@WedaPashi I was busy backpacking!
Took some friends for the first time.

07:14
Morning morning
07:43
Morning
08:01
@Liam hows it going? Good weekend?
@Aravona Yeah not bad, got a littel climbing done but mainly house stuff
found a handful of small boulders up the road which was nice. Only V1's but was nice for a little afternoon play
08:27
Turns out there are a couple of higher grade problems
@Liam oh cool :)
09:17
Did you get up to anything nice over the weekend @Aravona?
A good win in the cricket!
09:37
Yeah I saw :)
@Liam kayaked Sat morning but requesting a replacement for my poor green kayak... I called her Leaky Jane...
She has a hole in in one of the drainage holes so she fills up.
I appear to be having an entirely pointless argument here

A: Disposal of Gore-Tex or other membrane products

Russell Steenhttp://www.gore-tex.com.au/faq/w1/i1085252/ How should I dispose of a GORE-TEX® product in an environmentally safe way? Garments or footwear made from Gore laminates can be safely disposed of just like any other apparel product. Contrary to most other plastics, Polytetrafluoroethylen...

@Liam I know little or GoreTex I went for full leather... as an ex rider I know leather lol...
@Aravona Bit sweaty on the long walks?
:)
10:03
@Liam I got used to knee high leather riding boots so my walking boots are heavenly compared to those lol. I have walking shoes for better weather when I don't have a pack, don't think they are goretex though ... Karrimor Summit Womens I think they are.
@Aravona Oh, shoes! Yeah leather shoes are great. I thought you meant a leather jacket! :)
@Liam oh yeah... my leather jacket is a bitch to make you sweat even in winter!! Lol oh god that would be horrific on a hike!!
@Aravona I did wonder, LOL
@Liam lol don't worry my inability to explain myself will be something you get used to!
We are depating swinging up to windermere in Sept for a weeks kayaking
10:27
@Aravona That'll be nice
I know a really nice campsite on windermere if your interested?
Low Wray campsite
It's national trust. Nice facilities and in a lovely spot right on the lake.
@Liam my other half mentioned that one yeah :)
We have a week off early September so... trying to decide what to do with it
@Aravona Weather is normally nice around then.
"normally"
10:44
@Liam lol well looks like we are camping in the rain next weekend so... can survive!

3 hours later…
13:26
@nHinkle: Those are very good pictures. :)
@LIam, @Aravona: Hey there!
@WedaPashi Hi Weda
Hows things?
13:45
@WedaPashi heya :)
@Liam I think my other half was a bit miffed I posted on our blog about how he walked into my dads golf clubs and groined himself.
@Aravona ha ha
wood to the groin
@Aravona, did you know plas-y-brening periodically sell off their used kayaks
They were selling them a couple of weeks ago, I think you may of missed out
Worth keeping an eye out though
I like your people page
14:11
@Liam lol yes my other half enjoyed writing those... more to come as we venture forth with more people.
The kayaks we have have a life time warranty on them so any damage should just mean a new free kayak :)
@Aravona Cool
Didn't real;ise kayaks came with stuff like that]
After reading an article today in the daily mail about this amazig welsh guy who walked 1500miles across mongolia solo ... at 25 I feel bad that my biggest accomplishment thus far is Snowdon lol... well I rode an Arab Stallion in the desert at Giza but still lol
@Aravona That's pretty cool! Different people have different goals. If you compete with everyone you'll always feel inferior! Well that's how I feel anyway. That said, given the right environment I'm super competitive!
@Liam no it's not so much competetiveness as regret at laziness... we have so many plans to do so much... its just time we got on with a few! :)
That guy was just super inspirational :)
14:32
@Aravona which guy?
@Liam that mongolia walk guy
@Aravona haha, I have no idea what your talking about? Am I being thick here?
room topic changed to The Great Outdoors: the bloody duct is f**king freezing my temple! [air-con-wars] [banana-measurements] [euphemism] [the-mongolian-walk-guy] [www-goliveoutdoors-com] [www-metaltech-me]
@Aravona Do you mean the K2 guide? If so he was from Pakistan...?
@Liam I mentioned him like half hour ago... 23 year old who did a 1500mile walk across mongolia solo. I found that rather inspiring to get on and do some of my own goals :)
@Aravona OH I found it!! Sorry I'm obviously not quite with it today...
14:51
@Liam ... I spent 30 minutes wondering if I had broken my phpmyadmin installation when I gave it a new virtual host... no I just had the wrong password...

@Aravona I'm trying to unravel badly written code....again....IF this job wasn't so close to the mountains I'd quit and find some well written code! :D
@Liam haha... mountains are win!! ... so looking forward to Sat!!
Hmm no new questions in a while might have to think one up...
I was tempted to ask a geocaching item list for the UK... bearing in mind idiots... but thought that could be a bit OT
Or what people recommend in a geocaching kit.
@Aravona I wouldn't know what this was so it would be useful I'd say?
@Liam cool I'll have a quick look then maybe right one

Q: What are good geocaching items for the UK?

AravonaI started geocaching roughly a month ago and it's really fun activity to get into. I had a few questions (though one was answered already here > What should be carried in a standard Geocaching bag?) but my main question is typically for the UK due to people nature here, though all ideas are welc...

asked anyway, debated an 'equipment' tag but it isn't really something you use regularly as drop off...
15:29
@Aravona Slightly edited your questions to make it a little clearer. Have I got the right end of the stick?
Incidentally I removed UK as you've put onto the question. It's generally good not to repeat tags as they are referenced separately by Search engines, etc.
Oh cool no worries will check the edit @Liam thanks
@Liam perfectly happy with the edit... though those items are too big for some caches I like them for the big caches :)
15:49
@Aravona I'm not really a geocacher so it was a bit of an educated guess
don't tell anyone (looks shifty)
I reckon the light is pretty small. They compact down to a couple of cm's
@Aravona
another reason to leave SO alone these days

Q: Stop mob-downvoting users on the main site for their actions there and their opinions on Meta

CupcakeI've seen a few users on Meta recently who appear to be getting lynch-mobbed on the site after either posting an unpopular opinion here, or being the subject of a post because of their actions. At first I dismissed it as being unrelated to Meta activity: You made a bunch of edits within the ...

@Liam ooh that is nifty then!
Hey @nhinkle
16:10
@Liam I use SO to read answers... never asked there
@Aravona I've asked an answered a few. The patients are taking over the asylum though
Its a lazy lazy Monday!
@WedaPashi hey weda
nice
I've been busy!
I took a day off. Spent the whole day in my sleeping bag.. Cellphone battery was dead since morning, didn't bother to get up and plug it in for charging. Just got hold of Laptop, which too was hibernated, logged in, pinged you guys in the chat room, and slid the sleeping bag zip again.. Lazy Monday!
@WedaPashi I refer you too

16:48
@WedaPashi .... sod :P
To be fair I didn't have too taxing a Monday I just kept making silly mistakes lol
@aravona: Well, is that a weekend aftereffect?
@WedaPashi probably lol
@aravona: haha.. Thats unavoidable then :P
Afternoon all
@RoryAlsop: hey there.. afternoon! (Its 10.25 pm in India BTW)
16:54
Afternoon!
Ok... is there actually a difference between a walk, a trek and a hike? Or is it just preference?
I use hike / walk intermittently
@Aravona In terms of effort I'd put walk lowest, then hike, then trek
walk might be a couple of hours, not too much in the way of hills. Trek is a multi-day hike
(that's what I think anyhow :-)
@RoryAlsop so it's just length / difficulty?
Preference I don't mind I just use hike or walk and mean the same thing usually lol
I wondered others views on the matter :)
@Liam ... picked up a thermos and asked my other half if he knew where mine was... his reply? You're holding it....
@WedaPashi nice way to spend a Monday
I spent an hour on a boat and 7 hours driving through storms today. Was very exciting :-)
17:39
@RoryAlsop awesome :)
