I've moved on from the meta on outdoorsmanship to be honest. But to clarify, the shitstorm started because the OP mentioned about gender inclusiveness in a comment. I'm not sure if someone else brought it up before that comment was made by OP. Either way, the description can be changed. It's not such a big deal.

Morning @Ricketyship
Morning all :-)
@Rory @Aravona @Kevin @Ricketyship @imsodin @CharlieBrumbaugh @ab2 @sue and others: I received an email on my personal gmail account today, which states: **"Hi,

I just read your post on belaying glasses on outdoors.stackexchange.com.
I don't have any rep yet, so I can't post the following:

If you wanna save some money and are inclined towards handicraft work,
you can get a pair of cheap bed reading glasses with a prism on Amazon
(costs like $10). The prism is mounted the wrong way, but you can cut it out,
I am wondering what should I reply the person with?
I responded with the following:
"Hey Simeon,

I appreciate your efforts to think of an answer (especially, in a DIY way), and conveying it with an email. Nobody could have bothered to do that.
While I can happily post your thought as a comment or an answer, I am afraid I can not (should not, in fact) post it on your behalf. Because, thats not the way The Great Outdoors works.

We wholeheartedly welcome you to join us, and try to earn minimum rep so that you can comment/answer there :)
I'll wait for your response there!"
06:15
Seems like a good way to respond @WedaPashi
But how is it possible to get hold of your email??
I am certain that he/she must have visited my TGO profile, and then to my blog on blogspot.in, which is linked with my gmail.
This: beingwedapashi.blogspot.in
06:31
ah okay. Although I'm not sure blogger provides a way to get your email even.
06:53
@Ricketyship: Indeed, I just spend about 20 minutes to look if I have ever dropped my email address on blogspot :( Nowhere!
I have a stalker! Should I be worried now? :D
07:45
Hi everyone
@WedaPashi I am not aware that you need rep to answer? That would kind of restrict your ability to earn rep quite significantly :P
08:25
@imsodin: Indeed. I just thought of it this way: What he/she wanted to post was more as a comment than an answer, and to put up a comment, he/she would need minimum rep (Is it 25, or 10?).
I think 1 rep is enough for answering.
We get a lot of spam answers from people with 1 rep.
@Ricketyship: Right
Respond back to Simeon saying he can post that as an answer and it doesn't require any reps. Unless, he's a suspended user ;)
@WedaPashi Didn't think about that - well anyway, weird, but nice person :P
08:42
Its a bit creepy given that he/she was able to pull out his personal email :D
The chat room over on security.SE has on occasion demonstrated just how simple and quick it is to do this. Realistically it can be done in minutes for almost everyone.
@RoryAlsop: What, pulling out someone's personal email?
08:58
Finding personal email starting with nothing more than a blog or similar
Or in one case just a user name on a particular site
For you it would have been easy
Googling your user name here finds it in less than a minute :-)
(just tested on my smartphone)
@Rory: Jeez, it does. I just tried that :D
There is a link: Contact Me: Email on the blogger profile. Thats one of the ways where I could get my email id with no issues :-)
Doesn't look like mine shows up though :D
WedaPashi is very uncommon, because it has no meaning :P So, you have only one WedaPashi :-)
nice try :P
@RoryAlsop I usually have a lot of patience, but I can't understand how making a personalized comment can't be perceived as rude by someone. Is it a cultural thing?
09:14
@Ricketyship: When did this happen?
@WedaPashi Long story man. Some dumpster fire (as Charlie calls it). There's one chat room where it's still going on.
@Ricketyship: Well, hats off to your and @Rory's patience to deal with this dumpster fire creator. Let there be peace!
09:29
My only gripe is that the user should've said its ok, lets make peace. Instead going after Rory or Charlie is bad. And most of the comments are deleted now. So it was a real pain initially when it started. The OP kept posting comment after comment on the question.
BTW, what does wedapashi mean?
YOU WENT BACK TO NOV'15 O_o
But that conversation with @Aravona XD
@WedaPashi Check this ;) translate.google.com/#sw/en/wedapashi
@Ricketyship: It was hilarious :D
I was so so goofy back then :D
@Ricketyship: Armmm, don't translate :D
@WedaPashi Yeah! Sounds so much fun though!
Three years back! You 28 now.
Three years back I was Aravona's age XD
@Rory might be able to tell you how much fun I, @Rory, @Aravona, @Liam, @Wills, @nhinkle and @M'vy had here, only based on some cultural differences, a lot of bears and my (clear lack of) knowledge of information security, beards, Pets: Fester and Blaze, Chimneys, etc :D
Endless fun stuff, that I miss these days :-)
10:00
ahaha that was the time i went into hibernation from the site
I remember Liam being a newbie then. He even asked a meta question on if the site was dying XD
but all his and Shem's questions were pure technical climbing questions. And I kinda drifted away.
But @WedaPashi, I wouldn't (haven't) addressed anyone as dear :P I don't know what Indian thing you taught all the people here :'D
@Ricketyship: I learnt more stuff here, than I taught :D
@WedaPashi I keep learning much more than I teach. On every site. It's what makes things so much fun
10:16
@WedaPashi Same here. I don't think i've taught anyone anything here :P
@RoryAlsop: True!

"They allow you to look straight ahead while belaying. It says so right there." – Lightness Races in Orbit 16 mins ago
This comment is so SO-like :D
12:24
Morning @Charlie @Kevin
13:23
good morning all
(or evening)
Morning @JonathanLandrum
13:48
@WedaPashi yeah, I'm inclined to mark comments like the one you quoted by Lightness Races as "rude" here. SO has a major problem with rude/unhelpful comments; i'd love for TGO to avoid that. :-(
@WedaPashi @JonathanLandrum I think its funny when you get comments like that on a self answer
@WedaPashi we've had the best chats ever :)
2
@Aravona: Indeed. Hows life?
@JonathanLandrum: I appreciate that you understand what I meant to say when I posted this comment in chat :-) Although, he/she came up with a nicer reply after my response the earlier comment, so all is well for now :-)
14:10
Hi all
@Aravona I couldn’t stop grinning looking at some of those old chats 😆
How’s the day @JonathanLandrum?
Did you buy the telescope yet?
14:36
@WedaPashi Doing alright chap, and yourself?
@Aravona: So far so good. Haven't been able to trek much for last 3-4 months, but thats okay :-) Hows the progress with the YouTube channel you were planning?
@WedaPashi, do you trek often?
@Ricketyship: Per year: Once in Himachal or Uttarakhand for about 3 weeks, and roughly about 20 weekends in Sahyadris.
But, since Feb 2018 I haven't trekked barring a couple of easy treks around Pune.
15:11
@Ricketyship good evening! i haven't yet; i'm torn a bit. we went to a museum sunday that had a really neat insect exhibit. part of the exhibit was a set of magnifying lenses so you could see the very small bugs more clearly. she really enjoyed that whole exhibit. so now it's got us trying to decide which to get her first: a telescope, or a microscope.
Ahahaha now that’s such an opposite end of the spectrum 😆
@WedaPashi ah okay. Almost same here. Although mine would be 2 travels up north. And around 20 in western ghats.
15:38
@WedaPashi It's coming along, we'll be putting up some diving videos this summer - Also the longest trek I've managed of late was only 12km so ;)
15:55
@Aravona
You already have a fan :D

why can't people just be nice
way to be kind
I don't want to flag that comment. maybe it's a cultural thing.
oh i'll do it. SO/SE rudeness is like a trigger for me.
Yayyy, 20k :-)
18:36
Congrats @WedaPashi :D

Friend just posted a climbing photo that makes me want to call him up and shout you idiot that is really not safe. He wanted to be able to check the gear on his 6 yo son's first lead. The double tied in rope disaster they had means if either falls they are both going to get hurt. Stupid people
