@Gallifreyan I can't answer for Morten Harket, but that would be a decent hypothesis in general : attenuate the outside sound of a few dB and amplify own's sound
Again, it could be a good question to ask
maybe there is some other explanations I didn't think of

@Mast I like lots of old stuff, but for some reason I just find that annoying.
