@TOOGAM - Haven't yet shown the IPv6 ping results because I don't really understand the part where you say "% to specify which interface". In the non-working scenario the ping -6' result is as follows.
D:\Projects>ping -6 10.0.0.105
Ping request could not find host 10.0.0.105. Please check the name and try again.
@TOOGAM - Taking a long time this time for problem to rectify itself. Could you please give me a complete example of using "% to specify which interface"? Sorry to be so obtuse.

" ping -6 fe80:2001:db8:c0ff:ee0f:cafe:babe:face%25 " where " fe80:2001:db8:c0ff:ee0f:cafe:babe:face " represents an IPv6 address that your router is using, and "%25" refers to your network interface #25, which is your Intel(R) PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter according to the Interface List at the top of your " netstat -nr " output.

@TOOGAM - How do I get the IPv6 address of the device at 10.0.0.105? The device at 10.0.0.105 is not connected to a router but to an unmanaged switch. (By the way, are you a Java programmer (cafe babe)?)

@TOOGAM - I have explored the IPv6 issue a little further. The setup menu for the device at 10.0.0.105 has IPv6 switched off. The same ping issues also occur with a printer at 10.0.0.11. That printer was setup with only a static IPv4 address with IPv6 switched off.
