Q: Find the number of ordered pairs of positive integers $(x,y)$ such that $x^2+y^2-xy=37$.

Sujal MotagiFind the number of ordered pairs of integers $(x,y)$ such that $x^2+y^2-xy=37$. I've never solved diophantine equations of degree 2 so I didn't know how to approach this problem. So I think there's no point in showing my efforts. All I did was to trial and error to find solutions but even that di...

Q: Proof about primitive roots of unity

UlisesI need a proof for this: Let $w$ be a primitive unity root order $3$. We need to prove that $(1-w +w^2)*(1+w-w^2) = 4$ Thanks.

@user21820 Your deletion recommendations from yesterday are all gone!
@Saad, your closure requestions today are closed. One deletion request is gone, the second deletion request needs one more delete vote.

@amWhy Thanks for the notification (although it came in two)

@Saad Oops, sorry about that. I had attempted to edit the erroneous "requestions" in the first post, but my edit, which was successful, posted independently as a second post. Sorry about that!
@Saad Notice my observation posted in "Whatever, quid":
in whatever, quid, 2 mins ago, by amWhy
Funny thing I've noted. Very often, when intending to write "request", my fingers take over, out of habit, and I end up writing "requestion"! :-)

@amWhy Maybe you just have typed too many times of “(problem-statement) questions”!

@Saad I think you're right!

Actually I'm thinking if there's a way to modify the scripts of Charcoal to make automatic summaries of the status of requested posts in this room, say, every 6 hours.
So that people don't have to sift through so many requests to see if they really need actions.

1:05 PM
@Saad That would be tremendously useful!

That being said, I'm no expert in programming. So let's see how far I can go.

@Saad I believe @XanderHenderson was wondering the same. Perhaps we can all put our heads together to figure something out. I've pinned your comment to help highlight it.

@amWhy That's helpful. And I have to pick up my memory of Python first since the last time I used it a year ago.
@Saad Open for deletion.

Btw, the name of this room is still shown as C.R.U.D.E. on the page of chat rooms associated with Charcoal.

@Saad I just inquired in the Charcoal chatroom about how the listing can be updated. Thanks for the information!

in Charcoal HQ, 1 min ago, by Daniil
@amWhy Hello, that page is updated manually rather than automatically. I'll make a PR on GitHub to update it to the new name. Thanks for bringing this up :)
Thanks again, @Daniil :-)
@Saad @Daniil : Is there any hope such a project could be undertaken, with contributions from users here? (I linked to the question/suggestion Saad asked in this room earlier today.)

@amWhy I modified the wiki now: github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/wiki/Chat-Rooms The actual site should be updated soon

@Daniil Wonderful! Thanks again!

user435118
@amWhy What do you mean by requested posts in this room? What requests? (sorry, I'm not familiar with this room :) )

@Daniil We have wondered whether there is a manner in which we can formulate requests for deletion, closure, undeletion, editing, or reopening, in a consistent format, posted in this chatroom, so as to update which have been deleted, closed, undeleted, edited, or repened. To be honest, I don't know how Charcoal or SmokeDetector works, but there are a few users here with some scripting experience. Such a project may not be under the umbrella of Charcoal, but if you have any ideas ...

user435118
@amWhy Charcoal doesn't seem to be related/suitable for this. A similar room on Stack Overflow: SOCVR See the format of the requests there

...how we can embark on this project, that would be helpful to hear. As it is, we have inconsistent modes of posting such requests (among different users), so we'd have to adopt a consistent format to identify posts.

2:27 PM
They also have a userscript to sort the requests:

@Daniil Thank you! I really appreciate your time here.

user435118

user435118
So you can sort requests ^

@Daniil Wow, wonderful information. Thanks again!

user435118
There is also another userscript to request a cv/dv under a quesiton:

user435118
2:28 PM

user435118
Maybe you can adapt the scripts from there into here?

@Daniil Indeed. We will work on doing just that!

user435118
The two userscripts I'm talking about are mentioned here: -pls Request Generator and Unclosed Request Review Script

user435118
@amWhy Glad I could help, feel free to ping me if you need help with the userscripts :)

@Daniil Thanks so much!

user435118
2:31 PM
That seems like the best choice because then all the requests will be consistent and be sorted easily, what do you think?

user435118
@amWhy No problem :)

@Daniil Agreed!
@Saad, @user21820, @XanderHenderson I think you've all proposed trying to take something like the above on. @Saad, apparently Charcoal is not the best means for doing so. Please, all of us, let's read the above thread, and pursue the recommended links. I think this could help simplify and sort our requests in this room!

user435118
@amWhy Charcoal is more about spam, not closing questions :)

@Daniil Yes, we get the feed Smoke Detector feed, and that does seem to be the case, as you note. :)

user435118
👍 Let me know if any of you have other quesitons about Smokey/Charcoal/the above scripts. Happy to help :)

2:36 PM
@Daniil Sure will. I'll be in touch!

3:24 PM
Hey there, @user21820!

@Saad If I recall correctly, someone said that SE does not support querying the status of a post via API, so no matter what we still have to actually load the pages. What I do is simply Shift+Click+Click+Click+... to open them all in new tabs and then Ctrl+PgUp from the last one to the first and then start closing each one after whatever action you want to make.
So it's actually convenient if all the links are close together, whereas if we require each to be in a separate message then it will be troublesome. In fact, that's why I can process yours and RRL's requests much faster than others, though it's not a big deal haha..
When most of the requests have been handled already, I end up pressing Ctrl+W+W+W+... for most of them.
Sorry, depending on your browser and whatever, should be Shift+MidClick^n...
I think Ctrl+PgUp is pretty standard for moving to previous tab.
@amWhy Hello! I'm not sure what the above userscripts are about; looking at the last link, the generator is used to automatically send a request to the chat-room, but as per what I said above I think there's no automatic way to check for pending requests even via API.
I suppose Xander is using some of those scripts, such as the generator. Hence his requests are always in a specific format.

3:44 PM
@user21820 Yes, I use those scripts. They are quite nice.
@amWhy I am happy to sit on the sidelines and cheer, but my ability and motivation to code are nil.

user435118
4:07 PM
@amWhy Do you want me to start adjusting the scripts for this room or are you fine to start yourselves?

@Daniil Please feel free to do so. I am not terribly great at scripting.

user435118
Sure

user435118
Oh it already works for you guys

@Daniil Yup. :)

user435118
Has anyone here installed it?

4:19 PM
@XanderHenderson Perhaps you need to tutor me!?

@amWhy Install the userscript, then use the new interface which is added to questions.
I am not quite sure how do to the first part.
It was a while ago, and it might depend on which browser you are using.
The second part is pretty intuitive once the userscript is set up.

user435118
@amWhy

4:34 PM
@Daniil Thank you, again!

4:53 PM
@Daniil And, of course, that was just a test and not a request for that question to be closed. =)
Or was it?

user435118

user435118
@amWhy Done :) ^

user435118
@user21820 Yep, a test. (first question I saw)

user435118
I'll move that message to the trash to not get confusing

1 message moved to Trash
@Daniil I'm not sure that you can do that, so I did it for you.

user435118
@XanderHenderson Beat me to it :)

5:14 PM
Oh, wait. You have a diamond.

user435118
@XanderHenderson I can thanks to my ♦ :)

Of course you can move messages. Derp.

@Daniil Great! thanks!

5:28 PM
@XanderHenderson Duh! :-)
Anyway, I'm very impressed by @Daniil $\color{blue}\diamondsuit$'s helpfulness today!!

@Daniil , i am happy to see a new SE communtiy on drones. i shall help it by joining in beta stages

user435118
5:42 PM
@Arjun Great, do you know about drones yourself or are you a beginner?

@Daniil , i remember getting one when i was 6 or 7, i could't fly it properly so i did what a kid would do, broke it. since then my parents haven't got me one

user435118
@Arjun :/ Please do ask questions as well (it helps grow our question base :) )

@KaranSingh This is not the right place for that kind of question. The purpose of this room is to coordinate the Closure, Undeletion, Reopening, Editing, and Deleting of posts on Math SE which require a little extra attention.

user435118
@amWhy The page has been deployed with the new room name: charcoal-se.org/smokey/Chat-Rooms

@Daniil Thanks for the update!

user435118
@user21820 @HarishChandraRajpoot Would you consider using the close script I linked above?

user435118
@amWhy No problem, let me know if I could help with anything else :)

@Daniil You've been amazingly helpful today! Thanks so much! I'll be in touch if I have any further questions!
