Do some math I have deleted more posts written by other people, than I have written myself :(

@Hakase The answer did not answer the OP's question. The answer gave reasons not to use a parasol, but (a) this is not what the OP asked and (b) the reasons she gave were not cogent. It is OK to say "don't do X" to a Q that asks "How do I do X", but the reasons have to be strong and persuasive. I did not downvote; this is just my feeling as to why the downvoters did so.

If theoretically I were to say that we can't improve quality by being rude to people on meta, how much would I regret starting that?

@CharlieBrumbaugh I totally loved that answer and learned a lot! I also had already upvoted, as I do most of the time when there's a lot to learn, even if it's cut/paste.

I think it's a good idea, worded correctly, because I'm all for anything that disapproves of rudeness. Do you think it could be worded in such a way that it could stand on its own without calling anyone rude?

If not, I think you're asking for trouble and would regret it! But that's just me, cuz I happen to be here at the moment. I'm curious to hear other people's opinions, as always.

Sees that's the part that I might regret, even if I don't name people the OP will know who they are and the there are probably less than <3 users doing it so

I'm not sure someone can make a point like that without sounding rude themselves. You risk hurting people's feelings, which in itself is rude.

It's probably better to ignore the people who are rude, as best as we can.

Sometimes rudeness is just in the moment.

We have far more nice people here than rude.

I also don't think that's the best use of meta, unless we had a huge bully problem. So that's my take on that!

BTW, how did you delete more posts than you've written? Including your answers and questions? It takes more than one person to delete a post, so how did that happen? I'm just curious.

Okay, that makes sense. But where are you finding them? New low quality? Old sitting around low quality? Combination?

I see you mention some in here that you want help with, like an old one today. Do you have a formula to go look for those?

I usually just find them when I read through, or I know how to find all of the posts with delete votes on them

I read someplace about the abandoned question thing. Mr. Community seems to do it based on a formula I forgot. But how do we downvote etc if they haven't been edited.

Or does the question already have to be at zero or minus.

@CharlieBrumbaugh, I'm thinking about writing a meta to ask what happens when the same post comes through in 3 queues, late answer, low quality and 1st post. I want to be a better reviewer but there are different options for those and it gets confusing..

I think one has the option to delete but the others don't. You probably choose the delete option more often than some other people, or at least sooner.

My real problem is when the choice is "Looks Okay" but it really doesn't yet because it needs something, like additional feedback, but you have to say it Looks Okay to get it out of the queue. Those are the ones I skip most often.

@Sue It also depends on what the score of the post is, some queues don't let you downvote

Ok. Usually a first post and a late answer new user first post both come into the queue but the options are different.

Unless the late answer new user post is also low quality.

Yup. And then I pop over and look at the context of the question and all that. So, about deleting, what do you do when the newer one looks just like an older post that wasn't deleted?

I also don't like to downvote something that looks exactly like an upvoted one. Then again, I don't downvote.

Didn't you once say you're responsible for a lot of deleted comments too? What's your general formula there? I know @RoryAlsop says just keep flagging!

So many comments have nothing to do with the point of a comment, so they set a bad example.

I used to run queries looking for them, and there are certain words that get them autodeleted, but I haven't done that in a while

How many comments does it take to trigger that message asking if you want to take it to chat?

I thought it was 15 but I've seen way more than that, which either means people ignore that message or it hasn't come up yet and a mod hasn't stepped in.

I know that cuz I know you, but it has a snarky tone, which sarcasm can tend to do. Then again, snark abounds in huge amounts on that site, no matter what management tries to accomplish. One last thing... There's a sentence on that post "I while back" which I'm sure you meant to be "A while back." I'm spoiled by my editing privileges on my two sites, but can't do it over there, so I'm just pointing it out. Okay, now I really do have to go. Thanks for hanging out and talking policy and stuff.

the new clarified be-nice policy should cover not being rude or using put-downs and other negative language

@sue if you want to voice your opinion, I don't think SE is a good place to post it, as you'll just get upset over the downvotes and grumpy reactions of the localers

just avoid the global meta if you can imo

sometimes it's good to take a long break off stackexchange to regain your sanity

we have smaller communities on these less traveled sites and the people in chat and meta are much friendlier

(at least that's my experience with anime)

@Hakase this. This is so true. I've done it myself.

Just read through the transcript about what you guys were discussing - @Sue and @CharlieBrumbaugh. My view - meta would be a bad option. Forget if you would come across as rude (possibly you won't to the majority), but as you mentioned, some would get offended. And would cause unwanted uproar.

Also, I just realized how different the talks are when @sue and @CharlieBrumbaugh interact as to when I and @Willeke interact. We mostly talk all unwanted stuff. You guys on the other hand talk all TGO specific stuff :D

@Sue, as far as I know it is 20 posts that trigger the 'move to a chatroom' but mods can move earlier or later, (if I remember right).

I think there is a second trigger when people post comment fast.

@Sue, when I moved the Whales Q, I did not change the tags but it is likely that the same tag is not available after the move.

@Ricketyship, it can also happen that two conversation are going on at the same time without them getting mixed.

@Ricketyship Everyone uses the chat differently - for ages it was just @RoryAlsop, @Liam, myself and a few others talking anything because it was barely used.
