[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Offensive body detected, offensive title detected: Prove that random variable converges in distribution without Slutsky's theorem by wintermute on math.SE

Slutsky is a person't name, Smokey. It's okay.
I have no idea what this person is trying to do... and their comments and edits are not making anything clearer.

@Did @amWhy @XanderHenderson @SimplyBeautifulArt: Useless/contextless posts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
This is the 5th question you've posted in the last day, all on the same topics, all without an explanation of what you've tried/done or your thoughts. It really feels like you're just posting homework problems all from the same assignment and hoping others will do it for you. — mathematics2x2life 15 hours ago
@XanderHenderson: By the way, are you aware of the tools page (math.stackexchange.com/tools)? You can see more there.
@XanderHenderson It is clearly a fruitcake. See the profile to be convinced.

For more fruit, see that user's Phil SE profile. Also note that he publicizes his webpage that according to VirusTotal triggers an automatic file-download that may be malware, so be careful.

More PSQs: 6, 7, 8.

@amWhy The asker added some stuff. Do you consider it sufficient?

@user21820 It's an improvement, and I have no plans to delete it now. You're free to vote to reopen, if you'd like to. I did cancel my downvote, cast prior to any effort posted.

1:46 PM
@amWhy Okay sure. I wanted to hear your thoughts first before voting. I would not consider it 'much' effort, but it's a new user who at least tried to add something, and hopefully from now on will post better questions! =)

@Did @amWhy @XanderHenderson: I am always appalled that (almost) nobody ever identifies the error in exponentiation fallacies and explains what is correct:

A: Why $e^{i(π/3)} \ne -1$?

user21820I'm surprised that none of the other answers fail to point out the actual error in your question (no it is not that $-1$ has $3$ cube-roots): It is not at all true that $(x^a)^b = x^{ab}$ for complex numbers $x,a,b$ in general, under any reasonable definition of complex exponentiation. Coun...

@user21820 Very nice answer.

I'm not crazy, right? This question seems rather unclear (and the request for clarification in the comments remains unanswered), and yet the good doctor disagrees with my conclusion that his answer is not an answer. How can you answer the question if you don't even know what the question is?!

@XanderHenderson I agree it's unclear; I can't make sense of what it means to call the imaginary part cos(bi).

Exactly!

@XanderHenderson, @user21820 I see that the petty doctor's post is now open for deletion...

Final downvote needed on this PSQ

Oops... I meant final "close vote" needed; thanks @Xander

Is there a way of seeing who has voted to close a particular question?

7:41 PM
@XanderHenderson You mean before it's closed? I think it's shown in the timeline. Probably one needs 10k to see it. But you now have.

I don't see it in the timeline
though maybe it takes time to update?

@XanderHenderson Let me see if I can see it on SO.
Now it's open to see for all at that question.

@XanderHenderson Yeah, doesn't show for 10k users any more. It was initially shown when the new timeline was introduced, but that seems to have been a bug if it was removed.

heh
This question is on the HNQ, but probably should be closed

7:56 PM
@XanderHenderson I don't see it on the HNQ? =P

I found it on the HNQ... maybe it is not there now?
I don't think that it is a terrible question. It just has a really clickbaity title

I posted this in the main chat but maybe it should have gone here instead: Is it just me, or are these kinds of questions almost as bad as "guess the next number" questions?

@XanderHenderson A little mathjax can go a long way...

Indeed.

@AntonioVargas I find them problematic most of the time, too. It's not just you!!

8:08 PM
Oh, hey! Look who answered that question... :\

@XanderHenderson :\

8:27 PM
@XanderHenderson Yikes, they are being rather an as * h* l * in comments below their "answer"

9:20 PM
We need a new close reason: "the user is unclear of their question" (and henceforth, the question is rather unclear: math.stackexchange.com/questions
And the asker of that question has apparently been a user for 3.5 years, still at 101 rep (association bonus) (methinks there might be a history of deleted questions here).

9:35 PM
methinks that link is not what you want it to be

10:05 PM
@XanderHenderson Yikes.. how'd that happen? (Secret: I don't know!!)
@Xander ... This is the "user unclear of their question", but in the end, it may be mostly do to a language barrier. It's been improved somewhat.

11:00 PM
I'm out of votes :(

@XanderHenderson Me too, for upvotes/downvotes... but I think a have a few close votes still.
