod wondering what he or she would do if this or that happened, he thought aloud what he, as a room owner, should do if something not nice happened.
@Loong I see.
@Loong I removed some ill-intention flags once in a room which is now frozen. Flagging, as a feature, is not perfect, IMHO.
yesterday, by Damkerng T.
I know how easy it is to click to delete a flagged message based on insufficient information.
Is he still a room owner of this room?
@DamkerngT. That is a well-known problem of flags.
@DamkerngT. Yes.
@DamkerngT. Three of your messages were flagged, too. (dismissed, of course)
22:29
@Loong Oh, I didn't have a clue.
@DamkerngT. So, the flagger tried a few messages, with one success.
@Loong I think they had tried a ton in the last 48 hours.
I feel as if we were harassed or something.
@DamkerngT. And taken out of context, a single message may look bad.
@Loong nods -- This is not the first time something like this has happened, anyway.
What have chat rooms become?
Jun 13 at 17:27, by Damkerng T.
I'm not really angry. I just don't want to be too careful to say anything here, worrying that someone will read my message the wrong way.
@Loong Is there anything negative potentially happens to the flagger if a flagger keeps flagging messages unreasonably or demeaningly? Will mods always keep an eye on this? Or does someone have to file a complain or something to SE?
22:48
@DamkerngT. Well, moderators do not like such flag abuse, and they watch such occurences. However, I cannot discuss the tools, abilities, and consequences. If you want to draw such things to the attention of the moderators, you may try "flag for moderator" (not flag as spam/offensive).
nods -- Understood. Thank you.
no problem
23:02
Ahh... okay, I've finished reading the transcript at The Frying Pan.
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M Thank you for standing up for snail and me, and trying to make things right. And sorry that you'd gotten flags and got suspended.
There are many things I sometimes wanted to say, but remember what they say we should do when we are mistreated? "Don’t write out a long explanation of why you are right." It doesn't really help anything. People already believe you believe you. People who don't usually don't; they may change their minds after spending time reading and assessing what really happened, but it's a rather tall request.
Also, in my personal belief, which is related to Buddhism, we shouldn't do or say anything that hurts others unless we have a right reason (such as being asked in an investigation).
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M If you feel like you need to take a break from ELL. Please do. I hope you will be back again, full with energy, as you always do, soon!
