Not true. The linked dupes use exactly the same pigeonhole argument as here. The argument is applied in many contexts (monoids, (semi)groups, rings, etc) but it is exactly the same argument in all cases - see abstract duplicates
It's very disappointing to see an experienced user try to reopen an obvious dupe they have answered (using dubious claims). Any experienced user should know well that such a basic application of PHP has been applied here many tens (if not hundreds) of times in the past in various contexts containing monoids (even if they don't explicitly mentioned the innate monoid structure). Kudos to those who quickly rejected the reopen request in the queues.
