Anyone know how to keep the rotate/pan/zoom tools active on Deploy[Graphics3D[...]]?

10:16 PM
Using the artificial texture of deconvolve algorithm when it over-deconvole.

Interesting image
Does anyone know how to properly right align a button in a dialog (CreateDialog)?

 GaussianMatrix[2.7], Method -> "TSVD"]

This second one is much better

Maybe use GradientFilter in a small neighborhood for every point to determine a dominant direction will do better.

@Jin You should post the Hedcut question, it seems answers are brewing
I really need to sleep now. (True it's the third time I'm saying it..)

@Jin you should post any of these as a question
I'd love to see what people will come up with

Technically these are give me the code questions ... not that I don't like them, but how do we differentiate between the good ones and the bad ones?

acl
@Szabolcs how so? I was going to post a question with my code and say "could I do this better?" but I thought I'd let someone else ask

I mean, if a new user asks, "How do I program a Tetris game", he'd be turned down most likely ... "what have you tried?"

acl
or did you mean asking "how do I do X" and leaving it at that?

I need to sleep, too.. After staying up all night..

10:30 PM
right, I had in mind posting some code. but maybe Jin can't yet write enough mma code to do that

exactly

acl
in any case nobody objected to this so I thought the consensus in the end was that it's OK
but OK. maybe I'll ask tomorrow with my poor man's code and see what happens

R.M
Or Mr.Wizard's jigsaw and trie questions (and several more by others)
While the standard response to a gimme-da-codez question is "What have you tried?", I think an unwritten metric that everyone uses to evaluate it is "Is this person a freeloader?". Since I have no information on that for a new user or one who has only asked several questions here, I go with asking them to show effort. On the other hand, if it is an established member of this community who has continuously contributed to the site and helped others, I don't mind it as long as it is not rampant.

acl
"I would like to implement DMRG in mathematica. Can anyone help?"

R.M
Yes yes, it should be within reason too...
"How can I find the Higgs boson using Mathematica?"

11:25 PM
"I want to win a Nobel prize. I did it in C#. How to do that now with Mma"
Functional style, please

Jin
@acl @Szabolcs I'm afraid I wouldn't even know how to phrase my question intelligently since I literally know 0 about Mathematica. Maybe once I create some code of my own, I can at least ask the community to improve it

R.M
@Jin I think "I made the damned design for this site. Now gimme-da-codez" might work ;)

Jin
lol. no... but I'm sure i'll be asking a lot of questions in the future.

R.M
that would be great!
