23:00
Ok here is my code:
print "hello world 2048";
Does anyone online know how to work with JSON in python?
@DarkMirror good code!
lol it just disappeared
lmao
sorry
user55340
printf("%d",42); /* This will print 42 to the screen */
char buffer [64];
sprintf(buffer,"%d",42); /* this will store "42\0" in buffer */
23:01
const int MAX_MESSAGE_LENGTH = 4;
char message[ MAX_MESSAGE_LENGTH ];
sprintf( message, "%d", this->getScore());
i think it works yea?
@DarkMirror ...dunno... does it?
eww got an error
warning C4996: 'sprintf': This function or variable may be unsafe.
user55340
And its true... it may be.
user55340
What happens if score is greater than 4?
YES
It worked
Yee haw!
user55340
23:03
That said, if you can't use itoa, I doubt you'll be able to use sprintf.
I don't really care anymore lol
@MichaelT do you know much python?
as long as my game works.. XD
user55340
@AwesomeUser It uses spaces to indent...
user55340
Just wait till someone has a 5 digit score. Then you'll be unhappy.
23:04
How do SQL Server and Oracle programmers deal with nested queries? In Access, I could save separate SELECT queries, and reference those saved queries as if they were tables or views in new queries. In ordinary SQL, it seems like you need subqueries.
haha it will never be
user55340
hint: log(2048) is greater than 4 but less than 5. Well, log base 10.
4096
is max i can think right now
what?
I never thought of that =S
const int MAX_MESSAGE_LENGTH = 100;
woo saved my day
user55340
And don't forget the space for the null.
oh i said 0
If it's zero don't draw anything
user55340
23:06
Note: You'll never need more than 20 if its an integer.
make sense
user55340
log(2^64) = 19.26
2^64
yea
@MichaelT Who doesn't indent their code? (You can use tabs with python)
isn't 2^63
user55340
23:07
@Zeroth Its more a what I know about it... granted, I do know a bit more, I can look at it and see whats going on... but its not in my top 5 list for go-to code languages.
Ahh, sorry, misinterpreted.
I have one question what's the difference between char and char*?
I'm used to people ragging on Python for indentation being important
user55340
(I want to say Thank you to ChrisF for the close on that old name bikeshed question)
which I tell them Python does support ; and {}. You just have to prepend them with #
(# = //)
user55340
If I really wanted to write python, it would start out:
user55340
#!/usr/bin/perl

use Acme::Pythonic;
I am thinking of using 2D arrays
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
23:10
and using node = data['type']
But, I don't know how to declar 2D arrays of pointers
@MichaelT
I can get that to work. But it doesn't seem to want me to put in mag

> SuperPython brings to Perl all the benefits of Python's vaunted whitespace-sensitivity, including readability, maintainability, less punctuation, and all that other great crap. In fact, it goes several steps further than Python in this direction. However, SuperPython retains Perl's powerful and flexible underlying semantics.
23:12
It would be running on a RPi
Can it support super python?
user55340
Note: SuperPython is a perl joke.
user55340
package SuperPython;

$VERSION = 0.91;

use Filter::Simple sub
{
    s/( *)	/chr(length($1))/ge;
};

1;
user55340
Getting back to serious python though, the questions you have are ones I can't answer. I could look at something see the algorotihim and give you an idea about how it works and whats wrong with the algorothim (you've got a loop here that is unnecessary type things)
user55340
But once you get to the data types and debugging at that level, I'm out without spending a long time looking at it with a debugger in a nice IDE.
Yeah, normally I could help you AwesomeU, but I
m about to log off after a long work day. :(
23:20
Ok thanks
user55340
This room is rather 9-5 ish.
user55340
@AwesomeUser you might try asking in the SO Python room:
user55340
though it looks like they might be spinning down for the evening too... still, a better chance of getting someone to look at the python code in depth than here.
user55340
(we're a hodgepodge of Java, C#, haskell... and one guy even admits to VBA... and we can dredge up C if asked to...) But we tend to prefer to deal with the higher level architectural and methodology issues that transcend language choice.
