@Ampt yep.
And... I know you weren't being particularly serious, but... In ~6 months of searching, I couldn't really find a laptop with a better keyboard.
pretty sad :(

God save me from the Fn key

I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because this is a discussion on philosophy rather than "this does not work". Try Programmers instead. — Aron 17 secs ago
Sounds good, should I go post "Programmers" directly? Seems I can only "vote to delete" instead of closing it ... — Luke Lee 16 secs ago

I've never seen the front page of Programmers this bad. Almost every question is off-topic and heavily downvoted.
Any mods around? This page needs an enema.

@xaxxon how is that relevant to your misleading advice about dumping this to Programmers? Give a read to Please stop using Programmers.SE as your toilet bowlgnat 34 secs ago

@gnat that if the question were edited to be more specific it COULD go to programmers. — xaxxon 30 secs ago
@xaxxon let me remind you that your original misleading advice had nothing to do with if/edit etc. It was just a blatant suggestion to dump the question to as is to the site you apparently know nothing about: "I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because it belongs on programmers.stackexchange.com" — gnat 20 secs ago

@Shog9 ^^^ don't know if you noticed already, next thing we plan after site rename is feature request to enable single-flag removal for SO comments containing "programmers.stackexchange"

@LeandroSoares, No, see here it can be off topic over there too :) — Div 52 secs ago

Leandro Soares is apparently trying to avoid triggering Duga by putting our name in backticks.

"overkill" seems to be becoming a pass to hot list. Folks love to dump their precious opinions in bikeshedding of this kind, this guarantees regular portion of SO lemming upvotes after it sticks in HNQ

This is not the correct place to ask this question. This site is for questions about programming by programmers. Check one of the other StackOverflow sites. — Dale Wilson 9 secs ago

I can smell the 10k.

@MetaFight it's a bit like watching your odometer roll.

Yuck, that's like... Windows...

@Aaron hey, some of my favorite system crashes were on Windows.

I have to use Windows for work. I'd much rather use Linux.

yay, the same internet argument again.
clearly your opinion is special. You won the opinion challenge!

3:00 PM
no mine is more special since we use OSX. clearly OSX is the best!

I've been having this argument since before there was an internet. :)

@CandiedOrange have you won yet?

No, but the internet makes it easier to find people to have it with.

I should get to 10k here
so I can delete all the things

@CandiedOrange The next step is to herd those people into a pod and fire it into the sun.
I can't tell if I'm cranky because I've had too little or too much coffee.
OK. I'm off to buy a Wii U. That'll degrumpify me.

3:04 PM
I'd settle for a workplace that let me maintain my own computer. Something's wrong when your job would be easier when a department that is meant to support you didn't exist.

OSX++

But if we have to fire them into the sun to do it I'll start ordering pods.

Just had a literal fire drill - again.

@AaronHall Sounds awesome.

As opposed to a metaphorical one, not a fantasy pun...
A fire drill is a method of practicing how a building would be evacuated in the event of a fire or other emergency. Usually, the building's existing fire alarm system is activated and the building is evacuated as if the emergency had occurred. Generally, the time it takes to evacuate is measured to ensure that it occurs within a reasonable length of time, and problems with the emergency system or evacuation procedures are identified to be remedied. == History of fire drills == The purpose of fire drills in schools is so that everyone in the building is aware of how to exit the building in...
We do lots of these in downtown NYC for some reason...

@MetaFight How do I get one of these?

@MetaFight I know it says Hitachi but it looks a lot like that drill was made by Samsung.

This might be a better question for the folks over at Programmers Stack Exchange — BlakeP 33 secs ago
@Teague It should not be cross posted. It should only exist here or there. If you want it on Programmers you should delete it here. — NathanOliver 37 secs ago

Personally I would delete it here and leave it up on programmers. — NathanOliver 29 secs ago

ever have one of those situations where you realize you wrote really good code a long time ago and forgot how good it was until you hit that weird edge case you were thinking of and had forgotten about when you wrote some bit of code that had confused you since shortly after you wrote it?
just had that happen for 4 and a half year old code, about a year after I wrote it had completely forgotten what it was supposed to be doing and ended up having something adjusted incorrectly. Finally hit the edge case it was for four and a half years later
fortunately it was an easy fix to switch things back to what it was supposed to have been

Please note that "best practices" questions are off-topic for Stack Overflow. This question might be on-topic for Programmers, so consider posting there instead. Please note that cross posting is generally frowned upon, so you should either (1) post a new question there and delete this one, or (2) flag your question for a moderator to migrate. — Scott Weldon 51 secs ago
