SNAP would have done it, till strava killed the service.

Anyone got a time machine? ;-) I promise not to kill my parents or anything awkward like that.

heh if only.

@DavidRicherby Is this on your phone? Might have fallen off the GPS and gone over to Cell location.
No idea about fixing it though, I'd just ignore it
Once you get more and more rides, the little problems get drowned out
Gutting when you do a special ride and it cocks up though
I've deleted big races by accident which was disappointing
Or, if you do a big effort on a segment you think you can get, and it throws a wobbly
or, worse, gives you a KOM that you didn't get through a glitch
GPS is pretty cool, but not infallible.

@alex Yeah, phone GPS. You might be right about it switching to cell location.
Thing is, at the moment, it's not a "little problem" (except in first-world problem sense that it's pretty inconsequential to my life as a whole). I've done eleven rides this week and six of them have had significant GPS problems, plus one more that was probably user error. This one and one more have had me jump across town but then jumped back, which is more or less recoverable; three others, it's jumped randomly and never recovered before I got to my destination;
one, I got bored of waiting for a GPS lock and set off without it. I guess the lesson here is that my phone has crappy GPS.

Well, I bought a Topeak bag/handlebar mount thing and my phone didn't glitch for the whole of the 7-mile ride I did. Small sample size but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Can I ask what kinda phone it is? iphones are known to have GPS odditites.
Had group rides at work and those with iphones, their strava tracks look like drunks walking home from the pub. The garmin ones are perfect.

9:13 PM
It's a Huwaei P8 lite. The tracks on Strava aren't great but I wouldn't say they're terrible.
This is today's ride (first time I've ridden those roads with Strava so don't be impressed by the pile of PRs!)
This is the one with the translated segment, where I had the phone in my pocket.
Actually, today's, with my phone on the bars is much better. Hurrah.

Yah - "first time on segment" never used to be a PR because it was a first run.
@DavidRicherby btw strava.com/clubs/SEBicycles

Yeah, that'd be sensible.

Waaaait. I've climbed 2000ft in a week of commuting?

Strava counts every foot of elevation change
so an otherwise flat road might have undulations on the map
its not real elevation gain in terms of climbing rides, but its definitely there

Yeah. It just hadn't occurred to me that ~230ft elevation gain each trip would add up so fast.

I remember doing a ride up the beach, at sea level. at low tide, so no real change in sea position. Strava told me I did a hundred metres of climbing on that 15km length. At sealevel.... and the sea doesn't slope.

Impressive -- you should have gone down-hill water-skiing!

10:55 PM
heh it was bloody boring TBH... empty beaches are monotonous.
