Does this answer answer the question? Unless I am mistaken, it expands on what OP stated as βIt is straight forward to verify that ...β but does not address the actual problem (βI am trying to modify this inequality ...β).
Some people has apparently voted to delete this question. Personally I don't think the question should be deleted. Although I would like to hear opinions of other people about it.
