Welcome @Yubin-chan
@Brahadeesh I am not sure that identification of library music is currently off-topic

user185131
@Bebs I am basing that off the meta post and chat message that I linked to in this message: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/53411891#53411891

@Brahadeesh it was never acknowledged by mods, so I never considered it as a rule
I suggested to add it as a specific close reason, but mods never want to change anything

Although @Donald.McLean isn't pingable here right now, I notified him by pinging him in this message, that the requisite 5 upvotes have been received on the Meta answer so that it can be enforced by the mods.

@Donald.McLean I was going through the chat transcripts to see what I've missed over the last 6 months. It seems that we have got 5 upvotes on this now!

In any case, the upvotes on the Meta post indicate community consensus (to a reasonable approximation), so in that sense I believe that identification of library music is currently off-topic.

@Bebs Adding a standard close reason to that effect would indeed be ideal, but in the absence of that feature I use a custom close reason and link to that Meta post, whenever required.

@Brahadeesh, I agree, but as it is written nowhere except in Meta, I don't expect newcomers to know that this specific ID questions is off-topic, especially if the user did: * enough research, * provide details, * enclose a link
That's why I agree with the rule, but I don't enforce it currently
And since we have mods that do not want to make any change, I just wait

@Bebs That's a reasonable position.

@Dom Do you think you can help out? Our on-topic section could be updated to mention that identification of library music is off-topic. Getting a custom close reason would also be great.

@Brahadeesh we can't say an id question is off-topic if the song is unidentified
the meta post states that youtube soundtrack are very likely to be library music, so, to me, what needs to be off-topic, is youtube soundtrack ID

user185131
@Bebs Yes, I overgeneralised in my message(s), sorry about that. I agree with the formulation in the meta post (and your previous message).

@Brahadeesh let's see what @Dom thinks

Dom
We have a slot for an additional off topic reason. If you guys can make a meta post about the exact working and if we want it I can feature it and we can get better feedback before doing it.

@Bebs @PiedPiper @Angst I've voted to close some questions as duplicates on Meta in a bid to organise the old discussions on ID questions. Since very few eyes watch the Meta review queues I thought I'd just make a note of it here as well.

@Dom Sure, I'll see if I can get around to doing that over this weekend. Of course, if someone can beat me to it, then please go ahead! :)
