@quid I don't think that it is contradictory. Questions should be relevant to the community. The asker's background and motivation can help the community to understand why it is relevant, since it is likely that there will be other members of the community with a similar background.

@XanderHenderson that's a way to look at it. I still find it to be a bit confusing.

@quid Fair enough.
I guess my point is that ultimately the following: I think that personal motivation and relevance can add to context and can help establish the broader value of a question, but questions need to ultimately be of benefit to the community, and not just the asker.

Just seeking how "new user" is defined in the "late answer" review queue for late answers from new users. I understand that "new user" status is removed when a user reaches 10 reputation points. But under the "users" tab, "new users" are those who have been members for 45 days or fewer.
The "first posts" review queue includes questions from users' very first question post and/or very first answer post. But my understanding of the "late answer" review queue for answers from new users, it is not necessarily said new user's first answer, but they qualify as a "new user" (either under 10 rep, or else members for no more than 45 days, depending on what the standard definition for defining new user.)
@MartinSleziak You'd be my first "go to" person with respect to my question(s) above. Any clarification you might have?

@amWhy I think it's less than 50 points (even if they are around since a long time, even if they had been above 50 at some point).

@quid Ahh, okay. Good to know!

Q: Late late answer?

user213963So, I just came across a review in the Late Answers review queue. The link to the review itself: https://softwareengineering.stackexchange.com/review/late-answers/47599 This wasn't an audit (the dates on it struck me - I went out to double check that the vote count matched). Its a late answe...

^^ an "official" confirmation.

@quid Thanks for this! I actually went to meta to "ask" (didn't ask, just wanted to see what might show up as related), and saw this post listed, but I was focusing on "how new user is defined in the late answer review". Indeed, official confirmation!!

Yes, the title is not very intuitive.
Oddly, I already forgot what I was searching for to find it. o_O
I mean what search terms I used.

@quid I wonder, given the strikethrough on 10, replaced by 50, (in Grace's answer) if in general, "new user status" is not removed, rep-wise, until 50 rep. I doubt it, because I think what I read in our help section about "new user status" disappearing at 10 rep had to do with posting images/hyperlinks.

@amWhy I think the two are handled separately. The change from 10 to 50 already happened several years ago.

@quid Okay; that makes sense.

@Alexander Have you developed any loyalty to the Miami Dolphins? The Packers are playing them now. Everyone is in short sleeves, so it must be playing in your neck of the woods.
