Q: The answer to the following question solves twin prime conjecture, please answer carefully!

zakariya ovizadehI want to know if the union of the equations A to E covers N fully for sufficiently large X and Y running over non-negative integers A = 10XY + X + Y (non-zero X and Y) B = 10XY + 9X + 9Y + 8 C = 10XY + 7X + 3Y + 2 D = 10XY + X + 3Y (non-zero Y) E = 10XY + 9X + 7Y + 6 we know neither unio...

Q: Proof that -1 = 1

David Sousa$-1 = (-1)^{2/2}$ $= 1^{1/2} = 1$ Where is the error in this proof? It has to be wrong. This is driving me crazy.

Duplicate/well known "false proof"/lack of context
Bad post generally

This must be a duplicate. Surely there are a few noncommutative algebra book posts that will suffice.

This appears to be an incorrect answer? As a moderator, I am supposed to pretend that I don't know any math, so if someone else could give eyes, I would appreciate it.

@XanderHenderson I agree that it's incorrect. The answerer admits so in the comments.
Dv/D new user duplicates 11 year old answer and gets many upvotes .
^^^ never mind, is now self-deleted

I'm not sure CURED can do anything here, but I'll ask anyway. This question about partitions is old, highly upvoted, and is a common dupe target. Two of the answers have +7 scores, yet they are completely wrong, as they mistakenly assume that order matters. Wrong answer 1 and wrong answer 2.
Ideally, these misinformative answers should be downvoted to oblivion and then deleted.

@MikeEarnest That is about the best that can be done---wrong answers should be downvoted and deleted.
Officially, moderators are not really supposed to step in to delete wrong answers (we are not required to be content experts, and so we generally don't moderate on the basis of whether or not the content is correct).
However, the context of the question itself being an important dupe target may play a role. Let me have a look...
I've deleted math.stackexchange.com/a/602633, on the grounds that it is both incorrect and missing details. In addition, the author wrote a second answer, which seems to indicate that they maybe just didn't know how to use the edit button. That seems like a reasonably defensible position for a moderator to take.
The other wrong answer is, I agree, wrong. But my hands are a little tied. I would recommend deletion of math.stackexchange.com/a/729592 .
I would also recommend that math.stackexchange.com/a/3849981 be deleted. It doesn't seem like a very high-quality answer (in my opinion).
@XanderHenderson Thank you, Xander. :^)
