I just want to tell every body thanks. Being on this site has definitely improved my writing and all of the upvotes/responses/views is a real confidence booster when it comes to writing things.

@Sue Good move, adding the link for quinzee. My comment about lumitalo was meant as a subtle hint to the OP to add the link himself. But it was too subtle....

@Rory: The paparazzi trouble again?
08:51
A wee bit, yes
@WedaPashi And Yay! Congrats on the 15k!!!!
@Rory: Thanks! How are the things? Must chilling cold out at your place (?)
09:11
Things are good - busy before the Christmas break. Sadly not very cold - was 10C yesterday, and although it was a clear icy night last night, it was over 6C already when I left the house at 6:30 this morning
It is quite rare for it to get cold here until January, and even then, it almost never goes below -5C
@RoryAlsop the snow pack is looking useless north of the border. I was hoping to get some snowboarding in over Christmas (we're in Aviemore)
@Sue I've followed, I have a passing interest!
09:55
@RoryAlsop yeah it's been like that here too, yesterday I didn't even need a coat!
10:26
At it again @RoryAlsop

A: Is it unsafe to ride the chair lift with a backpack?

PaparazziIt is dangerous as it can hang up and it places you more forward in the chair (slip off). Lift operators fear packs. A hip pack is a much better option as there is a gap in the chair for the hip pack. I ski patrolled with a pack as I carried some rescue gear and would carry skis to areas the li...

When do we consider a temporary ban do you think? Or do you think this is too draconian?

I'd apprieciate everyone's support on this meta post?

Q: Be Nice - A Reminder

LiamWe've had a couple of incidents recently where people have started being quite confrontational and generally unpleasant to other users. I don't want to call anyone out or mention any specifics but can everyone read and understand the SE community "Be nice" policy: Be nice. Whether you've...

If we could get it onto the hot meta bar I feel it'd be useful

@Liam my cold anf flur drugged up brain read that as Be Nice a Reindeer.
@Aravona @liam: Hello!
@WedaPashi heya, how are you?
12:04
@WedaPashi Hey weda
12:48
Looool I just checked out the new Paparazzi case and wondered: "How the hell did he get a gold badge?!" Checked his profile and: Fanatic
lmao
13:08
@Liam - we'll look further into it to see what we need to do.
@Liam heh - us mods have a tool for that :-)
@RoryAlsop ha, cool!
13:41
@RoryAlsop that's awesome :)
@Aravona: I am fine. Yourself?
@liam: Hey buddy@!
14:27
@RoryAlsop Is the tone of that ok do you think?

@Liam I'm pretty sure I'm not the one, or one of the ones, that prompted you to write your meta post. That being said I know I can get prickly at times, so if you or anyone else feels I've crossed a line please call me out an let me know. I can't promise that I'll always agree, but I do promise I'll reflect on the feedback.
18:28
@Liam I think it's good
@Erik don't worry - most people are like you: have occasional comments that might be taken the wrong way, so a quick word and it all gets sorted. The problem is really with the tiny handful of folks who don't take a request for nicer wording very well, and escalate or argue :-/
18:53
@RoryAlsop ok good. I figured as much but wanted to reach out just in case I was wrong.
@RoryAlsop while I have you here can I ask if my reviewing privledges were suspended without me knowing about it? I can see close votes on questions when viewing the questions but my review queue is empty.

@Erik Your status looks fine on that. The number at the top actually is confusing to everyone, not ust you. It is effectively all the outstanding reviews you could possibly take (including ones you have skipped and some others, apparently)
I'll find the meta post on it

Q: Can we briefly explain the "wrong" review count where new reviewers will see it?

Monica CellioA frequently-asked question across the network is why the number in the top bar next to the "review" link doesn't match the tally of items visible in the queues. It seems like this has come up on every site where I'm active, and it's come up a lot here on MSE. Some of those roads lead to this e...

@RoryAlsop Thanks I think my case is a bit different since it isn't the notifications that I'm confused about. Since you confirmed that I'm not flagged as bad reviewer (something I've been quietly wondering for a week or two) I'll post a bug on meta with a better description of what I'm seeing.
definitely no flags or blocks on your account
ok good to know. Thanks for checking for me.
21:09
@RoryAlsop I think I figured it out. In the close votes section there is this blurb "Edits or a sufficient number of "Leave Open" reviews will remove the question from review and immediately begin aging the close votes." I'm sure what happened is the "Leave Open" votes dropped the questions I noticed from the review queue, but still showed the close vote count on the question. I got confused when I saw the close votes on the question but couldn't see the question in the queue.
Just like at work when I have a programming question. In my attempt to explain the problem well enough to ask someone else I found the answer.

Classic rubber duck debugging
Glad you figured it out
