@snailboat Exactly my thought!
I wish many of them were at least hedged better, or maybe weren't posted at all.
I wonder how many of my comments are misleading. Like, I think my comment is applied to the question because I think of one specific thing, but the reader may think of another thing and the get the wrong implication from my comment.
I hope it's not very often.
Not to mention that I can be blatantly wrong, sometimes.

Q: Let's rewrite the "Proofreading" close reason

CatijaIt's been discussed that the proofreading close reason is overused: Stop throwing "Proofreading" close reason at questions that are clearly limited to a single point of concern As part of my answer, I recommended that we consider rephrasing the "Proofreading" close reason so that it's less like...

How can we rephrase the Proofreading close reason to avoid this ambiguity and reduce the likelihood that the proofreading close reason will be used on questions that are not proofreading. -- I wish I knew the answer!
@DamkerngT. Me too!
In any case, the proofreading close reason could use something clearer to everyone.
IMHO, "a specific source of concern in the text is clearly identified" is already a bit too difficult to some of our learners.
@DamkerngT. Good point! You should make that as a comment. Particularly as it comes from a learner!
I wish there were questions about simple or plain English. I could get some rep answering questions tagged with . :P
@Catija Got it!
Nice :D

Q: all loud colors and improbable cuts -- what does "cuts" mean in this context?

Cookie MonsterExample (Putin Would Eat President Trump for Lunch): One is Yevgeny Chichvarkin, co-founder of the Yevroset chain of mobile phone shops. Like Trump, he is flamboyant and outspoken. Trump sold a line of rather tasteless clothes under his name until Macy's discontinued it earlier this month. Ch...

Q: I'm having trouble describing a series of events

jihoonI'm having trouble describing a series of events. I think speaking naturally is important but I don't think speaking diversely is not important. So I've made as much sentences as possible. I think #1 is the most natural one. but I'd like to know if I can use the other ones without changing meanin...

I don't know if we should do anything with the question or it's the best to leave it lying around.

Q: Outdoors / Outside

jihoonI'm comfortable using "outside" as a preposition. but the other day I got a chance to know the use of "outside" as an adverb. And I get "outside" mixed up with "outdoors". And my personal opinion is that the meanings of them are the same. I spend most of my time outside. I spend most of ...

I tend to agree with akedrou, but I don't think that Damien H was wrong. I wanted to upvote one of the answers, but I can't decide so I leave both answers alone.
@DamkerngT. Damien is quite correct. If I'm "outside a room" I'm still likely inside the building.
Yes, but in this context, I think both practically mean the same. Am I correct?
(I'd use outdoors myself too, btw.)
@DamkerngT. In that exact context, yes. They mean the same. If "outside" was "outside this room", it would say that "I spend most of my time outside this room".

If this had a link, I'd call it spam... why would someone come to ELU to get editing help on someone else's work? The text makes them sound like they want to have someone agree with them about how poorly written it is.

Q: Are my criticisms of the way one ask question are valid

AhmadI criticized the way a member ask his question in addressing the answerers, he used to begin with everybody or as educated and native speaker, In my opinion not only they are not polite but they eliminate part of potential answerers. But on the other hand, I think he is too polite in the questio...

Q: I'd like to know more about how to describe a series of accidents in a chronological order

jihoonI'm having a hard time describing what I did on a day to others in a chronological order. 10:00 AM - I woke up 11:00 AM - I left home and headed for a coffee shop to study English. 11:10 AM - I was waiting for the bus to come to the station for about an hour. 12:10 PM - I arriv...

Also for anyone who wants to write an answer.
> In modern English, people is the de facto plural of person. People and person have separate Latin origins, and they came to English at different times by different paths, but there are examples of people used as a plural of person from as early as the 14th century.
> Persons was the original plural, and it is possible to find examples of its use in all types of writing up to the present, but it prevails only in a few contexts, most notably law and law enforcement, and in a few common phrases (e.g., persons of interest, displaced persons, missing persons). Elsewhere, it usually gives way to people.

I think that one day I'll go on a "bad title" question fix and make a bunch of titles more helpful.
user116848
Yeah good titles help a lot.
What's a constructive way to word a comment that says, essentially "your question title is crap, please rewrite it"?
Or should I say "I'm rewriting your title, you can edit if you think I got your point wrong but, in future, try to write titles that are unique."?
user116848
@Catija This one sounds nice.
