@Liam @Aravona @RoryAlsop @RussellSteen @EverythingRightPlace: One question: is @EverythingTightPlace = @bashophil ?
@nhinkle: Hey there!
06:20
@RoryAlsop @RussellSteen @Liam @Aravona: Why can't we have an option to add/mark an answer as a Favorite (the way we have for questions) ?? I would have loved to have that!
06:49
@WedaPashi I think it's because when you favourite a question you have easy access to all the answers.
@WedaPashi howdy. I'm actually about to go to bed :)
I don't think many people would favour an answer without liking the question?
But before I go to bed, here is a picture from this weekend when I hiked/climbed South Sister, the 3rd highest peak in Oregon:
@nhinkle very nice!
07:17
@RoryAlsop only just saw one of your comments to me because it didn't have a proper tag with my name on - similar weave clothing dark is still better than light - had nurses and science tutors tell me the same, and experience has proven it to me also. I did say of similar weave, so of course a thicker white material will likely be better than a darker thin one, but I already clarified them being similar :)
07:51
@nhinkle: Thats a lovely pic. Please share some more info abt the place if you can.
08:18
Hey guys
Heya
@WedaPashi You'll have to raise that with SE. You can customise some of the aspects of this site but I don't believe that is one of them. Though I'm not 100% sure
08:38
Did our first Geocache last night :) ran out of time to do more but there are 5 others in my immediate area with loads more nearby :)
@Aravona Cool, never tried it myself. What's involved?
@Liam: Hi Liam
@Liam @Aravona: Have anybody of you used MyTracks?
@Liam we just downloaded the geocaching app and went from there. It shows any caches nearby then you just go an hunt them down... sign the physical log book then you can post online you found it and anything you added or took awat
@WedaPashi MYTracks?
08:55
@WedaPashi nope, whats that?
09:37
@Liam, @Aravona: MyTracks is an android app, I use it to mark my entire trek. All I do is turn the trail mark on, and it caches all the map and GPS co-ords and mark the entire trail that I walked.
Oh that sounds cool. Is it free @WedaPashi?
@Aravona: Yes. Google Play!
@Aravona: You'll find it on Google Play
@Aravona: There is another one name "AlpineQuest" which is a paid one, but too good.
@WedaPashi lol just because it's on the play store doesn't make it free unfortunately. But since you say it is I'll look into it.... thank you! :)
10:04
Anybody know anything about air rifles?
Why do you need a jacket?
Would a question on this be on topic?
Went ahead an asked a question anyway
0
Q: What is a "shooting jacket"?

LiamI read this news report today about a Malaysian competitor in the commonwealth games. Commonwealth shooting champion Nur Ayuni Farhana Abdul Halim will be unable to compete in Glasgow after her competition jacket went missing.... "The rules clearly state that a rifle shooter must wear a ...

Shooting, on topic...?
10:28
Shooting is an outdoors activity but also a sport. Depends on the shooting type maybe @Liam
Air rifles to me not so much a sport rifle. No license needed.
@Aravona If worst comes wot worst it gets migrated somewhere
@Liam true... but in the case of hunting it qould be on topic here no? I think it is an overlap but ok
11:14
@Liam it's like Ingress only less augmented reality :-)
Somewhere I have a really good list of apps to aid with Geocaching
I'll post it here (cc @Aravona)
it includes tools to aid in solving cryptic clues
room topic changed to The Great Outdoors: it's like Ingress only less augmented reality [euphemism]
@RoryAlsop You describing life?
@Liam very good
Interestingly, you get to meet a lot of traditional Geocachers when INgressing, as a lot of the portals are good cache spots. I have introduced a lot of folks to Ingress like this - it is a nice progression
11:31
@RoryAlsop between the official geocaching app and ingress I have had much more luck geocaching than leveling on ingress. Debating whether to carry on with it or not as they have very poor customer support and it has some very strange bugs
I like the official geocaching app, using the free version, very easy to use.
12:07
@Aravona bugs on Ingress? Hmm - I haven't seen any in 19 months playing...
Are you on iOS? It's a new port
Nope android @RoryAlsop very commom bugs when starting apparently... people getying put on the opposite side to what the select... they CS is backlogged with it atm. Happened to my other half.
Getting*
@Liam the shooting question seemed to go down well :)
12:22
@Aravona how weird. Wonder if this is down in part to the vast influx of new players.
@Aravona it did, didn't it. I was unsure how it would be received, as it is firmly on topic on Sports.SE
@RoryAlsop perhaps. But also for me a factor to remove the app is time, as well as location, I do not have time in the week to go off to a location 2-3km from my home midweek... and at weekends I'm busy with other things. But we have geocaches literally on our doorstep in the two surrounding woodlands :)
@RoryAlsop but I think guns and shooting are also on topic here as an outdoors topic. I shoot but not often and am not licensed (I shoot under my dads club license at his clubs sometimes)
@RoryAlsop I've had it freeze on me occasionally. total black screen
@RoryAlsop yeah, I was a bit tentative. It was a question I genuinely wanted to know the answer for.
@Liam do you shoot at all?
13:03
@Aravona Oh, I agree. I was glad it got the attention.
@Aravona I used to, back in the early-mid eighties, but it got more difficult after that. These days I do a wee bit of clays and some archery.
13:32
@Aravona Not really. I used to shoot rabbits when I was a kid. I live in City Centre liverpool (for a couple more weeks at least) so the local guns aren't really for "recreational" use :)
I used to be a decent shot back in the day .22 air rifles (nothing major)
13:45
@Liam @RoryAlsop I enjoy .22 Gallery and we have an air rifle at home... in case of rats
@Aravona ;-)
@RoryAlsop that's what we get for being in the country
14:08
@Aravona Well, I'm sort of in the country, but realistically, the only targets would be deer, swans, hedgehogs and that sort of thing - and I kind of like them :-)
14:19
@RoryAlsop Understandable. We have deer, muntjac, rabbits, hedgehogs, kites, swans.... but we have ducks and chickens in the garden and Rats aren't good for either

3 hours later…
16:58
Two more caches found and loving it :) three to find tomorrow

1 hour later…
18:09
@WedaPashi You're welcome :)
@WedaPashi Yes I needed some variation
I also changed the pic haha
