Q: Mutated Collatz Sequence

Py PyWith a python program, i started experimenting with a variant of collatz sequence i created. The rules goes like this: if $A_n$ is even, $B_n=A_{n-1}/2$ if $A_n$ is odd, $B_n = 3A_{n-1} + 1$ with a probability of $\varepsilon$ (let's call this mutation rate), $A_n = B_n + 1$. Else $A_n = B_n$ I...

Q: Riemann Hypothesis follows from the statement $M\left(x\right)=o_x(x^{\frac{1}{2}+\varepsilon})$

linuxbeginnerRecall that the Mertens function is defined via: $$M(n):=\sum_{n\ge x\ge 1} \mu(x)$$ Where $\mu$ is the Möbius function. Littlewood proved that if $M\left(x\right)=o_x(x^{\frac{1}{2}+\varepsilon})$ for every $\varepsilon>0$ then Riemann Hypothesis follows. RH states that all the zeros of the Riem...

@SmokeDetector I really don't see the reason to make the title less generically understandable and less accessible by using MathJax to format text that's literally just numbers and/or explicit Unicode characters with the intended meaning. OTOH, I can understand using MathJax in the title when it's an equation or something that's not easily expressed in straight Unicode characters, but that's not the case here.
@Makyen You know that SmokeDetector is a bot and is transcribing the exact title of the post, right?
@KReiser Yep, I'm one of the key contributors for the Charcoal project which runs SD/MS. I initially saw the report from SD in Charcoal HQ. It got me thinking about what we'd need to do to not detect MathJax in titles for that detection reason.
As part of looking at that post (and not detracting from not wanting to erroneously detect MathJax in titles), I also was wondering why use MathJax in this particular instance, when the detriments appeared to outweigh the benefits, IMO. I posted the above message in here, because someone in this room might have thoughts on that, potentially including that I wasn't considering some additional benefit I wasn't aware of to using MathJax in this instance.

@Makyen Oh wonderful, thank you for your valuable work in maintaining SmokeDetector!
@Makyen I think for the mathjax usage in this instance, we're looking at an inexperienced user who may have not completely absorbed the norms around it here. (We are also maybe not the clearest on MathJax guidelines here?) I know some people run chat addons to display mathjax - it might be a step back for them if previously mathjax'd text was stripped of delimiters, but I can't tell you how big that population is.
@Makyen The consensus standard on Math is use MathJax, not Unicode. The typesetting looks better that way. I don't know that there is a strong consensus, but a failure to use MathJax is generally an indication that there are other problems, too, as there are with that question.
Smokey done did good.
It should be given a biscuit.

@XanderHenderson I'd like a sliced biscuit smothered with strawberries and cream!
@amWhy You'll have to asked @Makyen. I don't have any biscuits, and I was thinking doggie biscuits, anyway.
@XanderHenderson :p
