@XanderHenderson for example, I can't vote to delete this post
(I'm not saying I want to, just that I don't have the ability to)
> You must wait for a question to be closed for 2 days before you can vote for deletion. This restriction is removed for trusted users when a post scores -3 or lower.
so I need to wait 2 days after its closed, and deleting answers is for people with reputation over 20k

Q: various questions on $x^N + 1$ variants of Collatz procedure

Bryle MorgaThis post asks various questions about two variants of Collatz Procedure: You are given a fixed natural number $N ≥2$ . Whenever you encounter an even number $x$, we apply $x\rightarrow x/2$ and if we encounter an odd number we apply $x^N-1$ (Generalizes the variant in this post) In this variant...

Old PSQ which was not closed before it could be answered; an edit bumped it to the top of the queue. It is also a duplicate many times over. Prove $\lim_{x\to+\infty}(\ln x)/x = 0$ using the definition of limit‭ - user545830‭ 2018-03-26 11:35:41Z

@Jakobian I agree, no point in useless arguing on the internet, and if you say so I will happily delete this post. Whenever I see a comment section like this (quiteoften), I always think about this thread shorturl.at/kntV8 I saw once before. I feel like the overly-strict "duplicate closure" policy on this site is contrary to the "point" of the site in the first place. I received four vastly different answers, and I considered each one. I think this encompasses the beauty of mathematics and provides an alternate perspective than the other "duplicate" answers. With respect. — codeing_monkey 14 mins ago
@XanderHenderson can you help? This person is very argumentative and I'm not sure what to tell them
Dv/D Incorrect answer, author agrees it is incorrect, highly upvoted.
22:16
@BillDubuque the author of an upvoted, accepted answer, cannot immediately delete it, even if they want to. As Mike (the answerer) has explained, he flagged his answer for moderator attention to enable deletion.
22:28
@amWhy Yes, of course I know that. But it has been over a month since the author said they would flag it. So I flagged it again and also got the ball rolling here.
@BillDubuque Good point; I didn't catch the date.
I think we have enough users here that we can at least get it downvoted from 7 to below zero (so we don't need to rely on (slow) diamond mods). It was referenced in a recent question.
22:52
@BillDubuque agreed! (now down to 5). But the question doesn't merit upvotes, either.
23:13
@Jakobian You really don't need to ping me for things like this. It is what flags are for.
@XanderHenderson oh... did the author do something wrong?
I don't understand
@Jakobian Presumably, if you are pinging me here to intervene, you believe that the user has done something wrong. Otherwise, why would you bother pinging a moderator?
23:35
Because you're more experienced, can phrase your opinions in a way better way than I do, and you are in position of authority. I didn't believe the user did something wrong but there might be some misconceptions about how this site should work which I hoped you'd clarify to them, for which I don't feel confident about stating for certain
In general, if you ping me---particularly in this room---my default assumption is that you are requesting moderator intervention (since this is primarily a chatroom for moderation). If you are just looking for general feedback, please don't ping me here.
If you think that pinging you here is a request of moderation intervention, then I'll refrain from doing so unnecessarily
