How is your mod election status?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Stupid election doesn't seem to like to finish.

Nearly there.
It'll finish at 6am, my time. So it'll be a different world I wake up to.
Actually, I may already be awake that morning, I'm donating blood.
Well, plasma.

A: In "Approval was given, and Ju's art displayed." how can the transitive verb 'display' be used without an object?

Brian HitchcockIt's a simple case of ellipsis. The "was" applies both to "given" and "displayed". So it is to be understood as "...was displayed". That is, as passive voice. The object is Ju's art. In active voice: (Somebody) gave approval, and (somebody) displayed Ju's art.

Hey @Dam, @Jim is about to expose sekrit mod features.

^Could be an interesting thread of exchanges to watch...

Q: Is this "to" the same as this to?

8906335678 But Stephen, who is not a scientist, had his family’s genomes sequenced and worked with geneticist Ryan Taft at the University of Queensland in Australia to identify a mutated gene. Taft linked the gene to a class of neurodegenerative disorders involving the myelin sheath, which protec...

I'll admit that I don't understand the title.

11:35 AM
@DamkerngT. The title basically says "Is this "to" the same as this to?"

@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M That's what it precisely says! But what does it mean?!

They forgot to put quotation marks around the second "to".

I don't know where the two tos in the question are.

@DamkerngT. Edited.

Q: Why is it "If I were you" and not "If I was you"?

DzyannFrom my research online the correct way is to say "If I were you" and not "If I was you" because this is the "subjunctive mood". However they don't say the underlying reason for it. They just say use "If I were you" when it is subjunctive. What if I wanted to say "If he was you", should I use "...
