Q: Control of neural systems

Dionysios GerogiadisIt turns out that my work in nonlinear dynamics directly maps to Integrate and Fire models and could even provide a new way to control them (manipulate the firing rates). However, it is unclear to me if my findings are interesting or just old news. I am looking for literature on the intersection...

@Ooker That would be great as well. :)
And feel free to chime in. At this point any opinion is welcome.
@BenBrocka Hey Ben! How are things? Would love to have your UX input and moderator experience during the upcoming meeting about reviving CogSci!

@ChristianHummeluhr Hey Christian! At last I ping you in regards to some 'true change'. :) We have quite a bit of momentum now of people joining next Monday to discuss the changes which will be implemented at the end of this month. Hope you can join. If not, hope you leave your opinion after the chat on Meta!
@Krysta Same goes for you. Hope you can voice your opinion on your 'no initial research' close reason, among other suggestions next Monday during the group chat.

Q: Cognitive Sciences Reboot 2017: Call for action

Robin KramerWelcome (former) CogSci users! Several months ago we gave it another shot: we started a procedure to reboot CogSci to try and finally get us out of Beta. Most of us agree changes need to be made to CogSci to make it work. We have now reached a point where your input is needed to help decide on t...

@mfloren you are correct. It should be 17. @stevenjeuris and @josh is it possible to have our changed
Our = it*
@RobinKramer Yikes .. that's stupid. :/
I can't seem to change it. I guess best thing to do is add a new one and ask @Josh to remove his.
Steven Jeuris has added an event to this room's schedule.
Steven Jeuris has removed an event from this room's schedule.
Never mind, found the cancel button. Unfortunately no 'change' button.

Yeah I don't think they can be changed @StevenJeuris
Did I make it for the wrong day? whoops :-p
As for adding it to the front page @StevenJeuris I think there's a banner you can put up in the mod tools... I no longer have access to those so I forget exactly where
Ask in the Teacher's Lounge for help
Oh .. I can create a community event of course!
Sorry guys, things got really crazy for me personally and I just couldn't commit to being a mod anymore. I still love the site and really believe in it, but I wasn't finding any time to moderate and so I asked them to give my diamond to someone who has the time. :-(
Also, just to be clear: the activity of the site has nothing to do with this -- nothing happening here could have changed my life situation. I took a new job, had to move away from my partner, was on-call for 66.6% of my time, bought a new house... I just have no free time anymore
There it is! :)
(I saw comments about me leaving because I was bored -- that's far from the truth!)
That's okay Josh. I appreciate it a lot you do free up time to join the chat though!
13:59
@StevenJeuris perfect, that's the best way to list this event
Sure thing -- I still get pings from chat and comments on my phone, and I'll join to respond :)
Also, don't know how well-connected you still are in TL, but possibly it would make sense to invite one of 'the higher powers' as well?
Mostly concerning the site name change.
Haven't been in the TL for years, sadly. But yes, maybe Anna Leer or ask Shog9
Of course, I know they prefer to just show community effort and bring that forward, hence the whole arrangement of the event.
Hope to create some momentum this time.

So ... as you might have noticed I have been pinging people in chat, as well as on Meta, to attend the event next Monday. I've mainly been looking at the top voters on Meta since I believe those are most likely to have an opinion about the site.
But, by all means, invite potential future users, or anyone I might be leaving out you feel makes sense to attend.
I'll go over top rep users in the main site tomorrow.
