Ah, MTB wasn't included in the (road) cycling bibs category.

0.8°C commute today :(
winter is coming

@gschenk I'd also assume the differences between XC lycra clothing and road clothing are mostly related to style and pockets, but it's not easy to know for sure.
(I have a rockrider winter bib, there are some rubberish patterns on the outside of the leg, still don't understand if they have a functional role or not)

@Michael at that temperature, winter is well in residence !

@Criggie you're from a coastal climate with mild winters. That's just a mid autumn morning here.

Advantage of rural road riding: Passing farms with cute cats. Disadvantages: One can't meow at the cats because of having to pay attention to the cars.
20:02
@Erlkoenig how can you even see the cats when it gets dark at 17h already?
Anyone experience with running? Every year even cycling gets unpleasant I plan to begin with running. However, it's so immensely unpleasant I just cannot get myself motivated to go out an hour or two after dinner.
My experience is that I do not like it.
Meanwhile, a friend runs a 100-mile race twice a year.
@gschenk I have special cat-detection senses
20:42
@gschenk I hate going out after dinner. If I am lucky I can get my exersize in between work and dinner. If I can't I safe it up for the weekend. Others use lunch hours. (When I have half a day off I go swimming around lunch time and in the pool there are always some people who swim between morning and afternoon work.)
21:02
I've tried lunch break for a ride once. No food at all is quite difficult to get used to. Perhaps still easier when being motivated by having to go out in the cold as alternative.

@gschenk This image:
suggests that an alternative to abandoning gravel bikes because some have too long a reach for their stack, is to look for brands/models that have a larger stack-to-reach ratio.
Please keep me posted as you survey the market.
21:53
@gschenk eat while you ride or eat before or after the actual lunch break.
@Sam7919 where do you see that they suggest abandoning gravel bikes? Don’t forget that reach and stack are frame measurements, and they don’t include the stem. Gravel bikes have longer reach values, but are sold with shorter stems than road bikes (40mm difference between the endurace and the grail for example)
Of course if the recommended sizes are too big, it’s easier to shorten a 110mm stem than a 70mm one, but if you know the reach and stack you need with the stem, that’s not an issue.

@Rеnаud They don't. I was replying to gschenk, who suggested he's skipping searching for a gravel bike for this reason — or so I understood.
Yes, that's the beauty of the S&R. It's a starting point from which we can customize with our own stem.
It seems that there is trend to make gravel bikes longer, but they must also have a steeper fork, not one quite as inclined as an MTB's fork, but on the way there.
And yet the stems provided, as you observe, are shorter. So if that reach is too long for one's preference, there is no option for making it shorter. The only option is to search for another brand's gravel bike, or to search instead for a road endurance frame.
@gschenk That question has been perplexing me. Suppose you want to ride and eat at noon. If it's just a short ride (say 10-20 km), what's better, to eat before or after the ride?
