...I think I even understand how it happened. Back then, I was flagging bunch of "nests of link-only answers" for deletion. Not that this question was good, but maybe others were so much worse in comparison that I mistakenly decided it is worth keeping. If moderator who handled the flag also dealt with my flags on other (much worse) questions, he could easily fall into same trap, comparing it to questions he just deleted — gnat 39 secs ago

Destroying humanity is not exclusive to the realm of software development, therefore your question is off topic. — maple_shaft 30 mins ago

@MichaelT Ugh, I gotta get 10k here. I did just get 5k recently though, woo woo

user41796
@MichaelT Who is the joker providing a calm and rational response to the continued whinging of that OP?!?!

user41796
> atheistlearner - please review the faq and you'll quickly see why this question is off-topic. This form of a question is not constructive for the stack exchange Q&A format. – GlenH7 May 3 '13 at 19:58

One more vote and I pull down a nice answer badge. Whee!

your answer seems to be the only one that actually gets it right so I'll give you that vote

> I don't want a moral or optimistic response to this question. I want to be a programmer but I do not like humans, I believe in friendship but in general I look forward to a supernova or something similar, something the would wipe out humanity. So my concern is that if I am planning on destroying humanity at some point in my life. Should I go for bio-engineering or both? I mean is there a way I can use programming skills to destroy humanity?

Please be aware that this question is serious and is not intended to a joke or something of the like.

user41796
Whee! Shiny, shiny badges!!!

we should make a blog post of hilariously wtf questions like that one and the "do I need to like pizza to be successful" one

user41796
> Q: Do I need to like coffee?

user41796
> A: Yes*

...is soda sufficiently caffeinated?

user41796
There's a contest amongst the youngins regarding who can drink the most (diet) mtn dew in the office....

user41796
The grey beards (or simply just bearded ones...) reply with "Mmmmm, coffee."

user55340
Hmm. Bio question: how do you determine the LD-50 for caffeine in humans?

user55340
9:38 PM
I know what it is. More a question to draw a "Yeck! What are you trying to do?!" Response.

I assumed you were trying to establish the maximum amount of beverage that could be safely provided at your next company meeting

user41796
Closed and answer score of 0 will delete off a question after 9 days w/o accepted answer, right?

user55340
Yep.

@GlenH7 yes
but downvoting for roomba is dickish unacceptable

user41796
Thanks! I'm judiciously applying some votes to a particular site to clean things up

Q: Clean-up by downvoting? A ridiculous user experience

Andrew RussellI was wondering how I suddenly got 5 6 downvotes on a 5-year-old, and well-upvoted answer. After some hunting around... There are just a few questions & answers needing to be voted down to 0 for automatic removal: See this answer. Seriously? Surely there is a better way of doing this? Th...

License question self migrating.

see shog's revision history to understand my strikethrough in-joke
So if you check the revision history, you'll see I didn't actually write "unacceptable" @gnat... Not that it probably helps your mood any. Unacceptable works just as well: given the mods currently spend a ridiculous amount of time policing rings of people who upvote posts for fraudulent ends, it's awful hard to argue this should be encouraged. — Shog9 ♦ Sep 29 at 20:35

user55340
@GlenH7 make SE happy. Cast a delete vote too.

user41796
So that's new...

9:44 PM
I think the real problem people had with it is voting rings
and collusion

user41796
@MichaelT Erm... sometimes my votes come across a wee bit heavy

not so much a downvote here or there

interesting that you bring this up five minutes after I downvoted a bunch of old answers for the roomba

user55340
Again - collusion is the problem.

@Ixrec um, excuse me, you downvoted a bunch of bad answers that were low quality that may or may not trigger an automatic system.

user55340
9:45 PM
Voting on crap is not.

@durron597 yes I did?

But the next question is "is downvoting a good answer to a bad question enough of a reason to downvote something" which is a point of contention.

Should we have more delete votes? Yes. Will they ever give us more? No. Do we have a mechanism for deleting questions other than delete votes? Yes. Okay, let's use it.
I haz no guilt.

user41796
In this particular case, I'm voting on crap. But I want roomba to take out the trash

This is the "well upvoted answer" in question, btw:

9:48 PM
@durron597 which one? the one at 6?

user55340
I've got sufficient delete votes to delete most crap I see each day.

user55340
@Ixrec yep. Shog reversed votes to see things about it.

@MichaelT you're special

user55340
40k special.

user41796
@Ixrec nah, he's just put his time in on the site.

user41796
9:50 PM
@MichaelT Thought they capped at 35k

@GlenH7 I know, it's just way more time than I'll ever have

user55340
Consider why this query always returns so few results: stackoverflow.com/…

user41796
I'm about 7 or 8 votes away from capping. Of course, that 7k or 8k in rep implies me answering things a lot more often...

user55340
At one time, it returned thousands.

@MichaelT The cliff questions query on SO only goes down to -5 now instead of -10 and below, see if you can guess why

user55340
9:52 PM
Oh, I know.

user55340
Just that query that returns four results is rather astonishing.

user55340
Do it on other sites - many more.

I don't. Apparently others do.

Hmm. Ran out of down before delete.

Q: Expand the roomba scripts to delete year or more old, up voted, closed questions

MichaelTCurrently the roomba has a criteria that deletes quite a bit of open questions that are considered abandoned after a year: If the question is more than 365 days old, and ... has a score of 0 or a score of 1 with a deleted owner has no answers is not locked has a viewcount <= the...
