This is strange. 2824898: Solve $ \sum_{n=0}^\infty\frac{1+n}{3^n} $? seems almost the same (in the sense character-by-character) to 14554: Sum of the series: $\sum_{n=0}^\infty\frac{1+n}{3^n}$.

what is the logic of putting a question on hold rather than deleting?

@PeterSheldrick One cannot delete a question that hasn't been put on hold or closed.

@PeterSheldrick Additionally, the on-hold status does not mean that the fate of the question has already been decided. If the question is improved, it might still be reopened (and contribute some valuable content). FAQ: What is a “closed”, “on hold”, or “duplicate” question? Help center: math.stackexchange.com/help/closed-questions
And historical lock is yet another example when a question is closed but it is preferred that it says on the site. Although questions locked in this way are rather rare, I'd say.

I know. You want that 100k, and easy obvious set theory questions are an alluring source of points. But for the love of god, some questions are so obviously natural that it would be ridiculous to assume no one bothered to ask them in the course of nearly 8 years. I put less effort than you did in closing this question, which says something about you. Seriously man. — Asaf Karagila 32 secs ago
Am I imagining this?

@AsafKaragila Unfortunately, that's not at all surprising, given the user who answered. Answering the question is consistent with how the answerer operates on this site.
