So after rebooting, I apt-get dist upgrade --fix-missingand it asked me to download another 211MB... just the same size..

I did an apt-get upgrade through update manager on 11.10. After restarting my VGA monitor is no longer recognized and I can only get a maximum of 1024x768 on a 1440x900 monitor. I can't find xorg.conf so I am pretty lost!

@JorgeCastro when is Ubuntu going to get a ratting system for desktop environments? Sort of what Windows has for CPU/HD/3D acceleration/MEM req/etc? Would be nice to have some tool that said: "you can run 3D already but your are very low on mem and your hd access seems slow, running unity on this computer might not be the best choice, here are the recommendations for your system: de1, de2, turn this off, turn that off..."
then why are we suggesting to users that they should run xfce or lxde instead of unity? I LOVE UNITY, it is the best evolution I have seen in a long time and its the right path but some systems are not able to run unity2d, thats a fact.
