I think that it is quite strange that this PSQ had four upvotes one minute after having been posted.

@amWhy Polite reminder #1!
@JoséCarlosSantos @vitamind The questions you shared, both of which had four to five up votes within a minute or so of being posted, were by the same user. The first was closed and needs three downvotes for deletion, the second needs two close votes and three downvotes. This could be a pattern, we'll have to watch this.

@rschwieb I thought you asked if it was on-topic, hence I answered, no not at all! I should clear that up: Off topic?: Absolutely!

IMHO this question can be closed as dupe. I have mentioned target in comments, but this belongs to the category of abstract duplicate so that the asker needs to map it. Let me know if it is appropriate to close as dupe.

@ParamanandSingh Done.

@vitamind This has been improved, not a PSQ anymore.
Ready, set, crawl!

@TeresaLisbon Glad it has. I encouraged the OP in the comments to do so.

Looks we have "another" no-rep-anywhere user lurking in our chat. They should know they can access the trascript, and not be detected here. Likely another sock.

I was just logged out, no need to be paranoid.

PSQ but being closed as a duplicate!

5:49 PM
@D.Thomine OMG I was not talking about you. You are welcome here! I sometime wonder about anonymous accounts where their identicon is "ghosted".

Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding

By the way, since I'm now logged, I'd have a question concerning edits

@D.Thomine No problem. you are more than welcome here. But. the user I was referring to cannot even comment here.
@D.Thomine Sure, fire away! (not literally! ;D)

I often see edits to low-quality questions (typically MathJax formating) in the queue.
And, sure, this improves the question, but it is still a very low quality question (PSQ...)
Does it stil make sense to accept the edit ?
It seems a bit pointless...

5:53 PM
@D.Thomine Indeed, I see them often, too.

@D.Thomine You are perfectly correct. They don't get that a question that's low quality, no matter how "pretty" it looks.

@D.Thomine I agree that it is rather pointless, but if it improves the post in terms of formatting, we need to accept the edit, but we don't have to approve the question or post that was edited. I have many times downvoted the very post being edited, but accepted the edit.

That's the principle I used, but I was not sure.
Thanks !

@D.Thomine I does indeed strike me as pointless. But some users are desperate to earn 2 points for edits (up to a user reaching 2K in rep), that they search far and wide for anything at all to suggest an edit on.
@D.Thomine No problem! You brought up a very good problem.

(Note : substituting PSQ appropriately into some folk songs)

@amWhy: I had discussed this question to be closed as dupe, but the dupe target was more of an abstract duplicate and hence I wanted opinion. Then @JoséCarlosSantos closed it as dupe. I now see you have reopened.

@TeresaLisbon China man, ..., ... ;D Sorry, I was in word search mode on the first word!

@amWhy Popular Telugu folk song, made into a nice little movie song by a great composer. Real hit, it's basically asking two ladies whose names are Chinnamma and Chilakamma "see, a PSQ!" (pointing somewhere, probably at a PSQ!)

6:13 PM
@TeresaLisbon Nice.

please share your views on whether to close this as dupe. It has already been closed and reopened from CURED. It is better that we have a consensus over this.

@Paramand Singh: it looks like a complete dupe, but on the other hand, the answers to the target don't seem very easy to adapt to the dupe (which rely on relatively easy computations thanks to the small degree, the last one is not complete).
*two rely on relativly easy computations

@ParamanandSingh It is clearly a dupe. When I reviewed it in the reopen queue, I failed to read the reason for its initial closure. Because the question was asked at a higher level than a PSQ, I voted to reopen, and didn't know that dupe hammered it open. I feel terrible about that now!
I will now be much more attentive to read the reason for initial closure, when evaluating posts in the Reopen queue. Again, that was my mistake.

6:27 PM
and with that, I bid thee , a good day.

Small question: Assume I have a tag-gold badge, take complex analysis for example. (I don't have any yet so this is just a general question). Let's say I see a clear duplicate, which is not tagged as complex analysis but I'm also familiar with the content of the question and therefore it's tag (real analysis for example) but I do not have a gold badge for real analysis.
Would editing the question and adding "real analysis" to the tags and then close this question as a dupe be okay or would it be considered as playing the system? (Of course after that action one would have to remove the tag.) I can clearly see that this question has pros and cons but at the end I'd like to hear what you think and/or do if someone does this.

@vitamind No, that won't work, when editing to the tag one has gold in, one is not eligible to dupe-close unilaterally. However, I think others who have not edited the tag, may appear if they of a gold badge in the tag someone else edited, to dupe close. But I'm not sure on the latter. I know for certain, that the user editing to a badge they have a gold badge in, cannot close it with a dupe hammer. Your vote will still count as a vote to close as a dupe, though.

@amWhy Ah okay that makes sense. Thank you!

@vitamind No problem. Glad to help :-).

8:38 PM
@amWhy It's my understanding that if you edit the tags at all, whether or not it is to add one of your gold tags, you can't use the dupe hammer.

@MattSamuel That is likely true. I was merely informing the user, in terms of their specific question. But I appreciate your expanded information, and I wish you'd have pinged @vitamind instead.
@vitamind Please note @Matt's comment above.
@MattSamuel There, I did it for you. It seems you prefer to take opportunities to correct me.

@MattSamuel@amWhy Thank you for the clarification.

@MattSamuel See ya! (You seem to prefer lurking here, to participating.)
@vitamind Glad to help, I was just relaying the info to you, from Matt.

@amWhy Not even really checking it lately, been very busy with work/life.

@SmokeDetector Answers there are answers to a question asking for websites helpful or instructive wrt to their interest in math. Links, in such a case, are perfectly appropriate.
