About the quadratic fitting. I think it surely worth a further investigation. Just one note, if we have a series {X_i := k*i + \epsilon_i } where {\epsilon_i} are random numbers drawn from independent identical distribution. Then accumulated series { Y_i := \sum_{k=1}^{i} X_k } will not be independent. If one does fitting on {Y_i}, uncertainty will be smoothed out.

@Silvia I'm glad to hear that you're ok. I think I will actually almost surely do that if the virus shows up in this area. Authorities here already want us to have food for one to two weeks at home in case of the outbreak of a war so then I'll make them happy in the process, but somehow a virus seems like a more plausible threat.
