@JasonB The first one will evaluate if you accidentally load the package the second time. Also, for DynamicModule's variables delayed own values are not saved. And the third argument for the second option is that it looks more natural to call a procedure with [] instead of naked symbol.
@JasonB take a look at this topic and Mr.Wizard's comments below: Working with DynamicModule: SetDelayed + OwnValues

While trying to Build a documentation with WWB3.0 I get, among others, this error:
> C:\Users\Kuba\.eclipse\org.eclipse.platform_3.8_2129800915\configuration\org.ecl‌ipse.osgi\bundles\11\2\.cp\MathematicaSource\DocumentationBuild\SystemFiles\ant\B‌uild\notebook.xml:71: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: java.lang.ClassLoader.registerAsParallelCapable()Z
How to fix it?

@Kuba It may mean that your JRE that you are using for Eclipse (for ant, to be precise), is still Java 6, while in other places Java 8 already is used - or in any case, a mismatch between JRE verisons. Change the JRE to Java 8 (perhaps download and install it, if you don't have it yet), and make sure that the new one is used by ant. Here is the relevant discussion.
@LeonidShifrin Thanks, will check :)
@Kuba This happened to me, this is how I fixed it.
@LeonidShifrin worked, that was easy, thanks. I already had 8_101 but ant was using something shipped with WWB by default.

@Kuba I have the same problem, and I followed here to change the default JRE in the "Installed JRE" setting. But the only JRE show up is the java version 6. I try to download and install the java 8, but it still doesn't show up in the "Installed JRE" setting.
Any ideas?
I also tried to look up what version I have:
/usr/libexec/java_home -V
`Matching Java Virtual Machines (2):
1.6.0_65-b14-468, x86_64: "Java SE 6" /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Home
1.6.0_65-b14-468, i386: "Java SE 6" /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Home`
@Kuba I fixed the Java problem now by installing the jave SDK. Now I have java 8 shows up in the "WB->Preference->Java->Installed JREs".
Hi everyone,
my following code does not work, why?

kts[q_] := Sqrt[A^2*q^2]/(3.1/2*A^2)
A = 1;
IntegrateKTS = Integrate[kts[q], q]
But when after I set the defualt JRE to java 8, I still have the same java.lang.ClassLoader.registerAsParallelCapable()Z error.
@Kuba OK, I found it. I should also change the JRE in the "External Tools Configurations".
Thanks :)
@Jacccy I get 0.322581 q Sqrt[q^2], what do you expect?

That is awkward that it is working on your PC, I get:
$RecursionLimit::reclim: Recursion depth of 1024 exceeded. >>
SetDelayed::write: Tag Hold in Hold[1/\[Pi]] is Protected. >>
$Failed
$RecursionLimit::reclim: Recursion depth of 1024 exceeded. >>
Hold[1/\[Pi]]

@xslittlegrass sorry, wasn't online to answer :)
Good you've found the solution

@Jacccy Do you get the same error after restarting the kernel?

Q: Workbench install 64-bit on Windows 7

garyI have downloaded the Workbench 2.0.0 zip file and followed the install new software -> add -> archive steps to install the workbench plugin. After that, the Workbench core and webMathematica tools are listed as already installed. I installed the plugin into a 3.8 vintage eclipse. When I try to...

for people who don't have MMA V9 to try the trick from the answer?

Ok, ilian has answered in comments.
@Kuba Alas, have no idea. While I have used Eclipse extensively in my Java days, I never tried to use WB in the Eclipse plugin mode. Any particular reason for your interest in this?
@LeonidShifrin to create documentation :)
@Kuba but why not through proper WB?
@Kuba Ok I see the comments
@LeonidShifrin all those errors I've mentioned I had with WWB 3.0.
not a plugin
@Kuba I see. It's been a while since I had to build documentation locally, so I never encountered these issues.

@LeonidShifrin sure, no worries
