Hi @NathanTuggy! Have you been here before?
Anonymous
@HarryCBurn Yes, one of the main reasons to reject an edit suggestion is "clearly conflicts with the author's intent"
@HarryCBurn Where is this?
@HarryCBurn A few times. Not really a regular; chat doesn't entirely fit me somehow?
@HarryCBurn you are apparently unaware of one of the main "features" of SE, as stated on its welcome tour: "Our goal is to have the best answers to every question, so if you see questions or answers that can be improved, you can edit them." Subtext: "Use edits to fix mistakes, improve formatting, or clarify the meaning of a post." — User1 6 mins ago
@NathanTuggy Doesn't fit you? o: What do you mean?
@snailboat I'll add that, if you don't mind me using your point.
@HarryCBurn I dunno, something about the UX, can't put my finger on it. I don't really spend much time in IRC chatrooms either.
21:03
@NathanTuggy Sure, we love new people though :)
I like the UX here. It just seems to work.
I think I was a bit bewildered when I first joined.
@HarryCBurn Talking things out doesn't always work.
@DamkerngT. In general, or with User1?
I try to mean it generally.
^
Perhaps, but it's worth a shot if I can keep it civil.
So what's everyone up to?
@HarryCBurn I'm too tired to fight for any idealism at the moment. :-)
21:12
I'm pretty tired too. Had a pretty intense day at airsoft.
@HarryCBurn Oh! I've never played it!
Thanks for mentioning it!
Ah, wait. It's not what I thought!
What did you think it was?
o:
There's another kind of sport where children or young people will run around throwing the ball at other players to make them out.
@DamkerngT. Dodgeball?
Dodgeball is a game in which players on two teams try to throw balls at each other while avoiding being hit themselves. In the United States, the game is typically played among children 6-12 in elementary school. However, internationally, the sport has also emerged as a popular middle school, high school and college sport. It is also popular in informal settings and is often played on a playground, or in organized recreational leagues. There are many variations of the game, but generally the main objective of each team is to eliminate all members of the opposing team by hitting them with thrown...
I think it's a kind of dodgeball.
Sometimes we use a ping-pong ball.

Ping pong . . . dodgeball? :-)
@DamkerngT. With paddles? Because ping pong balls are really light weight, so they don't fly very far... perhaps you mean squash balls?
Not sure about the name. :-)

I used to love table tennis when I was in school.
It was quite popular around here when I was young.

I should've played tennis tennis. :-)

(Contrastive focus reduplication!)
The rule is simple, we gather up, give the ball to someone, and we start running away from them. If the ball touches the ground, anyone can pick the ball and throws it at others. Anyone got hit before the ball touches the ground is out. This keeps going until there's only one player left.
Sorry for the delay. I had to restart my browser.
@snailboat Oh, tennis. Don't have me play tennis. You'll lose all your balls!
Anonymous
@DamkerngT. Haha!

I actually did like tennis when I was younger too, but I didn't get a chance to play it much. Actually, in retrospect I probably could've convinced people to play, but I didn't really try.
Somehow tennis seems to be an ideal sport for many young ladies. I'm not sure why.
Maybe because the uniform is cute?
:D
@DamkerngT. Gotta love boys in short shorts and too many balls in their pockets... ?
21:29
Could be! :P
Too bad that even though I wear short shorts when playing badminton, I've never kept shuttles in my pocket. ;-)
Oh, it's called birdie in AmE!
@DamkerngT. We call them shuttlecocks, too.
Ahh
Oh, I can remember now. The last time I played tennis (actually, tried to hit the ball), it was tiring, but not because of the game, it was because we spent so much energy picking up the balls. :D
(Before picking them up, we had to find them first, even!)
21:47
@DamkerngT. I think that's true for the (one) time I played.
That makes two of us!

1 hour later…

GRRRRR. Flagged something as obsolete after I changed an answer and it was declined... So now it looks like the image is still wrong. I don't know what to do.
Anonymous
When I have obsolete flags declined and I can't figure out why, I leave a comment pointing out that future readers can ignore the comment in question, explaining that it's obsolete.
Anonymous
To future readers: You can safely ignore TJY's comment above. It is obsolete and no longer makes sense with the current version of the question. (TJY left this comment and voted to close; the question was later fixed, and TJY and others voted to reopen.) — snailboat Sep 9 '14 at 21:34
@snailboat OK. If He declines it again, I'll do that.
Anonymous
If you're flagging a second time, maybe you can use a custom flag and write a message explaining why you believe it's obsolete
@snailboat That's what I did :D
Anonymous
23:06
I do think it's interesting that people can keep flagging the same things over and over.
Anonymous
On Japanese.SE, a user kept flagging one comment for a couple years.
I think it's funny when stuff ends up in Meta "Why was my flag declined?"
Anonymous
Not terribly often, but for a span of two years.
@snailboat Wow, that's batty.
@snailboat That's very persistent!
If there were a determinative award, they should be awarded one. :P
@Dam ELL is a wonder:

Q: python syntax error after adding # -*- coding: utf-8 -*-

Marco DinatsoliI am readying a cvs file, this is my code: import csv class CsvToJson: def __init__(self, csvFilePath): with open(csvFilePath, 'rb') as csvFile: spamreader = csv.reader(csvFile, delimiter= ‘;’, quotechar = '|') for row in spamreader: print ', ...

@snailboat That seems like a fun guy to hang out with.

So we have both people using answers as comments, and comments as answers!
^Huh? I typed 'So' as 'We'?!
