Q: What are good items to leave in a geocache?

AravonaI started geocaching roughly a month ago and it's really fun activity to get into. I had a few questions (though one was answered already here > What should be carried in a standard Geocaching bag?) but my main question is typically for the UK due to people nature here, though all ideas are welc...

Anyone able to interpret what this practically means?
08:36
Erm @Liam we are okish? Only one negativr score
@Aravona I think it's better than last years, if my memory serves me right
More people voted too

@Liam yeah I thought we did alright. Does improving here lead to coming out of beta?
09:13
@Aravona I would guess so, though the entire process is somewhat shrouded in mystery to me!
@Liam the beta process is like a mystery wrapped in an enigma inside a white box in the fog when it's been snowing.
09:32
@Aravona ha ha, deliberately so I think
so this appears to answer what the meta question equates too

Q: Strategies for handling beta community quality evaluations

Grace NotePeriodically, the Community Team will evaluate the quality of a beta site. In addition to examining general site traffic stats and Meta activity, we check the content quality by selecting 10 random open questions with at least one answer from the past 30-40 days to see how their answers compare t...

Oh hold on, no it doesnt
this though does

Anytime you find yourself answering the same question over and over and over and over … blog post time.

This is that blog post.

This cycle has repeated itself on more sites than I can remember — When a new community approaches the end of their beta period, users start looking forward to graduation. So when that 90th day looms, anticipation starts to turn into speculation about whether the site is going to survive.

Does this site have a chance of succeeding? Is this site viable? Visits per day — should we be worried? At what point will this site grow out of the beta stage? What are the crit …

So I suppose the answer is, it depends

@Liam ... that's a useful answer lol

A: At what point will Bicycles.se grow out of the beta stage?

Robert Cartaino Must we have 15 questions per day and over 1,500 visits per day No, it doesn't really work that way. There are only a few minimum requirements that must be met before a site qualifies to graduate: Must be in beta at least 90 days. At least 10 users with 2,000+ reputation At least 5 users w...

Based on that surely we should be out of Beta.
~shrug~ I don't get it
@Aravona I would guess it's realative, how is x site (in beta) doing against y site (in beta). and the best beta wins!
10:45
Haha @Liam

@Liam I think it is a bit like that, but if you look at which sites go live when, it doesn't seem to quite match that. Maybe it is relative, but with a lead time of a couple of months - so the queueueueue gets prepared in advance
(guessing)
@RoryAlsop Yeah, law unto themselves. It is a commercial company so it's up to them really, their money
Those posts you linked to do give guidance, but it is a bit on the woolly side. But to be fair, we can try to improve the stats they measure

this question is amazing

Q: Why did Palpatine care about Anakin Skywalker in the Prequels given Palpatine's pretty good Force Vision?

bharalWhy did Palpatine care about Anakin (Vader)(Sorry, uh, spoiler alert), especially when considering his powerful "future force visions"? Palpatine organizes the framework-setting order 66 to kill the jedi. It is Palpatine who defeats Yoda. It is Palpatine pretty much organizes the whole thing. H...

Was Vader just a really really good conversationalist?

So got offered a new kayak, now trying get them to replace the undamaged one too as we want the same kayak... only used twice... it is longer and lighter though.
Because of weight it will effect the balance on the car etc. Hopefully they are cool with it.
@Liam @Aravona given that the site eval is going on right now, I wouldn't be entirely shocked to hear a graduation announcement sometime in the near(ish) future. As in 6-8 weeks type of near.
15:28
@nhinkle That'll (obviously) be excellent!!
16:06
@nhinkle that would be amazing.

That's just speculation of course based on the fact that we have a site eval going on and there's enough high-rep and active users. It could be another year, who knows. Stack Exchange staff work in mysterious ways.

3 hours later…
21:10
@nhinkle Every site gets an eval every ~6 months.
But we have seen a nice spike in activity recently.

@Kevin true, it's a regular occurrence, but if it goes well and the site already seems fairly "ready" then it can help push things along.
