Got an e-mail from Wolfram, Inc. for a nice deck of playing cards for only $3.75. But there is a minimum $13.00 shipping charge. I think I'll shuffle off to a better offer.

@user21 all very impressive: blog.wolfram.com/2020/12/16/…
You've done a killer job with the PDE stuff even if I don't use it because I don't really work with complicated PDEs 😅

@b3m2a1, thanks for the kind words! I appreciate that.

The new version looks like it has some really nice functionality. I have barely used Mathematica for 2 years now as I've moved into bioinformatics, but if the bio-sequence functionality increases I might be able to pick it back up for some things

Hmm, does anyone know what the SystemCredential docs mean when they say "Under Linux, one of the supported wallet systems can be used."
Ah, SystemCredentialStoreObject: "On Linux, the default back end is "EncryptedFile". Linux can also use "KWallet" or "LibSecret" backends if they are available."

MaTeX users who upgrade to Mathematica 12.2 should make sure to use MaTeX 1.7.8 (latest version).

Any idea on whether RemoteBatchSubmit will be usable within a PBS/Torque cluster?

Wow, a second Advent of Code day focused on cellular automata. Today's even more direct than day 11. Essentially, "run outer totalistic code 224 for 6 steps in 3 and 4 dimensions". Curious to compare the Wolfram to Python solution for that one.

On December 21, 2020, a visual astronomical spectacle will occur. The planets Jupiter and Saturn will pass so close to each other in the sky that, to the unaided eye, they will be difficult to separate. This is the closest the two planets have come in 397 years; the last time they were this close [...]

not too impressed by the new TeX formatting: 1) it looks like crud, 2) it freezes the front-end when I click on a TeX box to edit it

@JimB You inspired me that I still don't have a Wolfram mug so I checked on the store. 7 euro for the mug, 26 euro for the shipping

@CarlLange If one could tolerate spending around 5% of the cost to be associated with shipping, then you'd only need to order 71 mugs: Solve[26/(n 7 + 26) == 0.05, n].
I won two t-shirts a couple of years ago that were shipped separately - now I appreciate them even more :D
