There are three questions about linear transformations with $T^2=\lambda T$ which are almost identical. I'd say that only one of them has at least a bit of context, so probably that one would be the most suitable duplicate target. What do you think?
Here they are from oldest to newest:
149822: [If $T\colon \mathbb R^n \to \mathbb R^n $ linear and $T^2 = kT$ ](math.stackexchange.com/q/149822)
Maybe if/when they are closed, they could be merged. (I'm not sure which of them stays open, but for example I'd like to see Arturo Magidin's answer on the one which remains open - since there this answer will get a bit more exposure.)

I agree, @MartinSleziak. I voted to close the first you list as a duplicate of the third you list. I would not object if the answers were merged into the third question you linked to.
Thanks for the response. I have flagged the one with Arturo Magidin's answer (149822) for merging.
@MartinSleziak A bit strange. The posts were merged by Jack D'Aurizio. But at the same time he changed the direction in which the duplicates were closed.
And he also closed the older post as off-topic rather than duplicate. Maybe he has some reasons that I do not see.

@MartinSleziak Yes, it appears confusing to me too!
@amWhy Me tree?
@user21820 :p
16:52
@user21820 tree(2) or tree(3)?
@DanielFischer tree(mango).
The name is "von Mangoldt".
@DanielFischer Whaat... I just meant the fruit I can eat. People, not so much...
The fruit one can eat is called strawberry.
I'll stop the off-topic goofing now.

Yummy, @user21820 and @DanielFischer .. Thinking about a fruit salad for lunch! Strawberries, Mango, raspberries, apples, pears, etc. Now, since we're close to becoming "fruit-cases", I'm with Daniel on leaving fruit alone (except maybe for my lunch!)
