I had a conversation with someone about not being able to moderate a site unless one spoke the language. There's an election going on at English Stack Overflow right now.
As an example I said that it wouldn't be possible for someone like me to even write a nomination post. But they said: You could write it in English. And with google translate you can still handle most of the flags.
That made me curious and I wanted to know what the users of the site would feel about something like that.
I don't have any plans for this. I was only curious. I expect all Answers given must be in Russian, no? I mean that is the point of the site, if I understand it corrrectly.
@Scratte for ru.stackoverflow.com its correct, non-russian questions/answers usually are trashed in a few seconds (but some times someone edits and translates it)
@Scratte Well, for some reason, non-native Russian text causes a negative reaction here (sad, not the best side of the community). Probably for historical reason (never been a lot of immigrants in Russia as in the States). So, if you r planning to answer here via googletrans, be ready for a battle to the death =) Not sure about other non-english speaking communities though.
Thank you :) I don't mind being told that my posts are ****. I'd probably just agree and say that I'm very sorry and if they could maybe help me with an edit.
