@amWhy *::twiddles thumbs::* 3 more votes to go...
See this post too, @SimplyBeautifulArt (and its, cough answer): math.stackexchange.com/questions/2488345/…
@amWhy I'm too late for the close lol
@SimplyBeautifulArt Now open for deletion! Or, you can wait and see. But the answer is worthless in this case. The asker, using notation that is not clear, is asking to generalize the statement, so then use induction. (Not clear, I know). But the answer speaks only in a very casual (poorly worded) description for proceeding with induction on n, given any statement that is appropriate for induction, and never speaks to the askers question.

@amWhy I'm gonna wait, despite how bad it is. Posted 1 hour ago. May take a look tomorrow if my memory decides to hold up.
Ugh, think I need calories. Gonna grab ice cream.
@SimplyBeautifulArt yummy go for it!

@amWhy This is confusing; why did the asker accept an answer that does not even seem to say anything... Both have just gone poof!
@amWhy Asked didn't improve it since 4 hours ago, anyway.

@SmokeDetector Flagged for moderator's attention with the explanation: "OP defaces their questions, at least two posts with answers and two with comments but no answers. Four defacements were reverted by other users, but a reminder that this is not how the site works, might be needed. (Oh, and yes, if users were not routinely answering questions with zero context, such episodes would stop to happen.)"

It seems that there are several questions about the fact that $A^2=I$ implies that sume of ranks of $A+I$ and $A-I$ is $n$. (I will post the one I found below.) It would be nice to choose the best duplicate target (and, if needed, improve it so that it is not closed for lack of context.)
I consider it interesting problem which is probably not quite easy for people who encounter something like this for the first time. So I would like if one of the copies stays undeleted. Disclaimer: I have also posted answer to one of the questions below.
Are there some others which I missed?
The deleted post also has an answer which seems to be reasonable - if one of the post is chosen as the canonical duplicate target, maybe the deleted one could be merged with that one, so that this answer stays on the site.

@MartinSleziak: What do you think of DanielV's comment on my recent question+answer pair? Why are the Meta consensus posts not sufficient? Based on your memory, is it really so contentious, or is it just because people are offended by the mere length of my post, do you think?
@ParamanandSingh Right; it's not an answer to the question.
@user21820 I have upvoted the question. (Not the answer, at least not yet - I am not sure to which extent I am able to assess the quality of the answer and I did not wanted to vote just based on the fact that I know that user who posted it seems to be well-versed in this stuff.)
I am in general for self-answers and I posted a few myself. I assume you used the way in which the question and answer are posted simultaneously - which is in my opinion the right thing to do.
@MartinSleziak Yup I'm not asking for upvotes without reading. I'm just very surprised that people seem to think the consensus is something counter to what I can find on Meta and even the founder's blog.
@MartinSleziak Yeap exactly that, which apparently few people are aware of the functionality.
This to me seems contrary to what I think and what I consider the consensus on meta: "The reason for allowing self answered questions is that often, since the posters are usually the ones most interested in the question, they end up being the first person to find the answer, and other reasons similar to that. It IS NOT so people can self publish knowledge that they think should be shared."
I have added a comment there. There are many related posts on meta, I am not sure which of them I would choose as the most relevant to link to.
Of course, whatever a consensus is, there are going to be some users who disagree. (There is quite a lot of stuff you and me disagree on.)
15:22
@MartinSleziak Yea thanks. Though I'd say we're different; we don't convert our disagreement into downvotes on (essentially) mathematically correct answers. =)

@MartinSleziak Now only one of those question remained open, so I flagged for merging.
20:20
@ParamanandSingh Yes indeed; I just read your comment now, and the post has already been deleted. Good call!
@Did Nice call on the flag. OP suspended for the day, it appears.
20:47
@MartinSleziak a problem with a merge is that the one open makes the reals explicit so the answer pointing out that it does not work in char 2 is not valid there.
I'll look into it a bit more latter.

@MartinSleziak I undeleted the self-deleted 24..., which has some thoughts of OP, and merged the close 22... into it. For reasons explained above I'd keep 19... separate.
If somebody wants to dupe-close 19... into 24... I won't stop them either, but I would not or at least I might not do it personnally.
A quote I like: "In maths, the game is to make things as simple as possible (in order to deduce interesting things), not as complicated (and messy) as possible." @Rolling Do you know this quote? Do you agree with it? — Did 22 mins ago
@Did may I ask where the quote is from?
@SimplyBeautifulArt Love it!
@SimplyBeautifulArt yup
@amWhy user's other not-yet-deleted post may also ask for a vote. I'm not entirely sure, as I kinda see context, but not really, and it has some downvotes due to self-vandalizing edits.
[side note: Daily update, @SimplyBeautifulArt: How are your teeth (oops, absent teeth) healing.]
@amWhy Can't tell much difference from yesterday, but I worked myself to go to school today. Was nice being with people, but I was highly self-aware of my bad breath (can't brush my teeth $\ddot\frown$)

@SimplyBeautifulArt User reuns (who is commenting here) à propos a previous installment of a very related question by the OP: math.stackexchange.com/q/2476784
@SimplyBeautifulArt Voted already.
lol
oh.
@Did That's actually a mess. Also. That coloring is horrible.
@SimplyBeautifulArt yup and i voted to close it!
@amWhy I'm voting to close as unclear. Simply put, there's too much unnecessary noise obfuscating the question asked.
@Did, no I don't agree with that quote! however that quote isn't mathematically! — Rolling Stones 17 secs ago

@SimplyBeautifulArt Guess who wrote this: "I am new in number theory and I am not familiar with topics of number theory, but I can show way towards open problems in number theory like Goldbach's conjecture if I be assisted by Mathematicians for problems solving because I am a good theorist!" Goldbach? Hmmm...
Slightly amusing.
@Did :o lots of interesting people who contribute to math without being able to do a lot of the math? :D

Q: How to tackle limit question using epsilon-delta?

sgerbhctimConsider the function, with domain $\mathbb{R}$, defined by $$f(x) = \begin{cases} x & \text{if $x$ is rational,} \\ -x & \text{if $x$ is irrational.} \end{cases} $$ Prove that $\lim_{x\rightarrow 0}f(x)=0.$ Obviously, intuitively, the limit is $0$. But how do I prove this b...

Comments make it feel like homework, but the OP tried.
Or rather, provided context.
Oh, yup, definitely homework lol
