@halirutan This is ethically questionable.

@C.E. The question is, has the guy to which the link points permission to publish it. Is it an older version and it is OK that he puts the PDF, etc.. I haven't checked that. It was one of the first hits on google, so anyone can find it. Isn't it at least a bit better that it improves the chances that Sal does indeed see this and can do something about it if it is not OK?
@C.E. With "Mathematica cookbook pdf" it is the first hit in google, but I completely agree that a site like SE will increase the visibility dramatically.
What should we do? I can edit my answer and write a mail to Sal if I find his address.
@C.E. I'm writing him this very moment.
@C.E. Oh, goddamn it. I cannot send a message over LinkedIn without being connected to him and his site seems to be down. Do you have a mail address?
Ok, found one.

@halirutan I don't think we have an obligation to report this to Sal, but not spreading it is best. The book was published by O'Reilly, so it's unlikely that some guy at a university in Budapest has permissions to publish it ;)

@C.E. Well, I hate publishers and I would do anything to harm this machinery of money-printing, but I highly value the work of others. I sent Sal an email and removed the link from my answer.

@halirutan ok, good. Yeah, I'm not thinking about the publisher. I think about the authors.
